"Let me begin by saying I am no stranger to the Vineyard-I’ve been coming here to visit family for over 55 years. But it wasn’t until the summer I rented the writer’s cabin that I once again found the Vineyard I remembered as a child. Gone were the noise, the traffic and the crowded beaches. For the nature lover, beachcomber, kayaker, sailor or someone who just likes to get away from it all, the cabin on the Cove has something for everyone. You’ll start to feel like you own a little piece of this “heaven on earth” as you return again and again.
The cabin has everything you need for your vacation-even includes use of kayaks, sailboats and a canoe. You'll find everything clean when you arrive and I hope you get to meet the owners as they'll make you feel right at home. I love the outside shower, the woodstove on a cool summer night, and the king size bed that’s as comfortable as a four star hotel.
I’ve recommended the cabin to several friends and now they too come back year after year. Visitor’s kids especially love the surf and are especially thrilled when the “cut’ is open between the pond and the ocean. For younger children there is even a fresh water pond right next to the ocean.
It's fun to go out to dinner once or twice but I prefer barbecuing swordfish on the grill provided and eating on the deck, watching the sunset over the cove. I also like to take in a concert and have seen some well-known performers each summer.
Animal life abounds on this peaceful salt-water pond. Bring your camera to photograph the osprey, swans and if you're very fortunate, you may even meet the sea otters in the cove as a friend of mine did early one morning.
When I walk in the door of the cabin, I shout out, “I’m home”! Enjoy your stay!
