Our Neighborhood: In addition to the greenery, the Luxembourg Gardens features fabulous fountains, shady sitting areas, walking and running paths, tennis courts, and Paris? most celebrated children?s playground. Soaring into the Paris skyline just a few steps in the opposite direction is the Pantheon with its majestic dome, a monument to the great men and women of France. Just beyond the Pantheon begins the famous rue Mouffetard market with its slanting, medieval streets and seemingly endless line of stalls and shops selling every kind of French food and produce. A few minutes walk in another direction takes you through the heart of the Saint Germain district to the Seine, from whose banks one can gaze upon Notre Dame, or stroll across Pont Neuf to visit the Louvre. Yet another path takes you to the Marais district (less than 15-minutes walk), offering some of the City?s most interesting architecture as well as still another world of wonderful shopping, eating, and nightlife.
Transit: When going further afield there are numerous subway stations nearby. The closest of these, adjacent to the Gardens, is Luxembourg station, which provides rapid service to both Charles De Gaulle and Orly airports without changing trains.
Fractional Ownership: Residence Jardin Luxembourg is a fractional apartment, owned in 13 equal shares by owners who are each assigned 4 weeks per year of use. These shares are relatively inexpensive, and annual dues (including all expenses and a substantial repair/replacement reserve) are far less than the cost of renting. Better still, owners share in the appreciation of an incredible apartment in one of the great cities of the world. The apartment and the fractional owners association are professionally managed so the owners need to do nothing except enjoy their visits. If you are interested in fractional ownership of this apartment, please contact us. Or, better still, rent the apartment for your next visit to see how wonderful it is, and we will apply your rent, and your airfare, toward the purchase price of a fractional share.
My husband and I loved the apartment and the neighborhood. The lengthy VRBO description of this apartment gives an accurate picture of the apartment and the neighborhood. In addition you’ll find a detailed handbook offering names of local markets, boulangerie, meat markets, restaurants etc and as well as information on metro stops, taxi stands, and how-to use the appliances. The i-Pad set-up with keyboard and printer was much appreciated and helped us navigate where and when we wanted go.
Lorinda helped us get settled and offered some great suggestions and advice. We took advantage of the local markets and the modern, well-equipped kitchen to prepare several meals. The living area with a little gas fireplace and the bedroom were spacious and very comfortable. The large, warmed towels and deep bathtub were great in the morning or after a long day visiting the city.
Close to the apartment we enjoyed Le Cosi an authentic Corsican restaurant, the Irish pub Wide Open Spaces, and the small family restaurant Bistro du Périgord with specialties from Southwestern France.
Don’t miss the Musee du Luxembourg! This small museum does a great job of organizing exhibits that appeal to all audiences. You can book your ticket online and be sure to get the audioguide.
I looked at a lot of rental properties before lucking upon this magnificent gem. I knew it was the one we wanted from the moment I saw it! This place stood out as being special. Making arrangements over internet and phone with Astrid was easy and she was there on our arrival to welcome us and explain the lay of the land. Simply beautiful, comfortable, spacious, and well-outfitted, we were delighted to make this our home for our 8 day visit in the Fall of 2012. From here, we could easily explore all of Paris, by foot, boat, bus or Metro. At the end of each marvelous, full day, we were delighted to return to Rue Kujas. The kitchen table afforded plenty of room to spread out our maps and guide books for planning each day. (By the way, we left those guide books to add to the library for reference.) The well appointed kitchen contained all we could want, though we opted to go out for most meals because we were in PARIS after all! Endless restaurant options were within walking distance. The bathroom was clean and lovely -- nice to have a bath tub in addition to shower. Heated towel rack for warming towels and drying hand wash quickly. Cozy, quiet bedroom with plenty of room to unpack. We appreciated the overseas phone line so we could call home to Seattle a few times. When we return to Paris, which we sure hope to, we will definately try to stay here again. 'Can't imagine anything better! Merci beaucoup!!
What a charming apartment that actually lived up to the pictures posted on the web. It had all of the necessities including washer and dryer and a hair dryer. It was very roomy compared to some we had seen. It was so convenient to everything--walking distance to the Louvre, Notre Dame, St. Sulpice and other sights. Plus there were a metro station and an RER station nearby. Astrid was so welcoming and graciously explained everything in the apartment and how to make it all work. Two added bonuses we enjoyed were the computer with Internet access and a telephone with free long distance. Both came in very handy. Definitely a place we would come back to.
My wife and I stayed in this lovely, well located apartment for 12 nights during our recent visit to Paris. The apartment is exactly as described and the next time we are in this beautiful city we will definitely be staying here again. The property is immaculately clean and has all the creature comforts that we needed and more to make our stay very comfortable. The location is excellent, walking distance to the Pantheon, Notre Dame, Rue Mouffetard and many other great must see sights, restaurants, shops, parks and gardens. Thank you Astrid for making our stay so memorable, we will certainly be recommending the apartment to our friends and family.
This apartment is a gem! My husband and I stayed 6 nights and could not have been happier. From the warm friendly welcome by Astrid, who explained everything we needed to know about the finer workings of the apartment, to the excellent location within walking distace to everything including metro. A quiet, comfortable bedroom and excellent facilities made our second stay in Paris so much more enjoyable than hotel accommodation. Being our very first experience of obtaining accommodation via VRBO (on a friend's recommendation), we were a little unsure at first. But the photos and description matched our expectations and the service exceeded them. This experience ensures we will use VRBO again and again. We only hope this apartment is available next time we visit Paris!! (perhaps then we shouldn't recommend it to friends.....but no, you just want to tell people of such a lovely place!)
For a great dinner, we definitely recommend "Le Cosi" restaurant which is just around the corner - excellent food.
We wish everyone who is lucky enough to secure accommodation at this apartment, a wonderful visit to Paris.
It took watching the end of the Tour de France on TV this morning to remind me that I had yet to submit our review for this fabulous apartment in Paris. In late Jan. 2011, my husband, 24 yr. old daughter and I visited our younger daughter while she was studying in Paris. We had a wonderful 5 days in Paris and this fabulous apartment contributed greatly to our enjoyable stay. The apartment is immaculate and tastefully furnished with high quality furniture and appliances. The location is extremely convenient allowing us to walk to many of our destinations and is convenient to public transportation. We learned quickly that after a long day of sightseeing, rather than going out to dinner, we shopped the local cheese, wine shops and bakeries, and came back to the apartment to enjoy a light dinner in front of the gas fireplace. The beds are very comfortable, including the pull out couch that both daughters shared on several nights. The apartment manager, Astrid, was extremely professional, accommodating and a pleasure to deal with. I highly recommend this apartment. When we return to Paris we will definitely stay here again.
