Casa del Sol Naciente, or The House of the Rising Sun, provides a little bit of luxury with a rustic charm and a very modern Mexican feel. A fabulous place to stay if you want to spend time in the best part of Texas. This gorgeous one story stucco home is centrally located in Alpine close to all the local amenities.

This house has central air and heat, custom cabinets, all tile floors, modern conveniences and 2 car garage. With 3 private bedrooms and 2 baths, we can accommodate six (6) people. All linens and house wares provided. Washer and dryer as an added convenience, plus a great foosball table!

About The Owner

Alpine is the coolest small town in the west. We have been traveling to West Texas for 5 years and we decided we wanted to put down some roots there. It's a long drive, but it is so worth it! We are both tri-athletes and use the house as a training base for long weekends of swimming, biking and running. This place is great for bikes, with or without an engine! We decided to call this house 'Casa del Sol Naciente'...'House of the Rising Sun'. The house has interesting artwork depicting a rising sun, roosters, and of course the famous 'House of the Rising Sun' musical artists, The Animals and Leadbelly. The decor is modern, it's Texan, it's English, its Pottery Barn meets Mexico!

Why The Owner chose Alpine

We love the area and the abundance of beauty it offers. We also love the people who live in the area who are so freindly and welcoming. It's a great place to get away from everything and just enjoy life!

We chose Alpine and the Ft. Davis mountain area because it is such a great place to swim, bike, run. We spend a lot of our time in the area cycling and with few vehicles on the road, the high altitude and some terrific hill climbs, it's a great place to cycle and run. There are also great swimming options; Balmorhea State Park is near-by as well as access to the Sul Ross University 30 meter swimming/lap pool for a $5.00 fee. We've outfitted the house with a few 'tri basics'; water bottles, day bags, bike tools, beach towels...etc.

Great training and beautiful surroundings...perfect!

What makes this house unique

Comfortable surroundings, side porch to enjoy morning coffee, afternoon lunches or just bird watching. The house is equipped with wireless internet, washer and dryer, fooseball table and 2 car garage for added security and ease.

Trekking to West Texas is always an adventure. Like someone said, you don't pass through Alpine on your way anywhere - it's a destination. Casa Del Sol is where you need to be if you find yourself in Alpine. The house is exactly as described & better. The location is perfect since everything is only 2-3 minutes away no matter where you are in Alpine. The beds were comfy, the kitchen loaded (we couldn't find a wine opener, but we made due!) and the house clean. Rhonda was so helpful & promptly answered all of our questions! We will be visiting again ... SOON!!!

Great house, great location . Perfect central location to visit Marfa and Fort David Good shopping in Alpine, great little shops in Fort Davis. We cooked most of the time at night but did have a good meal at the Reata before we left. House was great just wish there was seating for 6 in the living room. We used the kitchen chairs to fill in. The museum is a must visit, as is the rock shop beside The Antler Hotel.
