For starters, the condo is on the 3rd floor and you are able to park outside of your front door and walk right into your room. The complex has two covered levels of parking with the parking deck extending to the 3rd floor. You are able to enjoy the beach and feel like you are 'right there'. The placement of the condo allows you either to be seated overlooking the pools to keep an eye on the children or grandchildren at the pool or to be nearer the middle where you have total peace to hear the waves crash on the beach. The elevators and stairs are both located nearby for when you want to venture downstairs. Since you are the 3rd floor there is no long wait as is with higher floors in the building. Also, this unit is a true 3 bedroom and three bath- please keep this in mind since it does have the capability for a larger amount of guests since our bedrooms here are full size.
Our other units are also on VRBO, one being a 2 bedroom with bunkroom/2 bath (unit 314) just a few doors away. Our other condo is a 3 bedroom/3 bath ( all king beds!) at the San Carlos complex just a 1/10 mile a away and is a 4th floor gulf front unit. . Both of the complexes are the newest to the Gulf Shores area have the best amenities on the beach.
It is a west corner unit with a 85 foot long wrap around balcony with three accesses. One from the master bedroom, one from the guest bedroom and one from the living room. The balcony has seating for six with an additional 4 chairs in the balcony storage box. The living room and kitchen is literally a break-taking view of the beach with the floor to ceiling windows! The entire condo has been tastefully and comfortably decorated. New tile has just been installed throughout and the bedrooms have new carpeting. All of the beds have pillow top mattresses, including an add-on for the sectional sleeper sofa and two twin size air mattresses for added use. The gulf-facing master bedroom has a king size bed, the gulf-facing guest room has a queen size bed and the 3rd bedroom has a full over full bunk bed ( suitable up to 300 lbs. on top bunk). The bedrooms have drapes with blackout lining as does the living room. Each bedroom has their own private bathroom with separate room for shower and commode. The commodes are handicap height and the master bathroom commode has a handicap bar. The water heater for the condo is 80 gallons so everyone can enjoy a hot shower with no worries ! Since this unit can comfortably sleep 10 or more, we felt it was best to install a larger heater for everyone's' comfort.
The dining area seats six and there are an additional 4 seats at the counter. The kitchen is very well equipped for all of your cooking needs. All major appliances are in place and counter appliances including a heavy duty blender, coffee maker, can opener, toaster and crock-pot. The laundry room is large and well equipped with a iron, ironing board and drying rack for wet bathing suits. All linens are provided with the exception of beach towels.
The living room has a large wall mounted HD/LCD TV with DVD and VCR player. Each of the bedrooms also have their own TV with built in DVD player too. The TV's have a good variety of cable channels and we also have a small video library there in the condo.
When it comes to amenities- The Lighthouse has it all! There are three pools total- one being an indoor heated pool. The two outdoor pools are very large and one is a zero entry with water spouts which is just perfect for small children. There are two huge hot tubs that could each easily seat 16 people. The fitness center has numerous machines and is always in demand. It has a beach view and televisions too. The sauna is just right around the corner from the fitness center.
The Lighthouse itself is less than 1/2 mile down from the intersection of East Beach Blvd. and the Gulf Shores Parkway (Hwy. 59). It is right in the heart of Gulf Shores and is literally 5-15 minutes from everything you will want to see and do while you are on vacation on 'Pleasure Island' - the name of the two cities Gulf Shores and Orange Beach.
The 'Sea and Suds', Hangout, Waffle House, Best Western Pancake House and Hooters are all within a comfortable walk. There is a Wal-Mart, two chain groceries, two major drug stores, multiple 'beach' retailers and nearly two dozen more restaurants within a 5 minute drive. The Tanger Mall is less than 15 minutes away and most amusements parks and the 'Little Zoo that Could' all also under this time limit. The Gulf State Park ( with a public access golf course) is 5 minutes from your condo and there are around 15 courses in the Gulf Shores/Orange Beach/Foley area. There is so much more to see and do than the beach: Head to Ft. Morgan to see the historic army post and museum or towards Pensacola to watch the world famous Blue Angels team conduct practice flights and then stop at the Naval Aviation Museum. Another favorite is near Mobile at the U.S.S. Alabama where you can tour the battleship, submarine and tour their flight museum. There is also live greyhound racing in both Pensacola and Mobile but please be sure to check minimum age limits and race times. Wind Creek Casino is only about 1 1/2 hours away north on I-65 . Another place to check out is 'The Wharf' in Orange Beach - they have great shopping, a movie theatre and a 10,000 seat amphitheatre that hosts major recording stars. There are jet ski rentals, parasailing, diving trips and kiteboarding all offered close by.
It is so easy to forget about the rest of the world while you are here, from peaceful early morning walks on the beach, soaking up the rays in the sand or unwinding from the days' adventures on your balcony.

The Lighthouse is one of the most preferred spots in Gulf Shores to stay. It has everything you want and need here ! Our condo is on the 3rd floor so it has the added bonus of front door parking. The oversized wrap around 85 foot long balcony makes it unique as does the two gulf front bedrooms.
What makes this condo unique
Our balcony is very spacious and overlooks the beautiful Gulf of Mexico. It can be viewed from nearly half of the entire condo. For privacy and comfort, we have room darkening drapes in the rooms. The master bathroom is very spacious and private with its' own jacuzzi tub. Each room also has a television with dvd player.
