Hey Tracie- we loved your house. Location was just what we wanted. Thanks for the bikes too! That saved us a trip to the bike rental place. We love Austin and can't wait to come back and stay with you again. Thanks!

P.S. We love the BBQ at Salt Lick in Driftwood. Outlets in San Marcos fun too! Disc golf at Barton Springs/Zilker Park & Met Center fun too!

I've lived in Austin for over 15 years now and love everything this city has to offer. I'm interested in sustainable living and have really taken to the urban farming movement. As a result of my interest in sustainability, I founded Austin's Annual Funky Chicken Coop Tour, which had its first successful tour in 2009.

The Owner purchased this house in 2004

I chose Austin because of all the great outdoor activities and the live music scene, which is why I chose to purchase this particular property back in 2004. This location has much to offer... very close to downtown, 2 blocks from the hike and bike trail and Lady Bird Lake, great coffee shops and restaurants, live music, you name it... it's here.

IDEAL LOCATION FOR LEARNING THE INS AND OUTS OF AUSTIN

  • 5 of 5
This was an ideal spot for exploring the city. I am planning on moving to Austin and the location was perfect to learn from and maneuver around Austin. Tracie was a terrific asset for me and assisted me in learning the ins and outs of the city.
All places recommended by Tracie were terrific.

EVERYTHING WAS GREAT

  • 5 of 5
Great little house, great location, perfect for what we needed. Especially good if you want to get around via bike. We did not have a car and used the two bikes included to get around.

QUAINT HOME IN FUN LOCATION WITH VERY HANDY BIKES!

  • 4 of 5
We enjoyed our stay in Austin and would recommend others to stay at Traci's place. The bikes were incredibly convenient and the accommodation was comfortable. Traci was helpful and generous with her advice and time. The house is clean and well kept and she responds to feedback from her visitors. As first-timers visitors to Austin, we were a little wary of the area but after a few days, we could see that it was exactly the place to be. It has a ton of charm and is totally safe. I definitely recommend exploring the surrounding area if you stay here. Also conveniently close to the beginning of the river path so you can run, bike or walk the whole thing. Thanks Traci!

VERY BASIC ACCOMMODATIONS- DEFINATELY NOT FOR COLD WEATHER DAYS.

  • 2 of 5
The place looked exactly like the photos that were provided. Although the space was the perfect size and was clean and very organized, it was easy to see that materials used to construct the place were very basic and cheap. We arrived along with the coldest front they had seen in a long time so we were pretty much stuck in the one bedroom where the heater was located. It was about 22 degrees and felt colder with the windshield. We were most concern because we had our 5 month old baby with us. There were drafts coming in all windows, and there were about 10 windows in the enter space. Had it not been so cold, this would not have been an issue. On the upside, the windows made it a very bright place to be.

It was very nice to be able to park the car in the driveway and come in either through the front or back door.

The location was fabulous. Just minutes from the downtown area. Location could not have been better.

When we arrived, the keyless entry on the back door was not working so the owner came out to give us the front door key. She said that she was losing her voice so basically she just handed us the key and walked away. Then we asked about an extra heater to warm up the living room space. When we plugged it in, the fuse tripped so we had to call her to reset it, which she did so kindly. But we never heard from her again until the moment we were packing our car rental to leave. At that point she wanted to know how our stay had gone. A little to late for that.

Overall, the stay was really very basic. The location was the best feature of all.

Owner's Response: I regret that Carmen is dissatisfied and am surprised with some of her comments. The house is great for cold weather days and can get very cozy... as Carmen did tell me that the house got nice and warm and that the heater was like having your own personal fireplace. The only time the house was cold was when they first arrived because they came several hours before check-in and I had just turned the heater on right before they arrived. I expressed to her that I would have made sure the house was nice and warm for their arrival had I known they were going to be early.

Upon meeting them, I did much more than hand them the key and walk away. I was really sick and started with telling them I had lost my voice (so it wouldn't seem weird that I was whispering to them), but then proceeded to discuss the key-less entry, followed by giving them the key, we discussed the parking situation, and I asked them to call me if they needed anything. I felt like we discussed everything that needed to be discussed with the check in process, and at that point, I politely excused myself so I could go crawl back in bed. I really did the best I could to be helpful to them.

Carmen called me every time she needed something, which I responded to her every need gladly and promptly, and I did call her long before the day they were checking out to make sure everything was alright. I contacted them on the day they were leaving to let her know where to leave the key and I offered to let them stay later when I found out their flight wasn't until late that day. I didn't, however, spend time visiting with them face to face because I did not want to get Carmen or her baby sick by being around me.

I feel badly that the weather conditions were so bad during her stay, but hopefully future guests can see that the warmth of the house isn't an issue since I have never had a complaint before Carmen's about the house being cold.

GREAT LOCATION, SAFE NEIGHBOORHOOD, PERFECT FOR COUPLE RETREAT!

  • 4 of 5
This was our first trip to Austin and loved it. The place is very close to downtown and the park. It is super cozy. The place had everything we needed. Tracy was very helpful by providing information pertaining to our trip. I would definitely recommend it to family and friends.

The Pros:
Close to downtown,
Breakfast tacos across the street! YUMMMMM
Bikes
Felt like a natural backyard escape
Safe neighborhood
Close to Parks

Con: While the bed was comfortable, it seemed to lack support in the middle which made it feel like you were rolling/ sinking toward the center of the bed.

SWEET COTTAGE IN A COOL NEIGHBORHOOD

  • 5 of 5
We loved staying in this place during our visit to Austin. It's very small, but comfortable, and super cute. The neighborhood is fun and a little funky—in NYC terms, more east village than upper east side—and very well located. We were able to walk to the lake (took advantage of the bikes, too) and quickly get downtown (we probably could have walked downtown as well but it was 100 degrees outside). What we appreciated most was the owner's availability; she checked in with us and we felt she was there if we needed her. She also was liberal with the air conditioner, making sure the house was cool before we got there.
