More than a nice property, this is a one of a kind experience that you'll always remember! Set on a hilltop in the middle of 40 acres, this house has magnificent mountain views all around. The property was a recent location of a lovely wedding and reception making beautiful use of the yard and first floor (note the 1st floor or basement is only accessible from a separate downstairs entrance). The second story is the main living area with 4 bedrooms, a full bathroom, open kitchen, dining and living room in a large great room with a stone fireplace, cathedral ceilings, a dining room table for 12, two wrought iron chandeliers and wood throughout. A complete wrap around porch provides views of the property's rolling hills and fields plus long range mountain views for sunsets that top it all! Two of the four bedrooms have French doors leading to the back screened in sun porch, a great spot for morning coffee! Scenic front yard has a tree swing. Take walks along the 1/4 mile driveway lined with apple trees and white fences, venture into the fields, or follow the low driveway past the basketball court to the pond. Enjoy a truly memorable stay at this unique mountain estate. Located just 3 miles from downtown Franklin; 2 miles from the highway, Easy access roads with gradual slopes, excellent cell phone reception, Internet & DirectTV!
The house was the recent location of a lovely wedding and reception, making beautiful use of the front yard and 1st Floor.

The estate was my parent's vacation home and we enjoyed many summers and holidays here with family and friends.
April Sgro purchased this house in 1959
My family loved Franklin and this particular piece of land. It was the perfect spot to build a dream mountain retreat. The house sits at the top of a hill in the center of the property which unfolds around it with fields, trails, a tennis court and pond.
We went to stay on this beautiful property and invited our family to join us there. The place was homey clean and inviting. We fit 7 people and a baby in the upstairs with no problem. The fireplace in the living room was perfect and we had a fire every night. We used the grill that was on the big wrap around porch. We just had a great time and we seriously loved the house and the spectacular views.
This was our first time doing a mountain family vacation and now the bar has been set very very high! We had an AMAZING time!!! The house perfectly fit our needs and some. April was n absolute dream to work with and we are already discussing our next visit. The wifi was very very slow but it's ok because it forced us to unplug with was just fine with us. We have 3 children (8,6, and 5 yrs old) and they ALL had a blast. We highly highly recommend staying here!
We just got back from staying in this lovely cabin in Franklin, and already wish we could hop back in the car and head back. This is a great, comfortable, dog-friendly house that feels like it is "away from it all," but is near enough to town to be convenient and easily-accessible. The huge wrap-around porch provides some gorgeous views and sunrises/sunsets. We and our two pups really enjoyed ourselves, and I know we'll be back. Thanks for everything!
Where do I start with this place? Amazing, for starters. This property offered the most spectacular views of Franklin we have ever experienced. It was super close to town and not a crazy drive up a mountain. The property offered nice open fields for children to play as well as a homemade (but sturdy) swing located next to the house. The upper porch was where the views were but the lower porch was wonderful to sit especially when you have a campfire in the ring at night. There were adequate sleeping arrangements in the rooms upstairs and the beds were comfortable. One bathroom on the main area but also a full bath downstairs too. Kitchen was decent, counter space was limited and food storage space was also limited. The managers had the house stocked with paper goods, trash bags and soap (both hand and dish) which we appreciated. Great wood burning fireplace in the living area. There are t.v.s but we never turned them on. We enjoyed our stay on this beautiful property.
There were 7 females celebrating a birthday and this property was wonderful! We spent a lot of time simply enjoying the beautiful view from the huge wrap around deck! Everyday we spent time hiking through the woods on the property and loving the woods! The house was fully stocked with everything we could have possibly needed and the house was very clean and well maintained. Sharing one bathroom with 7 women could have been challenging but it actually wasn't. Although there was a 2nd bathroom downstairs we didn't venture down there much except to play table tennis a couple of times. The only reason I am rating the property a 4 instead of a 5 is that the description stated there were 6 twin beds and 1 queen so our expectation was that everyone would have their own bed. There were actually 2 Q beds and 4 twin beds which really wasn't a problem except that someone had to share a bed. We would definitely stay at this property again and recommend it to others!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We had a terrific long weekend over Easter at this Franklin home. I picked it because it 1) was pet friendly 2)the views from the cabin 3) closeness to day hiking on the AT. We had a great time! The first couple of nights we were joined by couple that are our friends, the last two nights my adult son and two of his college friends joined us. We had plenty of room to not get in each others' way. The one upstairs bathroom did not cause a problem.
We were minutes from Franklin and within thirty minutes of the day hike trail heads we used. All in all a great location. I enjoyed having the pastures and acreage. I was able to let my senior dogs have a little freedom from time to time. We were not isolated, the owner lives on the same property and there is another home (that you could not even see) so I would not have even minded if I were alone.
We really did not use the downstairs while we were there. It was cold while we were there and very cold down there, and it made no sense for us to turn on the wall space heaters for the little time we might have wanted to be down there. Interesting set up with the two stories.
I would certainly stay there again and recommend it to friends and strangers alike. Comfortable and homey, everything we needed. Great deal for the price! My reason for rating it a 4 not a 5 (give me a 4.5) is that it does not have some of the things a newer home may have. We were PERFECTLY SATISFIED! I was willing to trade a hot tub for a rocker on that porch with that fabulous view!!! Luxury no, great --yes!
