Over the last two years I've had the good fortune to stay at this stone cottage for several month long visits. The cottage is on a nice street with many fine houses but if you were asked to pick the one you'd most like to stay in based on charm, the choice is easy. How often do you get to rent a place that makes you proud and happy to stay in?
Each time I arrived at this property I knew just what to expect, a home that is perfectly clean, inviting, and comfortable. This house is one of the last unmolested homes in an old neighborhood and the owner has done everything possible to keep this little house in perfect condition.
And speaking of the owner, you'll meet no better host than Deirdre. She is the sort of person that has made Austin famous. It's her dedication that has made her property special, and it's her graciousness that will make your visit effortless.
We had a WONDERFUL summer on 37th St. The neighborhood was nice and quiet for work during the day and for me to do my reading and writing assignments in the evenings, after the baby was in bed. Before or after dinner, we would often head out on the bikes to find a new neighborhood pool to enjoy. I'd forgotten how simply nice life in Texas can be. All those silly people complaining about the heat.....when you've got great city parks and pools just a short bike ride away....And great shade trees to enjoy breakfast and lunch under out on the deck. We loved it. And it was such a pleasure to look up from my book or notebook to see a lovely house. I can't imagine we would have been as comfortable or felt as at home anywhere else. Thank you so much for all the work you put into the place so that we could have such an enjoyable time there. Give our thanks to Jim and Curly, for all their help. They made us feel like we had wonderful neighbors, as if we had lived there for years.
This was a great place for our small family to stay during a renovation in Austin. We loved walking to Kerbey Lane and Brick Oven and some of our old haunts. The cottage is classic old Austin and very well kept and clean. The beds are great and linens nice and white and clean. It was smooth getting set up and suited our busy life in Austin. We appreciated the little details like dropping by some movies and it was fun to drink a glass of wine and relax in the evening. Make sure to walk the neighborhood often if you stay!
This adorable cottage is a well-maintained gem located conveniently in Central Austin, just a few minutes from downtown. As locals, living in Austin for roughly 16 years with 2 teenagers and 2 cats, we were ecstatic to find this 2/1 furnished rental when our house took longer to build than expected. The property was exactly as expected from the description and photos. Original hardwood floors, mid-century style furniture, comfortable beds with luxurious linens and towels made it feel like a vacation and exemplified everything we love about Austin. The kitchen was stocked with everything we needed from appliances to dishes, cookware, etc. Washer/dryer was a must have with 2 kids and didn't disappoint, being very easy to use and SO convenient. Lovely covered dining area in the backyard and relaxing deck with beautiful outdoor lights in a quiet neighborhood. We also rented the 1/1 studio just off the back deck to ensure that our two teenagers had separate spaces, critical when one is an avid gamer. Very cute space with twin bed, dresser and private bath.
The property location was also close to one of our favorite swimming pools, Ramsey Park, making it easy to entertain the kids. Several restaurants within walking distance and even more within a short drive. Close to Central Market, UT, as well as both Mopac and IH35, yet quiet and family-oriented area. Friendly neighbors, ample parking and great value for the price. I might have to start taking local vacations more often!
The Property owner is first class all around and bent over backwards to ensure our stay was everything we expected and more. Prior to us, she admitted she hadn't rented to anyone with cats but was willing to take a chance, not something everyone is willing to do. She was a lifesaver and the utmost professional. I would highly recommend this property to anyone from a visiting tourist to a local, including families, as it easily meets the needs of a wide variety of potential patrons. We ended up staying about 7 weeks before our house was move-in ready and we couldn't have found a better option. Highly, highly recommend!!
This place was perfect! I was honestly a little nervous since I had not used Homeaway before but the house was exactly as described. Everything was so very clean and extraordinarily well-maintained not to mentioned comfortable! The location was great (just a few miles away from downtown) and it had all the amenities that I needed to get started on my month long stay. Deirdre is such an amazing person and I feel honored to have met her! She couldn't have been more helpful and was always there if we need her. I highly recommend this house to everyone and will definitely be staying here during my future trips to Austin. Check out the Salty Sow (my favorite restaurant in Austin) and If you are on the east side at any point try out Justine’s Brasserie (french restaurant) and The East Side Showroom (restaurant and bar).
Amazing property with superb location in a charming vintage neighborhood with trees, birds and a breeze. The stone cottage was a fun, unique home that was perfect for our family and dogs. We were centrally located to all the Austin hotspots and enjoyed some of the best, most reasonably priced food in the country. The owner is a joy and makes the AUSTIN experience so much more personal.
