Vera,
Thanks so much for the use of your apartment. The 3 of us had a great time on our first trip to NYC. The apartment was just as advertised and a perfect launching point for our adventures. The information your provided in your "guide" really helped in getting us oriented and off to a fast start. Thanks again for your hospitality.

Our home away from home

This was our first family vacation to NYC. My husband and I traveled there quite a bit before we had kids so we were familiar with the city. This was the perfect spot for our family. Kitchen saved us a ton of $ on breakfast, coffee, etc. Loved having washer/dryer so I didn't have to do the laundry when I got home! Apartment kept us warm in the middle of the Polar Vortex. Highly recommend!!

It is always a crap shoot when you rent unseen but we were fortunate because this apartment was recommended by friends who had stayed there twice before. It is on the back of the building so very quiet. It is a second floor walk-up with a very secure front entrance. I know that Vera also rents a one bedroom on the same floor. If it's only the two of you go for the one bedroom as it's been updated recently. The rest of the building appeared to be rented by families - there was no noise. It has two small bedrooms, one with a double bed/dresser/closet/night table and the other with a bunk bed (double on bottom/single on top) and a dresser and closet. We moved the dresser into the closet for more room - remember this is NY. The kitchen was well equipped and there is a bar counter with stools. There is also a table with four chairs which we didn't use. The bathroom was clean and had a tub/shower. There is also a stacked washer/dryer which cuts down on the amount of clothes you have to take. There are lots of towels and sheets. The living room area had a window, so the light was good. There's a TV and wifi.
The apartment is located on a quiet, tree-lined street 1/2 block from Central Park - apparently the same street they filmed "You've Got Mail" so you get the idea of how pretty it is. It was so wonderful coming off the subway 5 minutes away onto Central Park West and then turning up 94th - so quiet after the hustle of the City. If you staying in NY for a short time then by all means stay downtown but if you're going to be there over a week find a quiet haven like this apartment. It was close to tons of great restaurants and food shops. We rarely went downtown to eat, only if we were going to a show. There is a grocery trolley in the apartment which we used for larger shops. On the corner 1/2 block away is Manni's - great for last minute pickups of food/wine/beer. We shopped mainly at Whole Foods - they have everything and we found the prices were not more than anywhere else. Vera has left take out menus and other helpful info at apartment. we got Indian twice - called and they buzzed the front door less than 25 min later. We found the neighbourhood streets safe to walk at night and the apartment is between two subway lines and two blocks from the cross Park bus. Lovely to be able to wander into Central Park only 1/2 block away. We were there for a month and were very sad to close and lock the door the last day.

FANTASTIC place to stay!!!!

I was extremely leery about booking an apartment rental in NYC because of the horror stories I read online and the scams. But after reading the reviews and talking with Vera, the owner, she put my mind at ease. Everything about this place was perfect! We stayed, four adults, very comfortably. It was very clean, safe, and comfy. Neighbors were friendly, it was quiet, and in a great neighborhood! Perfect location to Central Park and very close to subway. FYI, Building doesn't have an elevator, which was fine for us to walk the stairs, but might hinder someone else. We loved it! Will stay again!!!

Aussie Family UWS Experience

We are a family of four with kids aged 9 and 11, and we wanted to live near Central Park for a while. This apartment was great for us. The neighbourhood is lovely with lots of other families. Easy access to Central Park, subway nearby and decent shops. For those of you concerned about the parlous state of American coffee, be assured that there is a great cafe nearby ('Birch' - on Columbus Ave) which does proper espresso and lovely baked items. It was also really handy having a washer and dryer in the apartment. The best thing overall was the reliability and wonderful care taken by the owners - Joe and Vera - who were always happy to answer any questions or resolve any issue that came up. Thanks to you both.
