Peaceful spot yet close to town

My husband and I stayed here with 2 other couples and found it to be the perfect size and location. We walked to Al Johnson's Swedish Restaurant most mornings for breakfast then across to the waterfront. The photos don't do the home justice. The decor of the house is lovely, there is an extremely warm gas fireplace, and the bedroom arrangements are perfect for a small family or 3 couples. The upstairs master bedroom was wonderful, with a private balcony overlooking the wooded lot. The loft area with a futon is right outside the master bedroom upstairs, so it might be good for those with small children, assuming you could block the stairs. Even with being close to town, it still feels very private and quiet. The outside deck is quite large and would be great for family meals or just enjoying the peaceful setting. There is plenty of parking for the home as well. Our only complaint was the outside "stairway" you have to climb to reach the front door, which is really just a steep mulch ramp with occasional stepping stones. This is the only way to reach the front door of the home and my 65 year old mother had some trouble traversing it. Unless the owner fixes this, it would seem something to be cautious of for those traveling with the elderly or disabled. We would highly recommend this home for young to middle age groups who want a decent size home in a location that's walking distance to downtown Sister Bay, but still crave peace & quiet.

Owner's Response: Thank you for your thoughtful review! Yes, the home is perfectly located to walk everywhere in downtown Sister Bay, especially to Al Johnson's and the waterfront park (including the beach), yet is quiet and feels very private because of the wooded lot. Yes, the path up to the door is a little steep; some people might have trouble navigating it. The incline itself is not even as steep as a set of stairs, the footing is just a little uneven so guests do need to use caution. Thanks again for your stay and your review!
