Gay Head - Aquinnah House Rental Photos and Description

- 3 BR, 2 BA plus outdoor shower. Sleeps 6

Built in 2007, this ocean front home has a private trail through rolling sand dunes down to a white sand beach that stretches for miles. Right out front is Dog Fish Bar, a world class fishing location. Sand bars stretch for a mile right out front making for great adventuring at low tide. A great spot for swimming, kayaking, relaxing etc This is a real destination. You might not use your car for days.

Most of the furniture is antiques from Asia. Two bedrooms have queen beds and one has two twin beds.

We have cable TV and high speed internet with WiFi.

The views stretch from the Gay Head cliffs to Cuttyhunk to Woods Hole to Menemsha....and it is breathtaking!

Why Adam Gebb chose Gay Head - Aquinnah

This property is a destination. We often spend days without getting in a car.

What makes this house unique

Even at the peak of tourism in August the local area is quiet and empty. The beach has long empty stretches every day .

Breathtakingly beautiful views, amazing house

  • 5 of 5

I didn't think the house and views could exceed the gorgeous pictures posted, but they do!

First time to Martha's Vineyard, myself, my 2 sons and their girlfriends (from NY, NJ and MA) were looking for a beautiful place to spend our Thanksgiving holiday (including cooking the Turkey dinner). Our family experienced a loss recently, so we wanted a very special place to gather for this holiday. We wanted a place overlooking the ocean with that wind-swept, alone-with-nature, no neighbors feel, and it is exactly that, and more.

The house is wonderful, period. The kitchen is fabulous and very well equipped, the bedrooms great, the living areas fantastic and the deck wonderful (even in the cold!).

Long walks on the amazing beaches, long conversations on the couches overlooking the ocean - no matter what the weather this house is amazing. Sunsets to endlessly photograph. We feel so snuggled in when it's storming, with dramatic seascapes from every window - and when it's sunny it's equally amazing. Completely exceeds the rather high expectations I had.

My son, not given to effusive compliments, said 'Mom, I'll remember this week forever'. So will I.

The owner, Adam, is great. Responsive, and interested in us having a wonderful time - he called after we got here to make sure we knew how to get to the more out-of-the-way, breathtaking beach walks. His family has furnished this home wonderfully in an interesting, eclectic way, which increases the experience - no hotel furniture-type house - it really does elevate enjoyment of our vacation. He responds immediately to any emails or requests and really cares about not only Martha's Vineyard, the area and the house, but that his renters enjoy it as much as his family does.

I feel very, very fortunate to have stumbled onto this complete gem, and will rent again from Adam in the future.

FYI: The WiFi Internet works great (I own an Internet business and can't be disconnected, even on vacation), our cellphones, AT&T and Verizon, work fine enough. There is one -only one- neighbor pretty close, but you can't see the neighboring house from 90% of windows

Perfection

  • 5 of 5

My three-night stay at Adam's "House in the Dunes" could not have been more perfect. Stunning location, exquisitely furnished home, access to some of the most spectacular places on the Vineyard. A full 180 degree view of the horizon provided majestic vistas from sunrise to sunset. I would be thrilled to return to this place!

Natural

  • 5 of 5

I love this place. My wife and I have been coming here once or twice a year for several years. I dream of it, and when I know I'm gonna be going, I start to get excited like a kid on Christmas morning. The house has just the right mix of wildness and creature comfort, and is full of light. One is acutely aware of the presence of nature all around you. Hawks were in residence in the dunes during our most recent stay, catching fish and showing off their prizes to us, daring us to try to take it away. My wife saw a whale come close by. Because of its unique orientation one gets awoken by the sun and watches it set from the deck and the kitchen. I feel like I am on the set of the "Summer of '42". For me, Martha's Vineyard is quintessential New England maritime, and this house, the dunes, the cliffs, the lighthouse, are the very best of that world. Thank you, Adam!

A magical place to stay on the Vineyard!

  • 5 of 5

If your looking for a magical place to stay on the Vineyard this is the place. The views are incredible. The house is so comfortable and I slept great every night! I found myself never wanting to leave to go into town!

I find myself to be super creative when I'm at the House in the Dunes. If you need your muse to speak to you then this is the place for you!

Relaxing and Rejuvenating

  • 5 of 5

We stayed here with our family last summer for a week. With a view of the ocean from nearly every window, it was as nice to be inside as outside! We could watch the waves while cooking, eating, or relaxing in the living room. The well-stocked amenities made our stay simple. It was an easy walk through the dunes to the beautiful, nearly empty beach. We rarely got in our car! The furnishings were homey and exotic at the same time. It's truly a great get-away ... we highly recommend it!
