Casa Sisal Is Stunning!
My wife and I flew into Cancun from Milwaukee. After meeting our son, his wife, and their thirteen month old son at the airport (they flew in from New York City), we rented a car. The three hour drive via the toll road was pleasant and there was only light traffic. We stopped at a toll road service area for cappuccino and a rest room break. The coffee shop was called "Italian Coffee" and was similar to Starbucks.
Casa Sisal is stunning! The pictures and owner's description are very detailed and accurate. Having said that, it was even nicer in person than we expected. We swam in the pool every day and enjoyed the two acre yard for Frisbee, etc. The staff was very helpful. We arrived to chips and homemade salsa as well as freshly baked banana bread. The house is large and well equipped. Everything that we needed was there for us. They even provided a "porta-play" type crib for the baby. The house served as a unique place to hang out as well as a base for nearby sights and activities. Within a 30 to 60 minute drive there are many Mayan ruins, cenotes, haciendas, convents and historic towns. We went to Merida (we liked Paseo Montejo which is a beautiful boulevard with old mansions); Cuzama Cenote (sadly we only had time to see and swim in one of the three cenotes there); the seaside town of Progreso (disappointing compared to Playa Del Carmen or Tulum); the nearby Hacienda Teya (we had a very nice lunch). We were only able to stay 3 nights at Casa Sisal and wish we could have stayed longer.
