Perfect Spot off the Beaten Path!!!

  • 5 of 5

We really enjoyed our stay here. We stayed in the upstairs part of the house and had plenty of room. Nice big living room and kitchen area with a very modern feel. I thought it was decorated very well with plenty of taste and suited our needs perfectly. More than enough cooking utensils with pots and pans and appliances to make anything you want. The house was very clean and well kept along with the neighborhood and general area. Has a large wrap around porch to sit out and enjoy the beautiful weather. The ocean was just a short walk across the street and can be seen from the porch. There is a nice little pond literally on the side of the house that wraps through a few of the neighboring houses that we swam in (has concrete steps right next to the house to get in). We split our trip up into 3 nights at this place and 3 nights in a condo/resort on the Kona/Waikoloa side. At the end of the stay we all wished we had just stayed here the whole time. It was very convenient to see the all Volcanoes and the waterfalls, rain forests, warm springs down the road, and botanical gardens. I think the Kona side is more "trendy" right now for tourists, but this side of the island is the true Hawaii for me. Thanks Jeana.

Lovely home, lovely spot

  • 4 of 5

We spent a week here and thoroughly enjoyed it. The home is very nicely remodeled and in a beautiful neighborhood with it's own pond. We liked feeding the fish! Also a short walk to Champagne Pond allowed for some great snorkeling. The snorkeling in the tidal pools down the road a few minutes (by car) was really amazing. I really would like to rate 4.5 stars as the good far outweighed the small details we found a problem. One, while the furnishings are lovely, they are not really very comfortable for relaxing in. The room is so large that a big comfy sectional would be a great modification. The other issue was tiny pots and pans. However, the ladies who were taking care of the downstairs property notified Jeanna and they delivered a new set the next day. But it was close to the end of the week so we did not even open the box. And it would be nice if one of the bedrooms had a king sized bed. However, Customer service was excellent, great restaurants were available in Pahoa and we got to see some friends who moved there four years ago. And, this is important, it is by far the cleanest vacation rental property I have ever stayed in so kudos for that. I absolutely recommend staying here if you are considering a visit to the east side of the big island and don't care for hotels or resorts... like us! Oh and great value for the price for sure!

Made Memories that will Last Forever

  • 5 of 5

From a Guest who visited right after we had a tropical storm that knocked out power to this area for weeks:

We had a wonderful time, no complaints of any kind and my family members were all so appreciative of everything that was done to keep us safe and happy--I can never thank you enough.

I wanted our visit to be perfect--we all agreed we would not have changed one thing--we had weird meals-- making coffee on the grill was quite an experience, and made you really appreciate your first cup in the morning--but that only added to the fun.

We sat outdoors in the evenings and watched the stars, ever mindful that we were seeing some of them for the first time, as our atmosphere is not so clear--we laughed and joked and made memories that will have to last us forever, because we will never be able to do that again. This was a truly once-in-a-lifetime (mine) event and I pray that I never forget one moment.

It was a joy and privilege to meet you, very thoughtful of you to check on us.

Aloha, in every sense of that beautiful word,

The M Family

Champagne Ponds

  • 4 of 5

We stayed at this unit for four nights. We really enjoyed the area! The private pond was great. Our children enjoyed swimming in it. We also enjoyed snorkeling at Champagne Pond and the "Vacationland" area. This was some of the best snorkeling we have enjoyed in Hawaii, and we have snorkeled many places. Lava Tree State Park was also great as well as the very lush vegetation along the highways. The house was nice although the main bed was a bit too soft for our comfort. We thought it was a great value for the money. The location was relaxing and unique.
