An organic paradise!

This cozy and comfortable apartment, tucked underneath the back side of the farm house (a restored historic storefront and home) is the perfect place to escape. The apartment is well-appointed with plenty of towels; WiFi access; a cool, covered lanai with a large Japanese ofuro (wooden soaking tub). Imagine relaxing in warm water up to your chin outdoors in the evening cool after a long day of travel -- HEAVEN! The small kitchen is complete with everything you need for basic meal preparation, and on our arrival we discovered a beautiful basket of home-grown organic produce and eggs - enough for my daughter to produce healthy and hearty breakfasts for the two of us the 4 mornings we were there.

The location of the farm is convenient yet removed. It's a little over a 35-mile drive from Hilo and about 20 miles from Waimea. We were always torn between leaving the farm to go sightseeing and just staying put and reveling in the solitude and peace of this little paradise. My daughter, who works in permaculture design, nature awareness and homesteading, spent a lot of time walking the grounds, listening to the birds and identifying plants. Kaye graciously invited her to participate in taro harvesting and spent quite a lot of time with both of us, discussing the farm, its history, and her vision for her land. My daughter and I were both ready to chuck everything and stay there forever!

I can't say enough about Kaye's gracious hospitality toward us. She made us feel welcome immediately. She was always available whenever we wanted her, but she was never intrusive. We feel that we have made a new friend, and we hope to visit Keolamauloa again soon.

This place has an astonishing beauty and quietness. I stayed for two nights and it felt as if I had the rest of one week. The location is perfect to explore the north east of Big Island and Hilo. I would like to come back for a longer stay.

Beautiful farm stay!

We stayed in this beautiful home for two nights. My husband and I loved the peacefulness and garden and my young son loved the animals, play equipment and hot tub. I wouldn't hesitate recommending a stay here to anyone. The only downside for me was that I was tempted to leave my current life, move to Hawaii, and stay at this little farm forever.

Perfect stay

Our family of 6 stayed here 8 nights after staying one week at the Hilton Waikoloa and everyone agreed that it was the highlight of our trip. The area, in our opinion, is the most beautiful part of Hawaii with the waterfalls, Waipio valley, and the lush landscape. Staying at the farmhouse was a special and unique experience for our whole family. If you want to truly get away and connect as a family while experiencing real life in Hawaii on a small organic farm, then this is the place! We all learned so much about Hawaii, native plants, and the history of the farm from our gracious hosts Kaye, Sally, and Kieth. Our 8 and 10 year old daughters loved playing with Kia'i (Kaye's granddaughter) on the zip line, playhouse, in the pond, and with all of the animals. We felt so at home here that it was hard to leave on our last day! We are grateful for our stay at Keolamauloa and for the opportunity to get to know the people that live there!
