Nestled in the woods near abundant outdoor recreation and the quaint village of Bigfork is a newly remodeled vacation retreat for those wanting to experience the best of Montana. Within walking distance to the Swan River, lakes, and trails. Use this as your Base Camp to explore all that the Swan and Flathead Valleys have to offer.

We rent Kayaks, Mountain Bikes, and provide Guided Kayak Tours.

About Mark Schurke

Between the two of us we have lived in ten states and we chose Montana as our place to settle down and call home.

Marks has his degree in Parks Recreation & Tourism and has worked as a professional guide for many years sharing his love for his surroundings on rafts, canoes, bikes, x-country skis and dogsleds. He currently provides year-round guided services to visitors and locals of the Flathead Valley.

Samantha has her degree in Interior Design. She works as a freelance contractor selling interior design service to companies as well as individuals.

We have a son, ten dogs and four chickens. We love that we have a life that allows us to meet new people and share this beautiful place that we have found.

Charming cabin in the woods

My husband and I spent 2 glorious nights in this little cabin in the woods. Mark and Samantha, the owners, were so very accommodating and made sure we had everything we needed for our stay. The cabin is so cozy and has just the right amount of space needed for 2 people who just want to get away from it all. It is only about 10 minutes from downtown Bigfork and about that far from Swan Lake and Flathead Lake. Mark has kayaks and mountain bikes for rent and also runs a dogsledding/carting business with Inuit sled dogs. It was a blast getting a tour of the kennels where the dogs are kept. We even got to hold the newest pups which were adorable. We took a 3 hour kayak trip down the Swan River which was like floating on glass. Mark went out of his way to make sure we had a great time and even gave us free put-in and pick-up service. Mark also told us where we could find huckelberries so we spent about an hour in the woods picking the sweet berries (of course we brought our bear spray!!) You should definitely stay here if you enjoy a cozy retreat at a great price!

A wonderful place to stay

This was a great place from which to explore the Flathead Valley area. The cottage was very clean and we found everything to be as described. It is only five or ten minutes from Bigfork, but is in a very quiet and secluded area. The location was perfect for us and was a great place for me to try my hand at taking pictures of the Milky Way at night. The owners were great hosts and we really liked getting to see the kennel and learning about their Inuit sled dogs. We especially enjoyed getting to hold a couple of newly born puppies. We would stay here again and would recommend it to family and friends.

Very pretty and secluded.

What a great spot to enjoy Big Fork, MT. This was our first trip to the Big Sky country and we LOVE it! The listing was very accurate. Accommodations were comfortable and clean. Mark took us on a tour of his kennel and gave us a history of his pack that was very informative and interesting. The Swan River was a short, easy walk from the cabin. We even got to enjoy watching a fly-fisherman cast one morning! Big Fork was a great town to knock around in with many places to eat and drink as well as some cool shops to explore. Our only regret is that we didn't have more time to enjoy the area. Oh well, it gives us a reason for a return trip:) We highly recommend this cabin and would book it again. Thanks Mark!

Completely Charming...perfect little vacation cottage for anyone looking to get away from it all with their pet! The photos do not do justice to the cottage. So cute and comfortable, I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to my friends or family. The icing on the cake for me was how extremely clean it was. The title of affordable luxury is quite appropriate.

Loved the location. Loved the hospitality. Warmth, genuine friendliness, What a wonderful experience. Even place for our kid! What this cottage might lack in 5 star equipment, it makes up for a million times over in cleanliness and sheer peaceful atmosphere. We will be returning without a doubt! Can't WAIT to visit again!
