Barn, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 4)

Guest house in back of historic family home 3 blocks from the historic Sonoma Plaza with its Northernmost mission on the Mission Trail and the fort and barracks where the original Bear Flag proclaiming the independence of California was raised.

This is a first time offering to experience one of the original homes in Sonoma - a 1860 farmhouse with its original smokehouse and carriage house (or guest house or barn) still in use.

The guest house is one large, unique space with 1 queen bed and 1 queen futon, a table and 4 chairs, partial kitchen (microwave, refrigerator, dishes and pans), a bath with shower, a piano, TV and lots of books and games. Outside is a large yard with deck perfect for entertaining or just lounging.

From the property you can walk to world-famous restaurants and great shopping as well as to several wineries. Biking is fabulous. Short trips are easy to other Sonoma and Napa vineyards, a huge amusement park, a small 'train town' for little ones, parks, and tennis. In less than an hour you can be in San Francisco having crossed the famous Golden Gate Bridge.

We love to share this fabulous guest house with people interested in Sonoma's history and culture.

About The Owner

The owners are a retired couple who just celebrated their 53rd wedding anniversary. The husband was a physicist and now writes theological books; the wife was an attorney who ran large real estate companies. Their two grown children are in the computer game industry and were the developers of the game, 'Diablo.' They enjoy their 'granddogs' visits to the home but are allergic to cats. They also have a home in Baja California.

The Owner purchased this barn in 1996
Why The Owner chose Sonoma

We purchased this home as our retirement house because of its fabulous location and the weather in the area. We fell in love with it within minutes after entering the front door - not having yet seen the wonderful yard and outbuildings.

What makes this barn unique

We are an easy 5 minute walk to the historic Sonoma plaza.

Wonderful experience!!

My husband and I stayed at this charming guesthouse for two nights to explore Sonoma and Napa Valley before heading up to Oregon. We thoroughly enjoyed this lovely property that had everything we needed and more! It was super clean and very well maintained with lots of extra touches you just don't find in your ordinary hotel room. The owners were very helpful and even accommodated our very early check-in. We would definitely recommend this cute "barn" (I like calling it a barn because how many times can you say you stayed in a barn!). Be sure to check out the many pictures of friends and relatives on the walls and you may find you know someone, like we did! All the way from Michigan!

Perfect Hosts and Perfect Location

I stayed at this cute Farmhouse with my boyfriend for a wedding weekend. Our stay was perfect: very close to the square, welcoming hosts and every detail was taken care of. When I booked our stay, I spoke with the owner and she was so friendly- I knew this would be perfect. When we arrived, every detail was perfect down to the new bar of soap in the shower. The bed was heavenly- I wanted to sleep in it all day! You will not go wrong if you stay here!

We stayed here for 3 nights when we ran the Napa-Sonoma half marathon. The house was very clean and comfortable, and included everything we needed. The property is a short walk from the plaza and restaurants, and we also enjoyed relaxing in the yard as it is very peaceful. Sandy and Rick were very good hosts and helpful with suggestions for places to eat and things to do. We would not hesitate to recommend this property to friends and family and would definitely stay there again. Thanks again to Sandy and Rick.

so cute and the location could not be better!

We stayed here in July and I have to say the pictures do not do it justice. The guest house has so much charm and the backyard was so beautiful and relaxing. It was a short stroll to Sonoma Square to great restaurants and several great tasting rooms. Rick and Sandy were such gracious hosts. We would stay here again in a heartbeat! You will not be disappointed,

We were within walking distance to the Sonoma square, but yet felt like we were miles away in our own private guesthouse. The gracious owners make you feel welcome and everything is gorgeous! We had an absolutely wonderful time. Thank you!
