Cottage rental includes two-seat kayak, paddles and safety jackets. Linens & all towels provided.

Available May-November: Spring is the great awakening -- fishing and bird-watching are both at their best -- a chance to savor the long days without the summer crowds.

Summer hardly needs mentioning -- July 4th parades and fireworks, boating, swimming, hiking, fishing, relaxing, eating -- classic Maine!

Fall is for foliage (peaking around the second-third week of October) and festivals, as well as boating, swimming, hiking, hunting, etc.

Rents by the week (Saturday-Saturday). Hand-built by local craftsman, this house is truly one-of-a-kind.

All bedrooms have windows facing the lake.

Wireless broadband Internet in all rooms and reaches throughout the property. Surf the web on your phone or pad while sitting on the dock or floating in the kayak.

My parents bought this property in the early 60's: They were both teachers and had summer vacation free to live in Maine. As a result I vacationed and summered in the area for my whole child-life. I held jobs in the blueberry business both raking and on a farm receiving and transfer station. I grew to appreciate the abundant wildlife and natural beauty that this site and the surrounding area had to offer. I learned that Acadia National Park is the only National Park in the North East. By day, if it wasn't blueberry season yet, I swam in the lake, read (you'll have internet), hiked or biked down the dirt road or just generally communed with nature. The Owls, Loons, Toads and Cicadas are a nightly symphony.

Now I bring the kids back to do the same. They love to wander on the dirt road, swim, kayak, play ping pong, air-hockey and basketball, and have the nightly campfire and s'mores. All on a quiet and private 4-acre lake-front site.

It is a great location with easy access to Ellsworth, Bangor (I-95), Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park.

Relaxed and rejuvenated

  • 5 of 5

We couldn't have asked for a better house or location. From the moment we pulled up, it felt like we were home for the week. Every morning I brought my cup of coffee down to the docks for a moment of peace before our day began exploring the area. Acadia was a quick 40 minute trip south, which we took advantage of 3 of the 7 days we were there. It was even better because we went right after the busy season and therefore didn't have to deal with the crowds. Vacation for us is a time to reflect and relax, and that's exactly what you'll get with this house. From sitting out on the deck listening to the sounds off nature at night, to opening up the French doors in the living room, inviting the outside in, this house had it all. Thank you so much for an amazing place to retreat to.

Refunded without a problem

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I were really looking forward to staying at this cottage. Unfortunately about 7 or 8 weeks before the vacation my husband was in a serious car accident and we were forced to cancel. Mitch was very understanding and issued us a full refund. We are looking forward to re-booking our vacation with him.

The house and surrounding area was amazing. Easy drive to Acadia and other attractions/towns. Shopping was convenient. It was VERY quiet, which was wonderful. House was furnished with everything we needed and the owner was very responsive to our questions prior to and during our stay.

Awesome getaway

  • 5 of 5

We found this great retreat thanks to a friend that lives in the area and were so glad she told us!! Found the house clean well taken care of and with plenty of space for all of us. The kids were occupied between the air hockey table inside and the boats outside. We were kept occupied visiting and eating as the kitchen there is just like being at home it has everything a chef needs! This is a great place to stay and we will definitely be back this year.

Great place to get away from it all.

We really enjoyed our stay at the Goldman's home in Eastbrook. The house was very well accomdated and supplied and is very child friendly. My toddler had a blast there with all of the games and fun things to do outdoors. Mitch was very easy to communicate with and the entire reservation process was very simple. He also provided me with lots of great informaiton to make the most of our stay. Thanks for a great vacation!

Great House For All Seasons!

  • 5 of 5

Great house for all seasons! Quiet, serene & away from it all. Being from NYC this was a welcome change for all of us. It felt like we had a better chance of seeing a bear than people! Secluded yet close enough to town & other activities- like Acadia National Park & Bar Harbor. This year we rented in the Spring which was perfect weather for our hiking & biking adventures in Acadia. Last year we rented in mid August, at the height of blueberry season & perfect for feasting on blueberries. Both were great fun for young & old alike.

Both times, from the moment you step out of the car & into the driveway you can smell the pine/fir trees all around. Mmmm...nature at its best! Across the road is a huge blueberry field. The birds are chirping & the chipmunks are scurrying about. Down the path is the pond, alive with sounds of ducks, loons, frogs & various other wildlife. We’ve even seen an adult & a baby Bald Eagle & a Great Blue Heron!

The house was clean, new & spacious enough that our boys claimed the upstairs & we claimed the master bedroom on the main floor. Our toddler daughter slept in a child size futon in the bedroom with us. On the kitchen table, the Goldman’s left a House Book, welcoming us with a wealth of info about the nearby area, dining & events that we found very helpful. They also left current newspapers & other guides that made planning our day trips easier. Loved the PC connected to the internet, preloaded with helpful shortcuts to Maine links & guides!

We swam in the pond, kayaked in the early morning when the mist was still coming up off the water, played ping pong, darts & air hockey, did arts & crafts & played with the dollhouse on the screened in porch, swayed in the hammock, barbecued, took walks down the road to the little sand beach & watched the dragonflies follow us down the path, roasted marshmallows, made s'mores & ate blueberries. On rainy days we played games & puzzles. The house also had wireless broad band internet so we could watch TV/movies.

It was a great escape from the everyday craziness & never ending chores. Time seemed to slow down for a while when we were here. Springtime offered us very little traffic & congestion. It was like having the road & sites all to ourselves. Summertime especially mid-August was great too because of all the blueberries & pancake breakfasts!

Next time we’ll rent in the fall. I can only imagine how beautiful the pond & countryside will look with the foliage ablaze with color!

NOTICE: on Google Maps there are two Abrams Pond Roads. The road this house is on is really called Dickens Farm Rd., and is marked at the turn-off with a normal green street sign. Dickens Farm Rd. becomes a dirt road that goes down between two barns. Our driveway is 1/2 mile down the dirt road, on the right.

Eastbrook is close to Ellsworth, Bangor, Bar Harbor and Acadia National Park. Close enough for easy access even during peak times, or you can remain at 'camp' and avoid the crowds altogether. Depending when you go you may not see any other people, around camp and the lake, all week. There is no better location in New England for outdoor activities such as hiking, kayaking, sailing, beach-combing, and fall foliage viewing.
