About The Owner
Your hosts, Chuck and Carmen, have been coming to St. John since 1986. We have owned other resort property, but none compares to the beauty, serenity and peacefulness of our island home in St. John.
The Owner purchased this condo in 2008
Why The Owner chose Cruz Bay
While on our honeymoon in St. Thomas in 1986, we came to St. John on a day-trip. After a tour of the island and being awestruck by its stunning beauty along with a visit to Trunk Bay, we looked at each other and said 'Why aren't we staying HERE on St. John?' Since then, we have visited many other islands and still agree that St. John consistently offers the most beautiful beaches, superb snorkeling, great hiking trails and boat tours, and a tranquility we have not found elsewhere. Once you've found the best, why go anywhere else? So we decided to buy, looked at this location and decided this is where we wanted to be... overlooking Cruz Bay, a few minutes walk to anywhere we want to go, accessible to taxis, the ferry docks--everything our hearts desired was within walking distance. Along with the convenience to all of 'Love City' we would also have a very important benefit; PARKING! For all that Cruz Bay has to offer, it lacks one important amenity...PARKING. So when you select 'Memory Maker' at Grande Bay Resort you will have parking for a rental car, which will enable you to explore the far reaches of this beautiful island. Our family and many friends who have visited here agree that we made a good choice when we chose to buy here this beautiful and convenient location. That good choice was reinforced when we learned how the original inhabitants of the Virgin Islands, the Arawak and the Carib Indians, lived on surrounding islands but not on St. John because they found the island to be too intensely spiritual to be their everyday home. Instead, they only visited St. John for special religious ceremonies. Even today that intense spirituality and peaceful tranquility that the Indians discovered so long ago is still there, waiting for yet another generation of island visitors. So come to St. John, so that you too can see, experience and believe... and Make Memories!
What makes this condo unique
After your short walk from the ferry docks to your unit, you will come to realize how very convenient this location is to everything. We are situated across the street from a sweet little beach on Cruz Bay that we can stroll on to downtown Wharfside Village which offers a variety of eateries, entertainment with live music and a Casino, and shopping to please everyone and further up you will find Mongoose Junction for additional eateries and shopping. Grocery shopping, the post office, internet cafe and hot spots for getting an island drink are all just a short walk away. Some beaches are just a hike away, like Solomon or Honeymoon, and others a hop on the taxi will take you to any beach you wish to visit. Be adventurous and check out the Coral Bay area with Skinny Legs, Island Blues and other wonderful shops and eateries, be sure you go over to Salt Pond for a little hike to the beach where you will find wonderful snorkeling. Be sure to take plenty of water, as you can become dehydrated very easily. Trunk Bay and Cinnamon Bay have food you can purchase along with restroom/shower facilities. Other beaches will not have those conveniences--if you're not sure, just check your guide books before heading out, so you won't have any surprises. Remember not to stand on the coral, don't kick up the sand, and most of all don't handle or remove anything from the water. There are sea urchins, fire coral and other creatures that may cause you pain and discomfort, so be careful and mindful of your environment.
