Such a charming camp, and so well equipped! We loved it, and spent most of our time reading and relaxing on the porch. We loved the seclusion, the quiet lake (a wonderful surprise) and the beautiful full moon. The dinghy is a fabulous addition! Thanks so much!

Peaceful September

  • 5 of 5
What a lovely cottage! We arrived home tonight and so wish we were still feeding the fire at Morningside and enjoying the cool, refreshing September air off the lake. Not one complaint. Everything was as stated and more. Comfy beds, plenty of linens, warm blankets, well equipped kitchen (esp. loved having a dishwasher) and options galore for sitting outside on the porch, deck or along the shore. We kayaked out to the island and were delighted to see the huge eagle nest and two eagles. A very nice place to be in September - the lake was very quiet.

A Piece of Heaven!

  • 5 of 5
Morningside Cottage is absolutely beautiful and Adele is a JOY! Our party of four included two couples, our selves (age 55-62) and our inlaws (age mid-to-late 70's.) Everything presented in the photos of the cottage is accurate and it is adorable. Adele provides wonderful, fresh linens and plenty of towels and blankets, and having the washer and dryer leaves you no excuse to go home with dirty clothes! The kitchen is stocked magnificently with various pots, pans and utensils, and the dishwasher makes it a pleasure for the cook! It's probably better than our kitchen at home! Seating for dining is plentiful, and oh, that screened-in porch in the back!! That alone is worth the price of admission!

Adele provides her guests with privacy yet is a phone call away when she is needed. Unfortunately we underestimated Mother Nature a bit; the lake became really rough and our pontoon boat had a tangle with rocks near the dock. It was pretty scary, so unless you're are a very good boatsperson, you might want to fish from the dock or boat on a smaller lake, because Sebago Lake B-I-G, pretty much like the ocean. Adele actually jumped into the lake in an attempt to de-snag us; I now will refer to her as Mighty Mouse! She is wonderful.

It is mentioned in the amenities section of the posting that Morningside Cottage is"... unsuitable for elderly or infirm...wheelchair inaccessible" and this is true. I chatted with Adele about this before we booked and she was very informative. I felt our old relatives would be fine. However, potential guests should know that both bathrooms are on the first floor (I didn't notice this in the pictures, although it does clearly say they are next to each other.) Also, there are two steps that lead down into the kitchen (there's a great safety handle to grab onto.) I did not realize this from the pictures. So, if stairs are an issue (as they are for my mother-in-law, who walks with a cane.) or you have more than the usual number of potty trips during the night (ladies, you know what I mean) you may want to note this.

Despite those factors (which to some may be very minor) we adored out trip. It truly is a piece of heaven. Thank you Adele & Mac.

Beautiful and charming cottage!

  • 5 of 5
What a lovely cottage! You can't get any closer to the water and the cottage is beautifully decorated and clean. Although the owners live next door, they are very respectful and you will enjoy a private vacation. We enjoyed renting a paddleboard for the week in Naples and a boat too. Water is crystal clear and we caught many fish off the dock. Wonderful spot! Thank you so much for sharing your home with us!

Charming lakefront cottage on Sebago

  • 5 of 5
Very clean and charming cottage on Sebago Lake. Mac and Adele were very friendly, helpful and easy to work with. We had a fun night out in Portland but also enjoyed Naples and some of the other local towns.

perfect september honeymoon spot :)

  • 5 of 5
We spent our honeymoon at Morningside. We stayed last year Sept 24 - Sept 28. Upon arrival we met Mac and Adele; they were very welcoming, just the nicest people! Knowing we were on our honeymoon, they left us a special welcome gift - such a sweet surprise!

The cottage and location were perfect, and we couldn't have chosen a better time of year. It was warm enough to sit outside every day and got just cool enough to make a fire at night. We used both the inside fireplace and outside firepit and were nice and warm sitting by both. The outdoor firepit is ten feet from the lake and there is plenty of firewood provided. Plus the propane heater inside provides plenty of heat if you're not in the mood for a fire!

The cottage is just SO charming and cozy, spotless and private. Everything you need is there, from kitchen tools to extra blankets to lots of great books to read.

There is a great place at the cottage to launch boats. We had our kayaks and took them out at least once a day. To switch it up we also took out the rowboat which was a lot easier to fish from and gave us the chance to go out in the same vessel; he fished, she read! As it was the end of September, we basically had the whole lake to ourselves. We saw fewer than ten boats out the whole time.

We also enjoyed visiting the wildlife sanctuary nearby and checking out a neat antique store in town, though it was hard to drag ourselves away from this heavenly little sanctuary by the lake.

Renting cabins and cottages is our most frequent way to vacation and we can honestly say this was our favorite of many - we highly recommend it to all. We hope to visit again someday soon! Thanks for everything, Mac and Adele!

Location, Beauty, Comfort and Clean!

Location, Beauty, Comfort and Clean!
Location, location, location - This beautiful cottage sits lakeside not 20 feet from lovely Lake Sebago. With the dock just steps from the screened in porch, the location couldn’t be more perfect. Whether spring, summer or fall, this location is magnificent!
Beauty – Rising early with a cup of coffee in hand and sitting on the dock, calm waters, sun shining. . . “Life just doesn’t get any better than this!”
Comfort – With a large dining area and living room facing the lake, we enjoyed some great nights with drinks, games and good conversation. The kids had a blast sitting by the fire and roasting marshmallows as the evenings turned to nights.
Clean - This cottage was extremely clean and had everything one could want and more. With 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, we had more than enough room for all of us. The owners were very friendly and accommodating, answering all our questions to ensure we enjoyed our stay.
We have lived in Canada for over 50 years now and we definitely get our share of beautiful lakes and scenery, but we find there is nothing like heading down to Maine for a week or two. The scenery is breathtaking and the lake is one of the cleanest lakes we have ever had the pleasure to swim in. We will definitely be returning to this wonderful cottage for many years to come!

Sebago Lake, Maine's second largest and home of the landlocked salmon, is at the center of a popular vacation area situated approximately 40 minutes from Portland International Airport and the ocean beaches of Southern Maine and about an hour from Freeport and its many shopping outlets. This pristine, deep and picturesque lake provides ample opportunites for all water sports and fishing. One sees loons and other birds, including nesting eagles on a nearby island. North Sebago is located on the quieter, western side of the lake, 6 miles from the recreational town of Naples, with its golf courses, restaurants, antique shops and more. Deertrees, one of New England's oldest summer theaters, is located in nearby Harrison.
