Great location, plenty of space!

  • 5 of 5
This was a fabulous vacation house with lots of room for everyone in our group and walking distance from a great town. The beds were very comfortable and the number of rooms meant that everyone had privacy. The first floor was a little musty, so those of us with sensitivity to mold could not stay down there. The common room was the dining room just off the kitchen on the second floor, and it was a little small for all of us to gather. All in all, we had a great experience.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the five star rating. I appreciate your pointing out the mustiness of ground floor:It has been fully dealt with. Also, there is an additional table for dining room seating but I may have forgotten to let you know. Apologies. All in all, Im glad you had a great experience. Your feedback helps us to keep up our very high standards.

What a great area.

The place was just great. Went for a wedding that was a few towns over. Stayed there with a large group. The owner's were really welcoming and even though I was in a foul mood from a long car ride with kids, they told me the house was soothing. It certainly was. There was ample space. It was just a neat home. The town is adorable. There was a bridge covered with flowers and an odd parade the day we were there. There is also a glacial pool within walking distance of the house. Really neat environment. I felt like a local the whole place was so welcoming. Favorite part of Massachusetts: They don't waste their time gardening unless whatever they are planting is going to bloom. I felt like the whole area was in bloom. It was just gorgeous.

Loved it!

  • 5 of 5
We came into Shelburne Falls with 7 adults and 5 kids in order to attend a wedding about 20 miles away. Didn't get there until late, but our hosts met us in the driveway, gave us a great tour of the house, and were simply wonderful to meet. The house is so cool. We had one group with the baby on the first floor, my wife and I on the second floor, and a third family on the third floor! By the way, we didn't fill up the house. Construction is so cool all the guys spent time going over the beams and roof (especially the roof), and we even tried out how to make slate shingles on our own (check out Youtube). We lucked out entirely when we found out that River Fest was going on the next morning. We all walked from the house to downtown (about a block, fantastic location!), toured the flower bridge, the town and the river. Another wonderful time, then back home to a sit down and play in the back yard that kept everyone happy. River Fest is very cool, and the results of the glacial migration which created the river itself are unbelieveable to view. We all got our pictures taken with the river at our backs! One feature of the house we still talk about is the kitchen/living room area on the second floor. We all sat there 2 evenings and visited and played. For 3 days none of us ever had a TV on or even the radio. Just cool and comfortable. Thanks for everything, we loved it.

Perfect for what we needed!

  • 5 of 5
Family reunion weekend for our daughter's graduation from UMass Amherst. The owners' sons were very welcoming and accommodating. We loved the character of this old house. 7 bedrooms and 3 bathrooms over 3 floors gave us plenty of space and privacy to make everyone comfortable. Large backyard for kids to run around. Easy 5 minute walk into the delightful little town for the afternoon. We would recommend this and we would come back.

Perfect accommodations in a superlative setting!

  • 5 of 5
My friends and I spent our fourth annual New Year's together in what has become a lovely tradition. This house exceeded all of our expectations and we have never stayed in a nicer town. I was so charmed by Buckland and Shelburne Falls and I can't wait to go back to see it in full bloom in the summertime, although it was still stunning in the winter.

The house was roomy enough for our party of 12, the decor was lovely and everything was quite clean. The beds were comfortable, the upstairs shower is spa-like and the kitchen was fully equipped and well laid out for making large group meals.

Most of all, our hosts were warm, gracious and easy to reach. It was a pleasure getting to know them a bit and they went above and beyond to make sure we had all that we needed, including an almost absurd amount of firewood for the wood-burning stove. While it's the house and the amenities that are most important when renting a house, having kind and approachable rental owners to work with makes the experience just that much smoother and more enjoyable. We hope to return soon! I can't recommend this house highly enough.
