Beautiful Location, The issues are in the Details

While the location is magnificent, there were a few pieces I wish I had known about the property. The house is pet friendly, which is great, but there is dog hair covering all of the upholstery and comforters. There are 2.5 bathrooms but one of the bathrooms which is in the open air loft does not have doors or complete walls, significantly limiting its privacy.
And while we understood the house may not have been rented in the off-season, when we entered the house, it was covered in cobwebs and there were food particles underneath most of the tables and chairs, requiring our group to clean it before we were able to enjoy it.
Finally, as a group that loves to cook, we should mention that the description of a fully ready kitchen is not accurate. We would suggest you bringing your own pans and ensure you bring every item you will need to cook including: salt, pepper, saran wrap, etc.
Finally, when these concerns were brought to the attention of the owner, there was no response.
Our group which included a child and four adults were very impressed with the location and enjoyed the beautiful walks right out the front door. As the owner of a VRBO rental myself, I value the ability to ensure our own rental is clean and ready for visitors each stay as well as we are more than willing to ensure each of our guests is fully satisfied with their stay.
Owner's Response: We are sorry your stay at Roark Mountain did not meet your expectations. As you can see from all of our previous guests reviews that is very uncommon. The loft/Master bath is very much a finished bath, if not a bit more modern than what you would expect in a cabin and fully as private as necessary. It is a "loft" bedroom/bathroom which is an open by design. Again, no one else has complained in four years of renting. As for the kitchen, its true you do need to bring your own spices, however, it is fully stocked with cookware. Cabin being dirty, purely false. As to the lack of response, we did respond to your first complaining email. Each of the additional emails demanding a refund warranted no response.
