Staying in a living museum

The Aspen Creek Ranch was a wonderful experience. It isn't for the faint hearted in the winter but the beauty and grandeur was beyond our expectations. We had a herd of 50 to 75 elk stop by the ranch approximately 100 yards from the front door one morning. The nearby hills were great for sledding and the frozen creek provided a unique ice skating and exploration adventure for the kids. It was a lesson in living off the grid complete with solar panels and wind turbines which didn't really restrict us much or keep us from living comfortably. The explanations of how to use the electrical system properly was very through and helpful. If you want a secluded ranch experience with some great views, lots of wildlife and hearty mountains to explore, this is the place for you. However, if you want to ski, we were only 1 1/4 hrs. from Breckenridge ski area with a great sledding place at Carver Park and approx. 1 1/2 hrs from Colorado Springs with all its amenities. We hope to return someday and do some more exploring. It's a great family getaway and large enough for a large family and friends.

Thanks to Joel and family for providing such a wonderful place.

Perfect winter get-a-way

Before I came I worried that the weather would make our trip difficult. I was wrong! This beautiful house is near the state highway which is kept clear but without the traffic!
I spent all of my time here loving the remote setting and gorgeous, panoramic, mountain views!
The owner could not have helped make our family vacation easier or more enjoyable. Thanks again. We will be back!
Owner's Response: I appreciate you coming. I hope you can come back in the summer too.

We are so thankful such a nice place is available for rent. It was perfectly suited to this extended family of 25, over 1/2 of which were under 4 years old. We felt safe, had more than enough to do right there, good beds and bathrooms, dining and relaxing space, and wildlife. There were a couple of issues and the owner went to great lengths to see that we were taken care of well. We'd like to rent it again. Oh, one other thing: the moon and the stars in the milky-way are gorgeous... no street lights! And it is cool, dry air. Nice.
