YOSEMITE PARK AND BASS LAKE ARE STILL AN AMAZING AND AFFORDABLE VACATION COMBINATION! OUR WHOLE CABIN COSTS LESS THAN ONE HOTEL ROOM AT YOSEMITE.
'We had such a wonderful time at your cabin. It was such a wonderful change from a boring hotel room' (Todd B.- recent guest)
This is a charming and comfortable cabin at Bass Lake that is somewhat secluded on a small hill overlooking the lake. There is one master bedroom and full bath with a California King bed and a TV. The second bedroom is small, with a bunk bed that is twin-sized on top and full-sized on the bottom. This bedroom has its own bathroom with a shower, toilet and sink. The living room has a queen-sized Ikea sofa bed (comfy!) and a large TV with DVD/VCR player. The modern kitchen has a nook that sits 4-6. There is an adjacent library/den area with a larger table that can be used for dining, game playing, puzzles, crafts, working at your laptop, etc.
There is a hot tub on the deck that overlooks the lake. The hot tub is especially wonderful at night when all is quiet and the stars are bright. There is a patio table (with umbrella) which is the perfect spot for eating all meals, game-playing, relaxing with a glass of wine, etc. You will definitely spend a lot of time on the deck overlooking the hillside and lake. To the side of the house is an enclosed yard area with a concrete patio and a basketball hoop. Children love to play in this side-yard area (although young children must always be supervised)
It is a 5-minute walk to the lake. The Falls beach area is less than a mile down the road. In the other direction, there are many public beaches within walking distance or just a short drive...just choose one that fits your fancy. If you have young children, the beaches closest to our cabin have lots of shallow areas that are perfect for children to play safely in. The water is a great temperature for swimming during the summer. The Pines Village is 2 miles down the road. There you'll find The Pines grocery store, a gas station, a few restaurants and shops to browse in. There are boat and other rentals available on both sides of the lake as well as a couple of amazing burger, sandwich and ice-cream places (Millers Landing and The Forks).
New: Tempur-Pedic mattress toppers in both bedrooms! Sleep like a dream!
New: high chair, Pak'N'Play and baby toys! Save yourself the hassle of packing this essential baby gear!
The town of Oakhurst is just 8 miles away and has a wide variety of restaurants, movie theaters, grocery stores, bowling, etc. There is also good golf, hiking and fishing nearby. And of course, Yosemite is just up the road! It's a 20 minute drive to the southern entrance to Yosemite (and the Mariposa Grove) and then another 40 minutes down into Yosemite Valley. Day trips into Yosemite are very easy to do....then come back to soak in the hot tub at night!
This cabin is a perfect retreat for couples who want a quiet get-away. Families love it too!

We are a couple in our early 60's from the San Francisco Bay Area. Bass Lake is a 3-hour drive from our home. We bought our cabin 11 years ago while taking an anniversary trip to a Bed and Breakfast in the area. We stopped by a realtor's office for a casual chat, found out that this little home had just become available for sale and hadn't yet been listed, went over to take a look, and made an offer to buy it! Thus, we returned from our anniversary weekend as first-time cabin owners.
We have traveled throughout France and stayed at many wonderful bed-and-breakfasts; we'd love for our French friends to enjoy our cabin while visiting America,
Wendy Smith purchased this cabin in 2002
We love the peace and beauty of the mountain area. Although we have a boat, we find that we prefer the area when it's less crowded and we can hike and relax. My husband is a photographer, a la Ansel Adams, so there are limitless possibilities for his passion.
The hot tub under the starry sky soothes many harried souls. The lake is beautiful from all directions, whether you're on it or biking or walking around it. Burgers and sandwiches at Millers Landing must not be missed. A romantic dinner at Duceys is worth every penny. Cuddling in the cabin living room by the fire with a good DVD and a good local wine or hot cocoa is enjoyable, no matter what the weather is doing outside.
Great place and great time! The apartment is a real family place and therefore has the good energy of a "real" place. Very friendly host and place, we had a great time. The proximity of both the lake and Yosemite makes it a perfect place for family holiday (we came with two young children). Thank you Wendy.
Great setup and atmosphere, well equipped, clean and convenient ,
We will come back next year
Great location, Wendy is wonderful extremely recommend
This was my first time booking a vacation rental so I was unsure what to expect. This property far exceeded my expectations. The house was clean and smelled fresh. The property was cozy but had a wonderful layout. It was accessible to Bass Lake where we spent the day on a boat fishing. There was everything you could need in a home. The locals were wonderful at the surrounding locations and even gave good information on places to see that weren't popular tourist attractions. The home is a bit of a drive from the Yosemite Falls area but is close to the entrance of Yosemite. There is another area called Nelder Grove that had remarkable Redwoods. The property itself provided a good view to the stars at night. Although set back from more crowded areas if you were outside you could still hear people from the properties across the road. I would highly recommend this home as it was absolutely perfect!
My girlfriends daughter, boyfriend and new grandbaby were here from wisconsin and wanted to be in a nice cabin on the lake. You can't go wrong with the place. from the momment we got to the cabin I could tell that is was just perfect. We stayed for 2 nights and had the time of our lives. Rooms were large enough for all of us to sleep comfortably. Patio looks right out to Bass Lake and the weather was perfect in Aug. Stove, Fridge, Coffee maker, Microwave, Washer and Dryer all provided. They have a " Sharing is Caring " so to speak, other people have been kind to leave things that we may forget about while on vacation, Coffee filters, Salt and Pepper and all other types of condements. When we had to check out the whol;e family said that this was the nicest place that they have ever stayed at ( and they live in the mountains of Wisconsin ). I would book this on my next adventure to California.
We were 2 family with 2 kids ( 14&7 ), the place was truly small for all of us, so I don't recommend it even for 2 couple, it will be great for a family with 2 very young kids under 10! We also could not find the dishwasher!!! I think it should be removed from the description. One last thing the house needs a very deep cleaning, towels and sheets were very clean, kitchen and bathrooms also very clean but you could find dust all over... Seems like the cleaning lady just take care of important things. Overall I liked it and would do it again.
House was perfect for a weekend getaway with a couple girlfriends. Really close to the lake and pretty close to Yosemite. Big kitchen was nice and the house had lots of games which was fun. Wendy provided great directions and instructions on the house, didn't have any problems.
We stayed 4 nights last month. We spent the first day playing in Bass Lake. Thanks for having water toys available. Then we traveled to Yosemite and Mariposa Grove. Loved coming back to the "home away from home". Perfect for grandparents, our daughter and two young granddaughters. We appreciated all the many board games, plenty of space, basketball net and fully equipped kitchen. I especially liked the table in the breakfast nook where we had home cooked breakfast and dinner. Thanks Wendy for sharing your home. Noa will always remember the toad she and Gpa found.
