One of two adjacent beachfront homes, approximately 75 yards across a large spacious lawn area to a low dune and sandy beach. (See below for information on the second home.) The property is in a quiet residential neighborhood, but very convenient to shopping, fronted by a hand-cut lava rock wall.
Lemon and banana trees and other beautiful tropical plants adorn the property. The large lawn area between the house and the beach contains rows of palm trees and a banyan tree that is over a hundred years old. A wonderful place for family fun. The beach is on a shallow lagoon with a fringing reef, where locals fish and gather seaweed in the tidepools. The dune area above the beach is a regular destination for turtles to come ashore and lay their eggs. Beyond the reef, whales can often be seen during the whale season.
The house is a beautiful 4 bedroom, 2-1/2 bath home that sleeps 8 (up to 10, with children). Two of the bedrooms have king-size beds, a third has 2 double beds and the 4th has 2 twin beds. The house has beautiful maple flooring, granite counter tops and maple kitchen cabinets. All 4 bedrooms are located on the 2nd story with a large deck (12 x 24) that overlooks the ocean. It's like sitting on top of the world!
All of the beautiful furnishings are comfortable, making it easy to feel at home, relax and enjoy your vacation. The kitchen is fully stocked (including a blender, toaster oven, microwave and Hawaiian dishware), and the dining table expands to seat 12 people.
Relax on the large patio facing the lawn and beach beyond, or lounge on deck chairs on the lawn. This home has everything you will need to enjoy your vacation---you feel at home the moment you walk in. You would never know you were one block from the main road of Kihei Town.
The house is adjacent to a 2-bedroom house under common ownership, which is also available to rent. (See VRBO Listing No. 180360.) A grounds keeper lives on site.
An opportunity to rent one or both homes---together they can sleep up to 12 guests (16, with children), making these homes a perfect place for a family reunion, anniversary, a cozy getaway or a memorable holiday.

This was our 4th year visiting this property! It is wonderful! We usually stay for 2+ weeks and never want to go home when our time is up. The home is large, lots of windows, very comfortable. Very private, it feels like you are on your own private Island!! Owners are very concerned and will help in anyway they can to make your visit the best it can be! We have already booked for next year!! Great price for this home, should be more, but don't tell the owners that!!
Half of our ten-day Maui vacation was spent at this comfortable beach home. For our group of 9 (3 generations, ages 6 to 79), we chose this site for close access to water activities, especially snorkeling and a trip to Molokini.
The house is modern, well furnished and maintained, and the management had provided careful instructions about parking, trash pickup, and other details. Our contact was very prompt and thorough in responding to our questions.
The beach is just beyond the back lawn well supplied with palms and other trees. It is pleasant to take the furnished lawn chairs into the shade and watch the local egrets as they shuttle up and down the flyway. A small flock of chickens enjoy the freedom of the large back yard, unmarred by fences.
Don footwear on your first trip to the beach. The sandy path collects nuts and twigs dropped from the trees. While on the narrow beach watch closely and try to spot the tiny translucent crab-like sand residents as they scamper away from your path; they are invisible when not moving. Swimming and snorkeling are probably better on other stretches of Kihei beaches, but here you might see parasailers and windsurfers hot-dogging when wind and waves get lively in the afternoon.
Keep your eyes open for the geckos that are common in these climates. We detected one that seemed to hang out behind a picture on the downstairs wall, and a (different?) one that lived behind a light fixture outside below the upstairs veranda.
Kihei is warm in August and some other months. Other reviewers have written, correctly, that AC would be nice. But when you are in Hawaii, on Maui, relax and enjoy it as it is.
We all had an absolutely great time at this place. If we ever need a Maui rental home of this size, we'll be sure to consider it.
My family and I recently rented both of these beachfront homes for our vacation in Maui. The homes were very nice and met our needs considering our large group. There were a variety of activities for all ages and interests. We really enjoyed our time snorkeling at the endless beaches, eating delicious food, exploring the area as well as relaxing at home. Brian was very responsive and dependable. He was willing to do all he could to go beyond our expectations and make our vacation comfortable.
For our first family vacation with 8 people under one roof for a week, we couldn’t have made a better choice. From the minute we walked in the door, we felt like we were home. Everything was as the owner promised and he was extremely helpful and accommodating. There were lots of places to have a quiet moment alone, the lawn was big enough to accommodate baseball games and we all felt like we had our own private oasis at the beach, sharing only with the turtles that either swam with us or rested on the sand close by. There were many special moments but one of my favourites was the first night when we were all sitting outside on the loungers, enjoying an evening drink and literally star gazing.
We all hope we will get another chance to embrace all this home and hospitality of the owner, have to offer.
All the best, Brian, and thank you again for sharing your piece of paradise.
My entire family (7 adults, 5 children) rented both houses (VRBO #180360) for a week. We had an INCREDIBLE time. The kids enjoyed the meticulously landscaped yard, and spent lots of time running around chasing geckos. The yard is well protected from the for times when you want a little time out of the sun. There is a beach right off the yard that has a rocky bottom. However, the owners provided water shoes of all shapes and sizes so we could swim without even noticing the rocks. Both houses are in very good shape, and EASILY handled our family. Having been to Kihei many times, we knew great places to go (Eskimo Candy for fresh fish, Sansei for sushi, Tommy Bahamas for AWESOME Mai Tais, Kalama Beach Park for surfing, Kamaole 1 and 2 for beaching it!). All of these great places were withing 5-10 min drive. We will definitely come back when we have another family reunion. The beaches on this side of the island are IDEAL for kids under 12, with small waves for boogie boarding and body boarding. We missed sitting out on the deck and having Mai Tais, watching the sunset and listening to the Beach Boys as soon as we pulled out of the driveway on our last day.
We had a fabulous family vacation and this location and the house right beside it was critical to it's success. We had 11 adults total with 4 in the smaller house and 7 in the big house. We had plenty of space and the amenities were exactly as stated in the location description. Brian was very easy to work with and when we had one small dishwasher issue he addressed it and had it fixed in a matter of hours. Both houses were very clean and spacious. The beach is a very short walk from the houses as well as shopping and grocery stores. We would recommend this location for anyone and hope to come back again for our next Hulacation Vacation!
Excellent winter get away, our entire family went, parents included. The house was more enjoyable than we anticipated. It had all the comforts of home, but with an oceanside view! Our teenagers were in heaven as our parents enjoyed the weather and comforts of the home. It was a wonderful time and Brian the owner was more than helpful. He stayed in touch with us frequently, which made us feel at ease. Gave advice when asked, was more than generous in helping set up oxygen rental for my father. I can't say enough about this vacation, it was truly fantastic. Hope to return soon.
