Island architecture offers year round resort type lifestyle. A Guest House (3 bed/2 bath) with solar heated salt water swimming pool (separating it from the main house) can accommodate 6 guests comfortably. All rooms have decks with incredible views of the Bay and the Koolau Mountains. Situated on a knoll overlooking the boat house and dock gives instant access to water activities such as fishing, kayaking, water skiing or just sitting by the edge of the grass to enjoy the sound of the water lapping at the shore. Reading a book in the gazebo under the shade of the coconut tree and cooled by the trade wind breezes offers quiet comfort. Myriad pictures for photographs from sunrise to sunset available to enhance your memories of a trip to Paradise. A spacious free-flowing living space that blurs the line between indoors and out.
Our suites are available for 2 to 6 persons. You do not have to take the entire 3+2. Please call for details.
We are surrounded by palm trees waving in the tradewind breezes, birds singing in the trees shading the property, many different hues of blue in the water and sky coloring the landscape. Each morning is a new canvas already painted for you to enjoy.
My husband and I are both from New York and met in Hawaii. We built the houses in 1972 and continue to add, improve and update on a regular basis. The guest house was originally for our 3 daughters and is now used by our visitors. The pool and deck separate the master house (where my husband and I live) from the guest house.
Gail Morris purchased this house in 1972
This property is at the end of a short dead end street on a knoll overlooking the bay. We have a 360 degree view from the water to the Ko'olau Mountains. We have lived on this property for over 40 years and have been sharing it with guests for more than 25. We love it, we love Hawaii and hope our guests discover what we have found, 'the secrets of Paradise...'
We are out of the hustle and bustle of city life but close enough to get everywhere on the island within minutes, from the North Shore to Diamond Head with Honolulu and Waikiki in between. It's easy to get to all those places but not having to deal with traffic and congestion every minute affords you quiet time to relax and really enjoy your vacation.
We had a marvelous time here for a small family gathering. The design of the lovely home suited us perfectly, as we were able to spend hours on the glass door surrounded lanai, eating, drinking, even working on some paperwork business tasks while enjoying the panoramic views unimpeded by winds. So quiet and peaceful, but steps away from the bay, for those wanting to kayak, canoe, etc.. The salt water pool was outstanding-beautiful blue glass tiled bottom, nice for a cooling dip or even a few laps, added great serenity! Also loved the collection of sculptures, landscaping, retro vibe. Gail and George were such welcoming hosts, offering much helpful info and advise. Hope to return again in the future!
The view of the bay was amazing. The location was a short 15 min drive from the airport. I would recommend this property to my friends and family.
Gail and Red was really nice and very hospitable.
My wife and I and her sisters family had a great time and the the pool was refreshing after a long day out.
We stayed at this unique house in May and had a lovely time. The owners were very hospitable and we would definitely stay there again! The kitchen had everything I needed but we didn't cook too much. The kayaks included with the rental were fun and we paddled all around the bay. There is a nice quiet spot on the shoreline with grass and chairs to lounge. We rented this house as a "3 bedroom" and had the main living area on the right side of the main level. The house is very unique and there is a nice smaller unit on the lower level with new furnishings (we didn't rent this part but it looked nice). The only drawback to the house is the outdoor living area where we spent most of our time is shared space between the owners "side" of the house and the rental part.. so there it is not private. For our group this didn't really matter - but if you want to be "secluded" you might not love this place. The salt water pool was small and chilly, but we all enjoyed floating in it for a little while. You will want to rent a car as you can't walk to anything from this house. I have spent a bunch of time in Oahu and MUCH prefer this side if the island because its beautiful, has local places and is not super expensive and touristy. This house gives you a "home base" that is great to explore both North and South of the bay. Make sure to go to Kailua Beach - you can rent SUPs and Kayaks and have a great time over there. Also drive to North Shore and stop at Teds Bakery for plate lunch or sweets.
Thank you very much Morris Ohana.
We had dinner with our friends who lives in Waikiki.Gail greeted kindly to my friends.
We spent drinking eating talking in comfortable living area.
Otherwise we felt happy time that riding in kayak.
We never forget this wonderful experience.
Thank you very much.
This was the perfect home to have a gathering of family and friends to celebrate Thanksgiving. I want to thank the hosts for opening their hearts and sharing their home with us. Everything about our stay worked. The sleeping accommodations, having a galley kitchen, the lanais where we could all be together to laugh and have conversations that we have not had in years. The hostess made reservations for us to take a tour of the museum and other landmarks in Honolulu. We also had the freedom to prepare our favorite family dishes for the Thanksgiving. The guest quarters are well stocked with whatever it is you may want. Each room has a lanai, a beautiful view, and is well appointed. Everything that Patti said in her review holds true for me too. Thank you to the host and hostess for a most loving and memorable family gathering. Much Aloha. Kathleen
Location, views, hospitality are more than 5 star! Our family spent 9 days at Red & Gail's Kaneohe Bay retreat and enjoyed every moment. They are consummate hosts and provided us with immeasurable ideas of places to dine and see. One was the Doris Duke's Shangri La Estate located in Honolulu and not to be missed.
Once you enter through the gates of the Kaneohe Bay home you are truly in another world. Views of the Bay, a beautiful and spacious lanai to rest, relax and unwind and the salt water pool is delightful. It has more of a resort feel without all the people! Each of the bedrooms have a private lanai as well. Having laundry facilities is another plus as is the efficiency kitchen just perfect for our needs. Mahalo to the Morris Ohana for providing us with such a splendid and extremely affordable home for us to celebrate the Thanksgiving holiday. We are already planning our next visit back!
We are on the east side of the island between windsurfing at Kailua and Lanikai beaches to the south and board surfing on the North Shore. We are 15 minutes from the airport, 25 minutes from Honolulu and 30 minutes to Waikiki. Visiting Pearl Harbor, attending a luau, seeing Sea Life Park, climbing Diamond Head, watching the big board surfers on the North Shore are among some of the 'must do's' while on Oahu.
Other Activities: Movies, shopping and dining at the Windward Mall, swimming at Kailua and Lanikai beaches, close to Hoomaluhia Botanical Gardens, Temple Valley Byodo-in, beautiful Haiku Gardens, Polynesian Cultural Center, Northshore beaches and surfing, Chinaman's Hat at Kualoa Beach Park, Waimea Bay and falls, Tropical flavored shave ice in Haleiwa, Turtle Bay Resort golfing, southside Sea Life Park, Makapuu and Sandy Beach, Hanauma Bay, Waikiki, Diamond Head, Zoo, Chinatown, Manoa Falls, Koolina Resort, Pearl Harbor, whale watching, picture taking,
