This Patio Suite is a self-contained, first class, furnished, rental accommodation. The 600 sq. ft., one bedroom, one bathroom, ground level suite is located in scenic Sidney by the Sea, close to all amenities and a short drive to Butchart Gardens and Victoria, British Columbia, Canada.

Very easy access from Victoria International Airport, BC Tsawwassen/Swartz Bay Ferry, Washington State /Anacortes Ferry. 20 minute drive from Victoria (Black Ball Ferry from Port Angeles, US).

The suite is fresh, bright, comfortable and professionally decorated. The deluxe king canopy bed will ensure a relaxing sleep and you'll wake refreshed with a picture window view to your private garden oasis. The entire unit has ceramic tile with underfloor radiant heating. Warm in the winter, cool in the summer.

Get your own groceries and cook in your full kitchen facilities (includes espresso machine, fridge, stove, oven, microwave, dishwasher, small appliances, enough dishes for you and guests).

Or to heck with cooking and decide to treat yourself by walking to one of the many fabulous restaurants.

The living area is so very comfy for kicking back. Cherish some alone time reading on the chaise lounge, snuggle with your sweetie on the huge sectional or enjoy your favourite media in the entertainment system (Cable TV, DVD, AM/FM, CD, I Pod Dock, and library of CD's, DVD's, books and games).

Patio doors open from the living room to the private, professionally landscaped, well maintained backyard with a lovely unistone patio, year round greenery, barbecue, cushioned patio furniture, shade umbrella. Hi! We're Susan & Don Wakal,

We own the Patio Suite. Our other business, Picture Panache Framing, occupies the small commercial cottage to the front of the same property. When first setting up the framing studio we chose to live in the Patio Suite ourselves for a year. In many ways we found it just the right size. Everything in it's place means so little cleaning. That leaves more time for exploring Sidney's many used bookstores, galleries, unique boutiques, walking the beach, eating out in great restaurants and just enjoying all that Sidney has to offer. In this photo we've taken our lawn chairs down to the waterfront park to enjoy the view, meet friendly people and listen to music which plays at the Bandstand each Sunday afternoon in the summer. Isn't life great?

Why Susan Wakal chose Sidney

We relocated from Edmonton to Vancouver Island in February of 2005. All of our friends said we were going to hate it here. It was going to be rainy and overcast and we'd be depressed. Well, NOT! So climate is the first reason to love this location. Lush, green and moist even in the winter, your skin feels better, your hair feels better, you feel better. Then come summer you'll be almost intoxicated by the fragrance, colour and glorious sun. It just doesn't get any better than this. Our first year here we lost count after 55 people came to visit. Needless to say, not everyone is free to move here, but everyone deserves a little island time. We hope this vacation rental suite will allow you to treat YOURSELF to some Island time.

Now why Sidney specifically? You know this is really just the nicest town. It is so friendly and the main street, Beacon Ave. is packed so full of unique shops that even for those of us who live here feel like every day is a holiday. Did you know that in our Star Cinema movie theater a real live person comes down the aisle to announce the coming movies. It's the little things like this that are small, seaside town, fun! Then of course there are the beaches. Nothing soothes the soul like the sound of waves. While here you could walk a different one each day of your stay! Need more reasons yet ... well people come from all over the world to see the Butchart Gardens, Victoria Inner Harbour, Shaw Ocean Discovery Centre.

We love to play host and unlock all the insider secrets Sidney has to share. Please come and experience it yourself. You may never leave! That's happened before! In which case, we're also happy to introduce you to all of the people you'll need to meet, in order to get yourself moved here permanently!

The Patio Suite

My husband and I spent three months in the patio suite this past winter and enjoyed it very much. It was nice to be so close to the shopping area and also the good restaurants. My sister in law visited from Scotland and she thought the apartment was lovely..Being able to take the ferry to one of the islands and the bus to Victoria was very convenient . We would have no hesitation going back there again especially to escape the winter in Ottawa.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Tourists without a Car
Owner's Response: Most of our guests do either drive or fly and rent a vehicle, in which case we do offer 'off street parking'. But, for those who decide to 'go green' without a vehicle, the suite is within a short walk of just about anything you could need ... groceries, beverages, pharmacy, banks, medical attention, restaurants, shops, attractions, lovely seaside walks. And as you mention busing also available. Glad this worked out so well for you this winter & that you were even able to reconnect with relatives from afar. When we are in town, we are happy to do airport pick-ups and drop-offs. If we happen to be out of town, it's just a short cab trip.

Patio Suite

Thank you Susan and Don- we had a wonderful two weeks at the Patio Suite. The location is perfect. Within walking distance of the town centre, the Anacortes ferry, the seafront and minutes away from the airport and BC Ferry terminals. We took public transit from Sidney downtown to Victoria downtown. No parking hassles and bus stops in walking distance of the waterfront.

The patio suite is just as described - perfect! We are looking forward to returning.

We had a very rewarding stay at your Patio Suite. It was perfect. Both kids did manage to separately come over for 2 nights each. They shared our enthusiasm for Sidney and it helped to confirm that we do want to relocate.
The location is perfect for exploring the area and quiet as well. Susan was a great host!

We found the listing description and pictures to perfectly represent the appearance and the amenities of the apartment. It was beautifully decorated, perfectly clean and well-maintained, and altogether satisfactory. We especially loved the wonderful bed, the charming garden, and the espresso machine. Susan and Don were most helpful in giving us directions and recommending restaurants, and we would certainly recommend the apartment to friends. We had a perfect stay!

Wonderful Place for Vacationing!

We loved this suite! It was beautifully decorated with both antiques and contemporary funishings, and painted a lovely, soothing light green. No amenities were spared, from luxurious linens to a fully automatic expresso maker. And the patio and garden were just as nice. We would never stay anywhere else on Vancouver Island.
Recommended for:  Age 55+, Adventure Seekers, Sightseeing, Romantic Getaway
Owner's Response: Glad to hear you appreciated the amenities. Our plan was for the suite to be every bit as stylish as the highest end hotels, but a bit more unique and personal. Therefore original art, a few surprises, and everything we'd want ourselves in a wonderful getaway accommodation.

I think you planned to return in October. Don't panic when you see our calendar is fully booked. Call to inquire about our other properties. For repeat clients we'll always make every effort to accommodate. You may get a free upgrade:)!
