Overview

Sandusky House Rental Photos and Description

House, 4 Bedrooms, 3 Baths, (Sleeps 8)

Bay-front location. This large single-family house is located on a small lane off Cedar Point Road and is just four miles down the road from Cedar Point Amusement Park. This home has a private yard with bay frontage for enjoying sunbathing, fishing, and viewing the beautiful sunsets.

The home features a large great room, four bedrooms, and three baths. The newly-built kitchen has Travertine floors, Kraftmaid maple cabinetry, and concrete countertops. Two work areas--each with a sink, disposal, and dishwasher—make large group entertaining easy. The large deck with a natural gas barbeque directly off the great room, with access through sliding doors from both the kitchen and living area, makes outdoor dining a pleasure. A full bath is easily accessible from both rooms.

The upstairs master bedroom has a king-sized bed, a private bath with stall shower and a jetted tub, and a walk-in closet. A private deck for the master bedroom allows you to enjoy the views and sunsets. Also on the second floor is a kids’ suite with four twin beds and a private full bath.

One of the main-level bedrooms has a queen-sized bed while the other features a double bed. The main floor full bath is easily accessible from both rooms. The laundry room, with washer and dryer, is on the main floor.

With easy access to Cedar Point and the Lake Erie Islands and many other local attractions, this is a great house from which to enjoy your summer vacation!

If you are looking for housing for a large group, this is one of four properties that I have on the Cedar Point peninsula. Two of the others are just a couple doors away from this house.

Wonderful as usual!

  • 5 of 5

After getting tired of the 3+ hour drive to Hocking Hills, our group decided to look for properties closer to home. I have rented all but one of Doug's space(s) the past 5 years, and most of my friends enjoy this space the most. The open space, the views, and the spectacular fireplace make it a place where we can come together to celebrate the new year, or get together for a girls' weekend. I recommend his properties for anyone who asks!

Great Location - Nice Property setting

  • 3 of 5

This house is in a great Location with an awesome waterfront out the back door. We caught alot of large mouth bass over the week we stayed. The Sunsets were awesome. The House Floor plan is also great. Love the large rooms and plenty of room to enjoy. However this home needs alot of fixing. The Kitchen is nice, But the furniture was old and not comfortable. They used outside dining set indoors which is hard and made out of metal. Not comfortable for long periods of time. The furniture didn't match like they just put together whatever they had found. The beds to us was not very comfortable. The house is not on level ground. Feels like your walking on a slant. Some of the doors need fixing and had a bar in the slider in the one bedroom because the lock was broken. They did come out and professionally sprayed the first day we were here, but there were alot of spiders everywhere. It was great to get the family together and we really spent the week at cedar point because it's less then 3 miles away To me it wasn't worth the price we spent. If they would fix the things that need to be fixed and bought all new furniture this would be a great place to come to. For this size house, you need more furniture then just a couch and 2 chairs I think should be outside or in a kids bedroom. The layout really needs a few couches, 2 chairs for true family seating. for us 5, we could not sit together in the living room. I would never pay the price I did as I paid for a peak season price. Just my opinion. Would I stay here again? YES! if they fixed and bought all new furniture.

Very disappointed

  • 2 of 5

We were very disappointed in our stay. The house had this strange smell each time we entered like fuel. The pictures on the web site are misleading. The couch was dirty, we used our own blanket to sit on it. The chair in the master bedroom was dirty. There was patio furniture in the living room for sitting, & eating. No drawers to store our clothes in any of the rooms. The stool was broken in the kitchen. The table outside on the deck was old, and rotted. The layout of the house was very nice, but this is definitely a rental property. The house was also slanted, at times it would feel like you were running downhill. A great location if you're vacationing for Cedar Point. Had a great time fishing. We expected so much more for what we paid. We would not recommend to family, or friends, nor would we stay here again.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your review. The outside table has been replaced. There are some chairs that function for both indoors and outdoors to accommodate various group's needs. Like many houses built on islands and peninsulas, settling occurs more dramatically here than in houses built in other places. I have no idea what the odor was that you mentioned. I have never heard that comment from anyone else, nor do have the cleaning people mentioned it. Perhaps it was actually one of their cleaning supplies that you noticed. I have reminded them to be aware of the cleanliness of the furniture. Thank you for bringing that to my attention.

Enjoyed our stay!

  • 5 of 5

We loved our stay at this house. Two in our group were photographers, and they enjoyed walking down to the bend in the road to take pictures of the sunset and the herons at the tail end of the nature preserve. But most of the time, we just enjoyed the view from the living room and deck and watched families of ducks and geese go swimming by.

The house is as described, though there have been some furniture updates (lovely & comfy new couch and IKEA-like side chairs) since the pictures were taken. The kitchen was a joy to work in. And it was nice to have accessible bath & laundry on the main floor.

Two notes for the fussy types: if you turn over in bed a lot, you may find the mattresses/beds on the noisy side (particularly the king on the main floor). Also, towels are provided, but if you want plush bath sheets, then bring your own!

BTW, for those concerned about earlier reviews of pet allergies & bugs, we didn't notice a single spider during our 3-day stay. In addition, my sister-in-law is very allergic to cats and had no problem staying at the house.

If you stay at this house, be sure to take the scenic drive up to Cedar Point. It'll cost just 50 cents to cut through the parking lot and head into Sandusky ... and if you're like us, you'll really enjoy seeing the beautiful houses and their lakeside gazebos and more.

Columbus, Oh

  • 4 of 5

The location of this property is more than we expected (Sandusky Bay in the back and Lake Erie across the street). The house is very huge and can hold way more than 8 people. We're 2 families with young kids and didn't even occupy one of the bedroom. The property was well maintained and the owner was very helpful. The kids fish almost everyday and Cedar Point just 4 minutes down the street. There are so many activities to do here and the kids was not ready to end our trip. Thank you for making our trip enjoyable and memorable.

Wonderful home!

  • 5 of 5

This home was our Ladies getaway retreat. 7 women age 50+. We needed enough beds and bathrooms to accommodate us comfortably. This home was it. Just up the road from Cedar Point, this was nice because we were able to leave and return in the evening to finish up after dinner. The next day some went to Put in Bay and a few went golfing. The deck on the back was spacious and overlooked the lake (on the calm side). Within a minute walk I was up the road taking pictures of the sunrise on the windy side of the lake. The pictures of the outside made the house look small, do not be fooled, it was very spacious. And the photos of the inside were on point (if not understated). We met the owner, he was very nice, and his mother, she was very helpful. I would definitely recommend this place to family, friends and anyone else looking to get away.
