Beautiful home on 14 acre ocean front property in Pretty Marsh, on the 'quiet side' of the popular Mount Desert Island, Maine. What Pretty Marsh lacks in social activity, it gains in a secluded beauty. Two houses (separated by woods) are nestled among pines and oaks, both with lovely East-looking harbor views, and access to watercraft and a stretch of rocky beach.
Pretty Marsh is only a 20 minute drive from anywhere on the island, so you get the best of both worlds – easy access to the activities in Acadia National Park, Bar Harbor and elsewhere, and the comfort of a peaceful retreat.
Close to Acadia National Park and Bar Harbor
Just minutes to hiking, water sports, scenic views and other activities in Acadia National Park. 25 minute drive to Bar Harbor, home to shops, restaurants, whale watching excursions, movies and more. Also 10- 20 minute drive to picturesque towns around the island.
Views of/access to secluded Pretty Marsh Harbo
Swim, kayak/canoe, skip rocks, pick fresh mussels -- a beautiful stretch of rocky beach on protected Pretty Marsh Harbor
A quiet retreat for everyone
Couples, groups, families -- this homey cottage has all the modern accessories within an old-fashioned setting.
The property is owned by the 7 grandchildren of Elizabeth Eliot, who was the grandaughter of Charles W. Eliot, former president of Harvard.
We typically hike and go out on the water almost every day. In bad weather, we build a fire and play board games. It is cozy and peaceful, but just short hop to great activities!
Access to a canoe, 2 kayaks and 2 rowboats for renter use.
