River’s Edge is the latest addition to BRVC’s own inventory. It enjoys an absolutely idyllic setting; 135ft of river frontage on the rippling Watauga River; a spectacular view to the South that has cow pastures (with cows!) and a dramatic mountain backdrop; to the North the river continues on its slow and lazy route paralleling the state-maintained gravel road on through active old farms and historical buildings. There’s even an abandoned old mill and waterfall just ¾ mile away! A perfect spot to take a peaceful morning walk/jog/bike.

River’s Edge boasts 1.5 acres of flat and lush lawn so children can play to their hearts’ content, even play volley ball or horse shoes, while you can either try your hand at fly-fishing or just laze away the afternoon in our hammock set right by the, err…river’s edge! At night a cozy fire-pit with surrounding rustic chairs gives you a perfect end to a day in the mountains.

Inside, River’s Edge has two good sized bedrooms, one with a bathroom en-suite and also provides for two more with a sleeper-sofa. The kitchen is well stocked and features a breakfast bar with two high stools. There is an attractive rustic dining-table and chairs and in the living room area, a very comfortable ambiance is helped by the wood floors, tongue and& groove cathedral ceiling, a gas fireplace and attractive ‘mountainy’ furniture. With two skylights and windows on all three sides, it feels wonderfully light and cheerful - a great place to relax. Our back deck commands a view of the river and surroundings, with outside dining furniture, easy chairs and features a gigantic hot-tub. ‘Below decks’ there is an ample fenced in dog lot + and in the breezeway beneath the home, a ping-pong table for eve more fun.

River’s Edge is only about three miles from the Mast General Store in historic Valle Crucis, in the Northwestern section of Watauga County and is only about thirty minutes drive from one of the area’s best kept secrets – the spectacularly beautiful Watauga Lake, just over the nearby Tennessee state line. Downtown Boone is within fifteen minutes, as is Banner Elk - accessible via a scenic short cut just down the road.

Rent a couple of very affordable bikes for your stay (we will deliver them to the cabin for your stay) or let our Guest Services arrange for your private fly fishing lesson right there in your back yard!

We think this one is a big winner!

River’s Edge has convenient paved access for all but the last .6 miles.

For larger groups, consider renting this cabin with Riverview, right next door, or nearby Deer Run Estate within walking distance.

Depending on the home, 4WD, chains or sometimes both may be required when visiting the mountains in winter. Access to this home may not be suitable for vehicles with rear wheel drive, limited ground clearance, or motorcycles even during summer months. We are happy to help you find the home with the access you are most comfortable with, any time of year!

Guestbook comments from the manager

We came to spend quality time with our sister from Brooklyn. We got 3-4” of snow two nights before we left. Thanks! We hiked Linville Falls, Laurel Creek Falls, and the beautiful Hebron Falls off the Blue Ridge Parkway as well as the carriage trails at Moses Cone Manor. We also visited Grandfather Mtn and the original Mast Store in Valle Crucis. We enjoyed the hot tub and indoor fireplace. We loved the Mast General Store and it was the only shopping we did. We came to hike and enjoy each others company. We cooked breakfast everyday and packed pb and j sandwiches and trail mix for lunch and we were back in the evenings to cook dinner and enjoy the fireplace and hot tub. We really enjoyed our time at the cabin. The view was amazing. It was perfect- just the right place were were looking for.

30th anniversary stay

  • 5 of 5

My husband I recently stayed at this wonderful cabin. Two of our friends came with us to celebrate our 30th anniversary. The home had everything we needed. The kitchen was well-equiped for cooking our evening meals and breakfast. The view from the house and the deck was so much more than we expected. We were all able to relax on this vacation. The fireplace was always in use! And so was the hot tub,. It was great. We even got to sit in it and watch the meteor shower.

On our last day we were able to ski for the morning too. But I think the best part of our vacation was just hanging out and relaxing at the cabin..

Our family had a great time at Farallon. The cabin was beautifully decorated, clean and very comfortable. We especially enjoyed the view from the hot tub, it was magical on a clear evening. Our 2 boys loved the fire pit and the hot tub but especially enjoyed the boulders around the yard... they spent a lot of time climbing! Oh, I can't forget the beds...so comfortable...just like home! Getting our F250 around the sharp turn in the driveway was interesting but I actually think my husband enjoyed the challenge. Thank you for a peaceful, secluded and relaxing stay in the mountains!!

We had a great time. It snowed two inches the night before and it made for a beautiful scene. We had two adults and three teenagers and everyone had a great time. The view from the deck is just what you would hope for. Cannot wait to go again.
