For fresh, healthy and delectable food, you're close to the Hawthorne Valley Biodynamic farm store, Guido's, a gourmet market in Pittsfield, a fabulous farmer's market of local vendors offering organic produce and grass fed meats.
Nearby activities include movie theaters, shopping malls, art museums -- The Clark, Mass MOCA and Norman Rockwell Museum-- plus an auction house in New Lebanon, two great restaurants within a 5 minute drive, plus Tanglewood, Lenox, MA and the Kripalu Yoga Center within a short driving distance. For skiers, you're close to Jiminy Peak ski area. 25 minutes by car will take you to North Adams, MA, Williams College and Chatham, NY. 40 minutes from Southern Vermont.
The house includes a wood-burning stove, deck off dining room with French doors, wrap-around screened-in porch, old fashioned claw-foot tub and fixtures in upstairs bathroom and laundry room with separate entrance that can be used to make herbal remedies, dry herbs or even as a small art studio.
The grounds include beautiful perennial flower gardens (peonies, roses, grape arbor, berry bushes), woodlands, a large meadow, on the Kinderhook creek (stocked with trout), a small stream that runs most of the year and small orchard (seckel pear, crabapple and apple). When there's enough snow cover, snow shoeing around the property is a fun way to get some exercise.
