Enjoy the ultimate Jackson Hole vacation in this stunning custom-built log estate. Situated 1,500 feet above the valley floor and nestled into a thick old pine forest, The Lupine Lodge is one of the classic log homes of Jackson Hole. Built by a renowned craftsman and woodworker in the late 1970's, the main home has just gone through a top to bottom renovation and refurnishing.
The Lupine Lodge includes the main lodge with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths and 5 acres of beautifully maintained gardens and lawns. Enjoy the hiking trail down to look out point or continue on down to the creek below the house. Relax in the hot tub after a day of skiing. Light a fire in the hearth style fireplace. All in all, Lupine Lodge is your opportunity to enjoy Jackson Hole in all its glory in the lap of luxury.
We spent a week in this home and had a great time! Wilson is about 15 – 20 minutes from Jackson, and it was wonderful to get out of the hustle and bustle of town. The house itself is lovely and I want to touch on the best parts first.
The deck is AMAZING. Comfortable furniture, beautiful scenery, and all the wildlife you could want. From our deck we saw moose, deer, coyote, wolves, osprey, eagles, and hawks. The hot tub is nice and big, and the lounge furniture outside is awesome. The picnic table is old, and leaves a bit to be desired, but the scenic setting makes up for that.
The indoor heated pool is a great addition to the house, and kept all of us entertained. It’s a a small pool, but definitely big enough for the kids to have some fun. The master bathroom is beautiful, with heated floors, and a wonderful shower. All the furniture in the house was very nice and tasteful, and seemed to be good quality. The kitchen was great, and had high quality pots, pans and utensils. It was a treat to cook here!
Now the reason for 4 stars rather than 5. The third bedroom down in the basement is not great. It is a large room, but other than the bunks, there is not one other piece of furniture. And by that I mean no closet, no chest of drawers, no dresser, no mirror, nothing on the walls. It was completely barren, and felt like an afterthought to the rest of the house. It was a challenge to have four people sleeping down there, and nothing to even unpack clothes into. In addition, this bedroom adjoins the garage and the laundry room. Not an ideal situation if you have late sleepers, or if you simply don’t want to be traipsing through someone else’s bedroom in order to do laundry or leave the house. We averted this by not parking in the garage, which was fine since we were here in summer, but in winter this would be a serious concern for me. Finally, the bathroom in the basement is shabby. Dark and dingy, and not in tone with the rest of the house at all.
In conclusion, we really enjoyed our stay, and would probably stay here again, but the third bedroom situation definitely needs some improving. It is an ideal place for groups that need only 2 bedrooms. If the owners are willing, a few things could make a big difference in the basement room. If you’re headed to Jackson Hole area and want a peaceful, quite, and beautiful accommodation, this may fit the bill perfectly, especially for smaller groups.
