Northern Enlightenment is gently placed on five acres of wilderness at the Northeastern point of Pike Lake, the third clearest lake in Minnesota I’m told. Just 15 minutes from the magnificent little town of Grand Marais, you have all the comforts of home while nestled comfortably in peaceful seclusion.
This cabin, built in 2004, is full of charm and wonder. The first floor has a great bedroom with one queen size bed. On the second floor you’ll find a large bedroom with another queen size bed and a daybed that holds 2 twin mattresses, one can be pulled down onto the floor for an extra sleeping place. That bedroom also provides a quiet mediation/reading library. The front bedroom on the second floor holds a wonder for the eyes, it’s all windows and a deck that look out onto the lake. Sleeping in that queensize bed gives you the stars and moon to dream on, and a comfy chair facing the great outdoors, to lull you into a peaceful trance of relaxation.
The kitchen is large and user friendly with everything you need to cook a great meal or warm a quick bite in the microwave. the Washer and Dryer in the utility room are a must for keeping your travel bags light. The great dinning table is a perfect spot to gather for meals or playing games and watching the wonderland through the huge windows that view the lake. Two full Bathrooms, one on the first floor with a spacious shower (no tub), on the 2nd floor, a shower and separate spa-jet bathtub.
As soon as you are ready to venture out into nature, you will find a plethora of things to do and plenty of room to romp right outside the doors. One canoe and one kayak provided for your use. Year round, you can take a hike in the spring, summer or fall, or snowshoe or ski out onto the breathtaking frozen lake and feel the fresh crisp air filling you up and bringing you back to your natural joyful state of mind and body. Just two miles back down the Pike Lake Rd you will find 30K of beautifully groomed ski trails with loops to fit any skier’s energy level. Hundreds of miles of hiking and snowmobile trails near by. snow shoeing and hiking on the Superior Trail or the Cascade River Loop are back down the road you traveled to get here. And the amazing Lutsen Mountain ski area, for the downhill skiers, is just thirty minutes south on hwy 61 and offers activities and fun all year long.
Head up North and watch the sun rise and fall over this oasis of beautiful wilderness and fill your eyes with the moon and stars like you won’t see in the city. This wonderful home and cabin is waiting just for you. Beware of Beauty as the Aurora Borealis; the Northern Lights may suddenley appear.

The homeowner spent much of her childhood at her parents cabin on Pike Lake. She now lives in the Twin Cities area and comes up north to renew her serenity and peace of mind. She enjoys sharing this with others that love the outdoors and Northern Minnesota. She had this house/cabin built in 2004 and is working on a trail that follows the creek next to the house. Her lake home is available to rent year round and we feel confident that you will recieve exactly what your heart and soul long for during your stay at Northern Enlightenment. I am Cathy, Rental Manager for Northern Enlightenment, available to help you at anytime. 218-269-9048, firstname.lastname@example.org or send a message via VRBO.

Thanks again for all your help and assistance prior to the actual vacation trip - it was all done so well.
We had a lovely time at the cabin. Weather was good, next door was very nice German Catholic group, loved the kayaking on the like glass lake surface, home was clean, roomy, had everything like home, glad we did the full week, made lots of trips to surrounding areas, saw local wild life, and best of all away from all the city hassles. Thanks Again for sharing a very spiritual home away from home. Barry, Cathy, Nic, Bri, Pebbles & Roxy (the dogs loved it also). We cleaned up during the week like it was our home, all should of been in order before leaving.
We had a wonderful New Year's Eve holiday at Northern Enlightenment...thanks for sharing your beautiful home! Everyone loved the wood-burning fire place, the cozy living room space, and the beautiful views of the lake from the upstairs lake room. It was so nice to cross-country ski and snowshoe right out the front door onto the lake and warm up next to fireplace...plus the driveway made for a fantastic sledding hill! Hope to come back again, maybe the summer next time.
Thanks for an excellent holiday week at our favorite lake in Minnesota! We enjoyed sledding, skiing and walks on the lake. The house had everything we needed -- including christmas lights to decorate a tree and interior. Only suggestion would be a more specific description of beds/rooms, as even with clarification, we were still surprised! Regardless, 10 people fit comfortably on two double futons, two queen beds, and day bed (no trundle, just thin extra mattress). Grand Marais is close enough for town runs, and we were pleasantly surprised by the well-equipped kitchen. Thank you!
We had an AMAZING time. Lovely place, Loons on the lake, Coyote in the woods, a snake and millions of stars. It was the perfect place to get away from it all. We will of course be returning, hopefully several times a year. We found "our" place, to canoe, drink coffee, have a campfire, and so much more I am just too lazy to write it all down. Comfy beds, big kitchen, jacuzzi tub, what more can i say..............
What a wonderful week we had at this cabin. There were nine of us, and there was plenty of room. The upstairs bedrooms are enormous and each held families of four. The kitchen and main living area are roomy and well laid-out. The shoreline is gorgeous and we enjoyed picnicking there. We loved the kayak so much, we bought one when we returned home. The water is crystal clear and great for kids to wade in. Grand Marais is a fun town to visit.
To be honest, there were some issues with the business part of the trip. The nice lady who manages the bookings is not the owner. They have a complicated schedule of deposits and payments, and apparently two systems of tracking. To complicate matters, we changed our dates before making the final booking. Records got confused and our week was double-booked one night. They worked hard to fix the error, and all ended well for us. You should not be afraid to book this property, but extra-clear communications are crucial, especially when making changes.

During the winter/snow months, All or 4 wheel drive is best. The driveway is about half of a city block long and a steep downhill to the lake home, but there is a driveway across the road to park in and sled/carry your gear in if needed.
$500 will reserve, with payment in full due 45 days before your arrival.
Payment is usually accepted in the quoted currency (USD) unless the currency and the amount is specifically agreed in advance with the owner / advertiser.
