Columbia Heights Apartment Rental Photos and Description

1 Bedrooms, 1 Bathrooms, Convertible bed(s), Sleeps 4

This charming apartment is the entire 3rd floor of an historic row house in the dynamic neighborhood of Columbia Heights. The price is $125.00 per night Aug. 1-Feb. 29 and $140.00 per night March 1-July 31. This INCLUDES tax and cleaning.

The apartment is separate and private with a door at the bottom of the stairs, but the entry is through the main house where I live. You may come and go as you please. I'm a writer & work at home.

Location- only Half-block from Columbia Heights Metro station, (Yellow/Green line) it is only ten minutes to most tourist sites - Smithsonian museums, US Capitol, Convention Center, Zoo.

What's Nearby? - Within 2 blocks you will find dozens of restaurants and cafes, a wine-bar, neighborhood pub, 2 coffee shops, a wine store, Starbucks, a Grocery Store, 24 hr. CVS drugstore.

DC-USA shopping center with Target & Marshals. (Travel light and buy it all here!)

Other neighborhoods with similar vibrant nightlife & restaurants - Adams Morgan, Dupont Circle, Mount Pleasant & U st - are an easy 15-20 minute walk, or one subway stop away.

Just three more stops along (no need to change trains) is the bustling Gallery Place/Chinatown neighborhood, with the MCI arena, Convention Center, American Art Museum, Spy museum, dozens of shops and restaurants, a 14 screen movie theater, even a bowling alley!

Amenities- The apartment has one bedroom with queen sized bed, a full bathroom and a separate living room with a comfy queen-sized sofa bed. There is a TV with cable & DVD in each room.

Wireless Internet.

In the living room there is a kitchenette with refrigerator, microwave, 2 electric burners, toaster, coffee maker etc. - everything you need to prepare light meals. You have use of washer/dryer on 2nd floor.

Children - Because of the stairs I don't take children between crawling and about age 5.

Older children are welcome. There is one Aerobed available, making it possible for 3 children to share the living room. This is very crowded however and not recommended for longer than 4 nights.

Free street parking permit. Off street parking is available.

Cleaning and tax is included in the listed rate.

Weekly rental is 7 days 6 nights.

Availability - Spring (March through June) fills fast. Please consult the calendar for openings.

Please tell me a bit about yourself in your reply.

Guestbook comments from the owner

Our first real vacation to D.C. and we could not have picked a better place to stay. Close to Metro station - just a 3-4 minute walk - and close to good places to eat and shop. Just two of us so we had plenty of room - fully furnished with everything you need and very comfortable for resting up for the next adventure. Landlady was very nice and usually home to ask questions and give advice. Neighborhood was quite nice and we never had any safety / security concerns. We would very highly recommend you give this place serious consideration if going to D.C. For us, it was just about perfect.

GREAT PLACE TO STAY, near metro

  • 5 of 5
the ad description is very accurate, and the unit itself was a bit bigger than I had expected. three of us spent a week here and all worked well. the bathroom is off the hall way, so is convenient to both the bedroom and living area, without bothering the other. Victoria is very helpful, and it is not uncomfortable coming in and out through the rest of the house.
if you are sleeping in the front[living/kitchen], you will likely need a pair of ear plugs from the stock in the medicine cabinet. street noise starts at about 6a.m. and runs until about 1a.m. being used to well water, DC water is foul, the first morning I went up the block to target to get a case of bottles. there is most any kind of a store or café in a block or so. the pets don't come into the rental unit, loved the cats, could have done without the dog's barking, but not a big problem. don't think you'll find a better location, half block from the Columbia heights metro rail, green and yellow lines. I always get a 7 day short trip metro rail pass. Victoria has smart cards that you can ad the pass to, or order your own online. the only odd thing is that she calls 6 nights a week, it is stated, but never have I run into this.

Owner's Response: Thanks for the good review Loren, I'm glad you enjoyed your stay. I know DC water is not to everyone's taste, (though it is safe to drink!) which is why I have a Britta filter pitcher in the kitchen for guests to use, so there is no need to haul in bottled water, unless of course you prefer to. And yes, Ginger is definitely a zealous watchdog, fortunately she only barks when people come and go, not all the time.

Great place, perfect location

  • 5 of 5
Victoria's place is so close to the Columbia Heights metro station! My flight was delayed by quite a bit so they were locking up the metro station behind me when I arrived in the neighborhood, but there are still so many people out and about at that hour that I felt perfectly safe walking the short distance down the block to the house. Victoria cheerfully waited up and even offered me a very welcome glass of wine after such a trying flight. The apartment is much bigger than it looks in the pictures, is spotlessly clean, and very quiet. It was fun and not a bit awkward to visit with Victoria and her pets on my way in and out of the house each day. I hope this apartment is available every time I go to DC.

Perfect Location, Great Host, don't miss out!

Perfect Location, Great Host, don't miss out!

Our family had a wonderful week staying in Columbia Heights. My husband and I along with our two children (ages 8 & 10) fit comfortably in the 3rd floor apartment. The metro was very accessible - it made the whole trip so easy. Victoria is not exaggerating how exceptionally close the shops & restaurants are - we made two trips to Target to stock up on snacks & supplies...at the max a 5 minute walk. As she mentions in the bio we were a little concerned that it may be strange to walk through her home to get to the apartment but it wasn't weird at all. Victoria was happy to answer any questions but was not at all intrusive. We loved our trip and now desperately want to move to DC! Highly recommend!

Perfect rental for our family of four

  • 5 of 5
We are a family of four and stayed a week at this property. It was the perfect property for us - a good place to sleep at night after a long day of visiting the D.C. sights.

The owner was a perfect host and very gracious when we walked through her living area to leave or return. Her dog and two cats were a nice diversion for our kids while they waited for us to leave. She has good tourist information, although you'll want to do your own research or buy the current guidebook for the latest information.

Property is clean and well-maintained. The kitchenette was great for our simple cereal breakfasts, storing snacks and leftovers, and keeping cold drinks. Our kids shared the queen sofa bed, and it worked for them. My wife and I slept in a soft, comfortable bed. Plenty of pillows and blankets for all. One bathroom, which was fine for us. Plenty of hot water. A nice sized closet in each room, and a dresser in our room to store our stuff. However I would suggest not over-packing since you're hauling your luggage up to the third floor. And there's not a ton of floor space if you're using both beds.

Neighborhood is urban. Two grocery stores within easy walking distance. The owner has a map and menus of restaurants nearby. (We had a great dinner the first night at the El Rinconcito Cafe II, about 2 blocks away. El Salvadorean/Latin. Get a pupusa, if you've never had one.)

I would recommend this place to any family member or friend. We would most definitely stay here again!

The perfect place to stay in DC....

  • 5 of 5
My husband and two boys, ages 20 and 17, stayed with Vickie the beginning of June for my nephew's wedding. We so enjoyed coming "home" from a busy day in DC. The location was perfect, so close to the Metro, restaurants and stores. Everything we needed was less than 1 block away, yet the apartment was quiet and homey. Vickie was an EXCELLENT host and we so enjoyed her dog and kitties.

Location Location Location!

Clean, bright, comfortable, lots of room for unpacking. So close to the metro, shopping, dining, groceries. Couldn't have asked for a better location. Recommending to friends and family. Host is very nice--you will get to interact some on way up and down to "apartment." Fun taste of big city living. My kids loved not having to use the car all week. Museums in D.C. are really great! Packed a lunch on icepack during day so didn't have to know exactly where to eat. Saved time and money. Nationals ballpark very fun and so easy to get to. Had a great trip!
