Sugarloaf Paradise (17247 Allamanda Drive) is everything that draws visitors and residents to the lower Keys. There are beautiful sunrises and sunsets visible from both the front and back, gentle breezes through the palms, serenity and quiet of a deep lagoon, and water views front and back.
The house is fully equipped with all that is needed for meals and comfort, both indoors and out. There are stainless steel appliances, plenty of dishes and utensils, new linens, and new comfortable furniture and beds. Enjoy the sunset while sitting in the hot tub. Kayak, swim or snorkel from the dock on the lagoon. Enjoy the birds and wildlife. (A pair of iguanas – Bud and Weiser- live in the mangroves).Walk or bike through the protected areas that are right around the corner. Sit and enjoy your vacation on the screened in porches. Tie up your boat at the dock. Throw in the pole.
This home offers a peaceful, relaxing stay in the Keys and is only 15 minutes from Key West.

We left Sugarloaf Paradise. Now I understand feelings of Adam and Eva when they were expelled from Edom. It was marvelous vacation in the fabulous place.
Location, location, location… Location of your house was just perfect for us. My daughters, 6 and 9 years old, afraid to swim by themselves on wide-open water space, but your lagoon was just right size for them. All the time when we stay home they swam, snorkeled and kayaked on the lagoon.
We enjoyed you “backyard”. It is very green and private.
We loved your kitchen utensil.
House is very cozy. You could feel that everything made with care about renters.
It was just one minus. One of the bikes was broken, so we couldn’t go by Co Rd 939 and Loop Rd.
But anyway, Keys kept us busy. And we are very grateful for time we spent in your Sugarloaf Paradise!
Tanks a lot,
We had a great time! This house was very comfy and was furnished quite nicely. The lagoon was great and we loved all the fish in the lagoon. We also enjoyed looking at Bud and Weiser, the iguanas would come and visit daily. We brought our boat and had great lobster dinners. Would definitely recommend this property and also Mangrove Mamas for dinner. It was excellent . It is a quite neighborhood, but you can always go to key west for excitement! We had to leave. Little early because of tropical storm Isaac, but we had a blast!
Tim and Debbie, Thank you for sharing your home with us. We feel you found the perfect location for paradise. Our stay could not have been more relaxing from the hottub, kayaks and the fishing my family was very happy. So close to everything and yet so peaceful. We actually caught fish off the dock and ate them that night, along with Bud and Weiser we saw a large crab and jellyfish. My kids had so much fun. Thank You,
Steve and Shellie Bradford
Usually we never come back to the same place twice. Sugarloaf Paradise was an exception. It is little bit strange to say how nice it was in Paradise. But I could say - second time was even better.
Owners provided new bikes, so we explored area by Co Rd 939 and Loop Rd. We swam in the stone boarded river, snorkeled with horseshoe crabs and beautiful jellyfish (just avoid to touch them) in the lagoon on north side of Co Rd 939, found “hidden” pass to the broken bridge.
Previous year we wanted to go to the Looe reef but on the day which was reserved for the trip waves were too high and the trip was canceled. This time we decided to rent a boat to get the place for sure. We rented with Big Pine Key Boat Rental. Each day we were on phone and each time something was wrong (waves were too high, wind was too strong). When we finally get to the reef I was so thankful to Maya for choosing for us the right time to go. If you would like to have a perfect open water trip first you should catch a perfect weather condition. And about the reef: it is not huge at all, but it is a real alive reef, beautiful and big enough for one day exploration. Plus on our way back we met huge sea turtle, so I stopped a boat, jumped in to the water and filmed it.
Kayakers will love the Five Miles River that is located less than 1 mile west from Sugarloaf airdrome. Especially its south branches where you kayak through mangrove labyrinths.
April 3rd at about 9 P.M. my daughter saw big tasty lobster. (We saw few of them around our dock). So I put on snorkeling gear and jumped in to the water and… oh God, I was shining! It was just bioluminescent plankton, but it looked fantastic. All my family joined me to enjoy it. I had an impression that I was snorkeling in space and throwing out stars. Unforgettable experience! Great vacation! Lovely place!
Dear Debby and Tim,
Thank you for everything!
We rented this house for a month. This property is just lovely. The kitchen is well appointed and packed with good quality equipment .A very comfortable ,clean well appointed spacious home.It sits on an attractive salt water lagoon ,full of fish and the huge iguanas , that we have never seen in europe , wow.! Only 5 other properties share this and the beautiful views both back and front of the house. The area is totally first class. We enjoyed the bicycles supplied and made the most of the cycle paths in the area. Only a short drive to Key West and all off the attractions it has to offer , and the lovely friendly golf club , with a great professional . Local resturants only a short drive , The square grooper being a favourite. We were very sorry to leave.
The accommodations were more than we expected. Everything we needed was provided (except a pair of kitchen tongs, wow). We purchased the locally caught seafood and enjoyed cooking in the fully equipped kitchen and used the charcoal grill for fish and shrimp. Television and internet worked perfectly. The location was good and very quiet. We enjoyed Key West, but were happy to return to quiet of Sugarloaf Key. Would recommend this property!
