White Farms Northern Getaway is part of a family farm. The country setting allows panoramic views of age old maple trees, hills, sunsets, the moon and stars. You may see and hear cattle in the pasture or near the big red barn. This spacious home was recently restored to its present beauty. Great care was taken to preserve the 100 year old pine floors and the aged spindle stairwell. The bedrooms are bright and cheery with double beds in three upstairs bedrooms and a queen size bed in the downstairs master bedroom. There are 2 full baths, 1 half bath, large living/family room, separate dining room, fully equipped kitchen and oh yes - 'the Kid's Cove' under the stairway for the little ones to discover and play. Both porches are enclosed. Available year round, our 'getaway' is a perfect setting for family vacations, reunions, retreats, hunters, fishermen, golfers, snowmobilers, skiers, or color tours. Enjoy the comforts of modern living where we blend the past with the present.

We were able to enjoy this lovely home and beautiful country setting while the fall colors were in full bloom! We took walks and hikes every day with our 2 beagles throughout the trails and beautiful land attached and surrounding this property. Our host Phillip was great and provided a lot of additional information prior to and after our arrival. The home is great with lots of room and and really has everything you will need. Even laundry detergent (and dishwasher detergent) was available for us to use. Often we used the outdoor grill to enjoy our evening meals and also enjoyed fires in the firepit outside the back of house. When we wanted to go into TC it is close enough to easily do so. We had a great time and hope to return - many thanks for opening your home to us!
We enjoyed a long weekend at this charming farmhouse, and honestly it was the best place we could have chosen to stay. A quiet, rural setting - surrounding the house were fields, wildlife and not much else - but only a short drive to Traverse City and Lake Michigan. Our host was very welcoming, making sure we had everything we needed, and the house was well-stocked and clearly loved.
All in all, we couldn't have asked for a more perfect late-summer getaway. We will definitely be back.
We were in the area for a family reunion and the house was very close to where all of our festivities took place. The location was perfect - we golfed, rode horses, and visited traverse city and sleeping bear dunes. We were only there for 4 nights, and I wish we could have stayed longer. The house has such character, was very clean, and had absolutely everything you could need - tissues, soap, spices, etc. Philip was wonderful to deal with, and was very accommodating. Look forward to returning in the near future!
Wonderful property, wonderful home, wonderful host! What a perfect place to leave behind the stresses of work and traffic. I rented White Farm for a week and had family and friends coming and going the entire time. Some of us slept in the comfortable bedrooms (furnished, by the way, with everything you could want, so don't bother bringing extra towels or pillows), some pitched tents in the spacious back yard and some even slept on an air mattress on the front porch _ a real treat as the nights were cool. The first-floor bedroom has an attached bathroom with step-in shower and grip bars _ perfect for my mom, who has Parkinson's.
We went horseback riding at the stable a couple hundred yards down the road, rode bicycles (Phil, the host, anticipated our big crowd and supplied six, including some for kids without our even asking), walked through the fields and woods, had campfires, listened to the coyotes howl, watched the bats fly around and played euchre at the picnic table. We ate dinner outside under the beautiful maple trees every night _ again, Phil supplied extra fold-out tables and plenty of chairs _ and had plenty of room to spread out.
The kids and dogs literally had the run of the place and enjoyed every minute. It's close enough to Traverse City (which I'd avoid if you really want to get away from traffic) if you need something from a big town, and to Sleeping Bear Dunes and lovely little Lake Ann, where we rented a fishing boat for a day. We alternated ice cream runs between Lake Ann, Cedar and Empire.
The best thing, though, was the farm -- totally quiet, on a safe, low-traffic road and a perfect setting to see spectacular sunrises and sunsets. If you think the coyotes at night are cool, wait till you hear the sandhill cranes in the morning when they start rooting around in the fields.
Phil could not have been nicer and more accommodating. I am already checking my calendar to see when I can go back.
If you like spacious old farmhouses with front and back porches, that have a history and are loaded with charm, then this is the getaway for you. I had family and friends coming and going all week and there was plenty of room for everyone. One couple brought their travel trailer and there was no problem parking it. The farm is located in a beautiful rural setting but close to all the things you might want to do or see in the Traverse City/Lake Ann area. There is horseback riding, golfing, fishing, swimming, jet-skiing, walking, biking, shopping, eating out--all close by. We saw horses, cows, deer, buffalo (bison?), and yaks. We visited Sleeping Bear Dunes, Pierce Stocking Scenic Drive which overlooks Lake Michigan, Frankfort, Empire, Interlochen, Grawn, Buckley and Traverse City. We enjoyed food from the Stone Oven--including fish and
pizza--in Lake Ann, went to the famous beef restaurant, Boone's; and you must go to Moomer's for ice cream.
The farmhouse is very clean, comfy, and fully outfitted with everything one could possibly need or want. Just bring your clothing and groceries. If you miss television, there is cable; need the internet? It's there. Even had great cell phone reception. Have laundry? Washer and dryer ready to use. Cook outside? Both charcoal and gas grills. The owners, Jean and Phillip, are friendly, accomodating, wonderful people--invite them to your bonfire in the fire pit. We had two dogs visiting and they had a great time too. One day I baked cookies--just like home. I've recommended the farmhouse to friends and my family is already planning to return next summer. Can't say enough about the comfort, hospitality, the whole package. Oh, and you'll love the sunsets!
There is not one bad word to say about this place! We were only able to stay for 2 nights but I wish it was much longer! You literally do not need to bring ANYTHING except your clothes and food, they have thought of everything else you could need and have it available for you.
The house is very clean, charming and spacious. It is so convenient to both the Sleeping Bear Dunes and Traverse City. But you should also allow your self time to just spend at the house and gorgeous property it is on. Phillip was the nicest man to deal with. We will absolutely be back!
