If you're looking for a getaway that offers peace and solitude, in stylish and tasteful accommodations, then check our calendar for availability and make your reservation today! This lovely cottage has been updated and beautifully decorated in a fine southern coastal flair. It is surrounded by live oaks draped with Spanish moss, and is central to all of Seabrook Island's charms. Come, relax, and enjoy Seabrook's uncrowded beaches; take a morning stroll on the nature trail; kayak on the many creeks and waterways; or bike on the quiet streets of the island. Seabrook is a lovely place to honeymoon or to reconnect with your loved ones and build memories to last a lifetime.

Enjoy your morning coffee and breakfast, or have wine and an intimate conversation while seated inside the rear screened-in porch that features plenty of privacy. You can use the front porch for sitting in the sun, reading a book, or just to watch the deer as they wander by in the evenings. Inside the front door is the comfortable heart of the cottage, a spacious combined living room/dining room area with fireplace, HDTV with DVD, and plenty of seating. The master bedroom is bright and cheerful and has its own private bath. It features a queen bed with a Thermarest mattress, down pillowtop, and deluxe linens that will spoil you in comfort. A flat screen HDTV in the corner will provide the morning news while you enjoy that first cup of coffee. The second bedroom offers a full size bed with a down pillowtop and deluxe linens as well. If you enjoy a good read, the second bedroom has a well stocked bookcase with an excellent selection of books appropriate for taking to the beach or porch. Upstairs you will find the sleeping loft with its own sitting area. It is decorated with colorfully painted fish and sea life and is furnished with twin beds, a desk and chair, a rocker, and a love seat that folds out as another twin sized bed. The loft can accommodate anyone but it is the perfect place for children to sleep, play and have fun while mom and dad relax downstairs. The galley kitchen is very functional and well equipped. You will also appreciate having a washer and dryer for those occasions when the laundry needs cleaning.

If you wish, take advantage of the fabulous new community Lake House facility with its well-equipped fitness center, heated indoor pool, large outdoor pool, basketball court, playground, and many varied exercise classes. Or, explore old historic Charleston and discover the many fine restaurants, historic homes, old slave market, and art galleries. Guided horse and carriage tours of the battery and surrounding areas are also available and highly recommended. You will also want to visit the Ashley River Plantations at Drayton Hall, Magnolia House, and Middleton Place.

Freshfields Village is located just outside the Seabrook Island gate and has many excellent shops, fine restaurants, a wonderful grocery with a large impressive wine selection, and a sports store where you can purchase everything you need for the beach. Don't miss Friday evening at Freshfields! Picnic on the lawn with a glass of wine and listen to a live band while the kids run, dance and play. Or take the kids to watch an outdoor movie on the lawn on Wednesday night.

Our cottage is meticulously maintained and frequently updated to maintain a fresh and stylish decor. The artwork, furnishings, and room colors have been carefully selected to reflect a sense of casual Low Country beach luxury. You'll find ceiling fans and ample lighting through-out. Underneath the cottage there is an enclosed utility shower that's perfect for rinsing off the beach sand before trekking upstairs. There's also plenty of room to stow away your gear--beach chairs, bikes, and fishing/crabbing equipment--or for children to play. And, covered parking for two cars is provided. Our cottage offers wireless high speed internet, satellite TV, local telephone service, and a gas grill. With the exception of beach towels, all linens are provided, and end-of-stay cleaning for 7 nights or more is included at no additional cost. Sorry but pets and smoking are not allowed.

About The Owner

My wife and I are Southern to the core. We grew up taking annual summer vacations to the beaches of South Carolina with our parents and crowds of family. The Charleston area is especially significant to us because we both attended college here. We fell in love with the charm and grace of old historic Charleston and spent many hours wandering the alleys and streets, enjoying the night life, and admiring the architecture. After graduation we left Charleston, and South Carolina, joined the Air Force and moved all around the world. Many years later, we were able the return and purchase our refuge at Seabrook.

Why The Owner chose Seabrook Island

Our cottage was originally purchased in order to have a place near our kids and grand kids. This is our second home and we really enjoy our time here. Seabrook is a private gated island community. Every effort has been taken to preserve the natural beauty of this low country paradise. We enjoy the centuries old live oaks, the vast salt marsh vistas, and the pristine beaches. Deer, raccoons, foxes, and bobcats are sighted daily here. We finally decided to list our cottage as a part time rental unit so others can share this unique experience.

What makes this cottage unique

Seabrook is a wonderful escape. We enjoy the quiet solitude and casual life of the island. Our cottage is a great place to relax after spending time at the beach or visiting the historical sights nearby. Spring is our favorite time of year and we annually stay a week or so in March in order to visit the gardens at Magnolia and Middleton Place plantations. This is also the time of year that many of the homes and gardens in the "South of Broad" district are open to the public. It is surprising what you'll find while wandering the small side streets between East Bay, Meeting, and King streets. We love the secret gardens and unique architecture of the downtown area. We do self paced walking tours with guides that can be purchased from the Borders bookstore on Meeting St. It is a great way to get to know the history of Charleston. Just find a place to park your car and you can explore for hours. At the end of the day, we eat dinner at one of the many delightful restaurants near the old market..."Jestine's", on Meeting Street is one of our favorites but we also enjoy "High Cotton", "Magnolia's", and "Slightly North of Broad" (SNOB) all are on East Bay Street and feature exceptional Southern cuisine. If we wish to escape the downtown crowd, we head back toward the cottage and stop for dinner at the "Mustard Seed" or "Boulevard Diner", both on Maybank Hwy on James Island. On John's Island, the "Fat Hen" also has excellent food.

Fantastic Rental!!

We had sooo much fun staying in this cottage on Seabrook Island the week of the PGA Championship!! The location was fantastic and when we were not at the tournament, we were feeding carrots to the horses at the equestrian center, saw one of 4 albino white tailed deer, saw sea turtles hatch, went crabbing, watched the dolphins strand feed, went on bike rides, and played at the pool. Three generations of our family stayed in the beautiful cottage and it had everything that you could need for a week at the beach. We are already looking forward to our next trip!!
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Girls Getaway, Sightseeing, Families with Teenagers, Families with Young Children, Romantic Getaway
