Autumn Beauty in Bass Harbor

  • 5 of 5

We stayed at Ebb Tide this fall for a month and it wasn't long enough! The house is close to Acadia National Park with its natural beauty and activities.. It overlooks Bass Harbor with its 10 foot tides, yet it is secluded with tall pines, flowers, and rose bushes. The views form the privacy of our living room or outside Adirondack chairs was spectacular, especially at sunset. Our miniature poodle was well accepted by Rudy, the host dog. Shelley and Larry could not have been more thoughtful. Fresh flowers were in the house when we arrived and weekly thereafter.

The kitchen is well equipped, the furniture is very comfortable and stylish. The house is open and airy with natural light. The second floor master bedroom has beautiful views of the harbor. The walkway from the parking area has a few stone steps downhill.

Overall, we couldn't have picked a better spot, better weather, or better hosts than we experienced at Ebb Tide. We look forward to returning someday.

Well worth the wait!

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I waited a long time to rent this home - everytime we were available, it wasn't. But this year we lucked out- celebrated our 40th anniversary here and it was well worth the wait! The home is beautiful and extremely comfortable and very clean - and our hosts were wonderful. Shelly made us - and especially me - feel like we were old friends. And of course, Rudy - their beloved Golden Retriever - made being away from our dog easier. Unfortunately our weather didn't cooperate the way we had hoped it would - on arrival, it was very hot and humid, making it almost impossible to relax on the patio and a few days later we had rain - lots of rain, and fog and the temps bottomed out. But we were able to get out and explore neighboring towns, Acadia National Park and even visited Campobello, the summer home of Franklin and Eleanor Roosevelt. It was great having such a wonderful base to come back to in the evening. If we ever get the chance to visit Maine again - we would definitely stay at Ebb Tide. Shelly and Larry, thank you for letting us stay in your home away from home.

A wonderful rental!

  • 5 of 5

We recently spent a week at this home along with our dog. We couldn't have asked for a more

comfortable home in a beautiful setting. The view of the harbor was great and the gardens were

lovely. Everything possible was provided and not just starter supplies. When it got unexpectedly

hot Shelley bought extra fans to make it more comfortable. She was always eager to offer tips

and suggestions for activities. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby without going into

Bar Harbor. There are good hiking opportunities nearby as well. I would highly recommend this

property. We use vrbo frequently and this was one of the best homes and owners we have

encountered.

Great honeymoon locale

  • 5 of 5

My wife and I spent our honeymoon at Ebb TIde. It was just perfect! A great setting right on Bass Harbor. The hosts were very warm, gracious and welcoming. A great location near Bass Harbor Light House and just a few minutes drive from Southwest Harbor. The property was very clean and well represented by the photos. We enjoyed sunsets from the adirondack chairs, fires in the family room and the soaking tub. We will be back!

Call it Serendipity

  • 5 of 5

My husband and I needed an emergency vacation; Ebb Tide had an emergency cancellation. The result was a relaxing, restorative week that could not have been better. The reviews are not exaggerated and the house is as beautiful and peaceful as you imagine when scrolling through the photo album. Shelley and Larry (and let us not omit Rudy) were very welcoming, helpful hosts who provided great information on the area while being ultra respectful of our privacy. The house is fully stocked -- they have thought of everything!

Do I need to say that we did not want to leave?

Perfect

  • 5 of 5

To say this wonderful house is perfect would be an understatement. Great layout; very private; everything necessary for a comfortable stay provided; spotlessly clean; spectacular views of Bass Harbor and the drama of the changing tides; gorgeous gardens; and a beautiful yard with lots of birds. And, . . . Shelley the owner, was always patient and helpful, making every effort to make sure our stay was just lovely without ever intruding. All in all, my spouse and I had a wonderfully romantic and restful stay.
