Your hosts, Norm & Collie came to Costa Rica from the Seattle area in 2008. Collie retired from a nursing career, and Norm was, most recently, a computer network engineer, and prior to that owned and operated a custom cabinet shop in Seattle. While planning their retirement home, they decided on a separate cottage for visiting friends and relatives. As construction progressed, they decided to share their corner of paradise. This is not a large commercial development. You'll be the only guests on the 4 1/2 acre mountain top estate.

The cottage is really very nice. With a little more storage space, it could be a permanent residence.
The view from the front porch is outstanding. The trails with benches are modest in length, but are quite nice.
The nearby town of San Ramon is a good place to experience Costa Rican culture and life style. Do not miss the Friday/Saturday farmer's market.
Norm & Collie were very hospitable. They could not have been more helpful. They were happy to answer all of our many questions.
Norm and Collie made this a most memorable holiday season for my partner and I.
They met us at the drive and gave us a wealth of information to make the most of our two week stay! They even aided in repairing a flat tire to our rental car during our adventures. This property is centrally located to numerous points of interest in the Northern and Central Mountain Ranges. This property and owners exceeded our expectations!
I've been to costa rica 8 in the last 8 years and have travelled a good part of the country. This was my husband's first visit and wanted him to experience different parts of CR. Our first 3 nights were in Norm and Collie's Casita - lovely and clean with absolutely incredible views (when we could see them, being rainy season). Close to many of the Expat towns and 5,000' above sea level. We were constantly visited by many types of humming birds and the hiking path around their property is peaceful with great views as well. They are always happy to answer any questions or to make recommendations. Would highly recommend staying here if you are in the Central Valley.
We spent 2 weeks in this lovely casita and loved every minute! The casita is comfortable, clean, well equipped and has an ever changing view as the clouds blow by and reveal the stunning panoramic view of the Gulf of Nicoya. We were visited by a variety of birds and butterflies daily as the grounds are beautifully kept. Norm and Collie were awesome hosts! Collie greeted us with fresh muffins, and they were both a wealth of information and ideas about living in Costa Rica. Their directions for finding the property were extremely accurate. You must have a 4 wheel drive to get around Costa Rica, and , as we discovered, a GPS is a good idea as the signage is not the greatest!
The San Ramon area has lots to offer. Be sure and go to the Farmers' Market on Friday afternoons! We explored the Atenas, Grecia, and Sarchi areas, the Botanical Garden in Sarchi is lovely, soaked in the surf at Playa Dona Ana, enjoyed massages at Villa Blanca and also took in the La Garita Animal Habitat, The Butterfly Farm and Rancho San Miguel in La Guacima and the La Paz Waterfall Garden. We also just curled up and watched the lightening over the coast! There is no TV and the DVDs were not working, but the WiFi is excellent, so we used that for Netflix and reading. All in all, we would highly recommend this property to anyone looking for a quiet retreat from the hectic world below, and we would stay there again.
We met Norm & Collie two years ago when we first stayed on their mountain.
My wife found the casita on-line; I was a bit apprehensive at first. It seemed like a site out of time and place.
Now, I'm a convert.
Comfortable lodgings, easy access, great location...
Did I mention that we are going to build our retirement home in the area?
Love the place! Cannot say enough good things about Norm & Collies casita!!
We thoroughly enjoyed this mountain top casita. Great views, very private, easy internet, terrific shower and bed, wondrefull, friendly and helpfull hosts (Collie and Norm), and an outstanding library of movies (over 1000). Also, we enjoyed the 20 minute hiking trail around their property, and (of cousre) Collie's delicious banana bread! Everything was perfect and exceeded our expections. We very highly recommend it! Oh yes, Norm's directions were precise; and, Collie and Norm were very helpfull in answering all our questions about restuarants, living in Costa Rica, and where to buy groceries. Be sure to visit the farmers market if you are there on a Friday or Saturday!
Property was very clean, quiet, peaceful and secure. The owners were very welcoming and give you plenty of privacy. The view is beautiful and the bed was very comfortable. The only criticism we have is that the refrigerator is too small (minibar size) and there are too many couches crowding the Kitchen/living area. The bedroom, bath and patio are very nice. The nearby town of San Ramon is nice. We would highly recommend the Coffee tour in the nearby town of Naranjo!
