This cabin has been in my family since 1941. It was being built by my grandfather and his 3 sons(my father was 7 at the time) when Pearl Harbor was being bombed. So it has a lot of memories in it for my family. My husband and I bought it from my 2 uncles in 1991 and now share 2/3 ownership with my dad. We have refurbished it and updated it without taking away the beautiful memories of the history. You can still see the handprints on the A- frame wood ceiling from where they had to place each piece.
This cabin means a lot to me and my family and we look forward to sharing it with you!
We were looking for a relaxing waterfront getaway that was quiet, yet still had nearby activities. This place was perfect!! We spent part of each day exploring the area, but returned in the afternoon to enjoy the beach here, and spend time on the porch watching boats and the birds. Caught a few fish too!!
Thank you for a lovely stay.
When running a marathon, I always look for a hotel with a kitchen so we can cook our own food. Upon hearing about VRBO, I found this great cabin just across the York River and not far from the One City Marathon start line. The cabin was perfect for my family as we were also on the kid's Spring break for a week. The cabin was the perfect home base for all our travels as it is a short drive to get to everything. Other than food, the cabin is fully stocked with everything you need. The property is great as it sits on a hill overlooking the York River. The sunsets were amazing and there was room for the kids to roam. There is even a beach area on the river. Larry and Sheila were wonderful and helpful hosts. I would not hesitate to stay here again. We had a fantastic Spring break and I had one of my best races!
This cabin and its location was absolutely perfect for our honeymoon week! Sheila and Larry have everything you could want or need ready for you. The cabin is in a quiet, secluded area, but close to everything. We spent most of our week touring the Historic Triangle, but couldn't wait to get back 'home' to the cabin. It was so peaceful, so clean, such cozy decor. How great it was enjoying the deck or screened porch, taking in the view of the river. I can't wait to go back! Thank you Sheila and Larry for sharing your little piece of heaven with us! Kim and John
This Cabin is Paradise. This was our second stay in only a few months. The cabin is beautiful. Very clean and well kept. Beautful deck overlooking the water to watch the dolphins as you sip your coffee in th morning. Very quiet and peaceful We brought our young children this time and they had a wonderful time fishing, playing on the beach and in the water, hunting frogs and visitng yorktown and Williamsburg. The home owners are very friendly and knowledgeable about the area. Will be back for yrs to come for our family vacations.
loved this place! was as described and just so serene and privately peaceful. Owners are wonderful and we would recommend this property. The RiverView Restaurant and the EggHead Diner were great to enjoy a meal. Everything is close by and the owners were great! We can't wait to come back again!
First thank you for allowing others to enjoy this fantastic property. You are very accommodating and friendly. Everything was neat and we had all that was needed for a lovely stay. The cabin was spacious and unique. The views and beach gives the best gift of all to expand your mind....loved it! The location is close to everything, grocery, post office, fitness center, but being at the end of the road and across from the park felt very private. Being right on the point of were the battles took place was amazing and learning our history made me understand so much. Loved Yorktown Pub and that whole scene directly across the river. I was so impressed!! We would return.
