This quiet and private chalet in the heart of the southern Vermont Green Mountains is minutes from popular ski and golf resorts such as Stratton, Okemo and Bromley. Killington Ski area is approximately one hour away. Minutes from hiking on the Long Trail. Minutes from Manchester with its extensive shopping outlet stores, restaurants and Robert Todd Lincoln's Hildene attraction.
This Vermont chalet has been completely remodeled and upgraded with all the amenities. The chalet has a washer and dryer, wireless internet, cable television, and electric fireplace.
We are located 3 miles from the Stratton Mountain access road.
My wife, 2-yr-old daughter and I rented the house for a 3-day weekend and were very happy with the space and amenities, all of which were exactly as advertised. The house has a very cozy feel to it and is very well maintained. The location is nice and secluded and offers a nice break from city noise, if you happen to be coming from NYC or another urban area.
The night we got there it was about 25 degrees outside and the house was quite chilly but warmed up very nicely within a few hours after we turned on the heat. Having two bathrooms was a nice feature as well. We highly recommend Jake's Tavern (about 5 or 10 minutes north by car) for great bar food in a family-friendly atmosphere (you'll be very happy here if you like wings) - our daughter has a peanut allergy and Jake's uses no nut oils or nuts in any of their food.
Proximity to excellent state parks is great - plenty of great hiking nearby. Can only imagine how beautiful it must be in the winter.
Payment and communication with Theresa (the owner) was easy and clear - no surprises, which is a good thing in this regard.
Highly recommended all around. Thanks, Theresa!
3 couples, 3 days in March.
Great location (very private), great price, super close to Stratton Mt. as well as very quaint & quintessential Vermont towns. Theresa (property manager) was very helpful and easy to get in touch with. Clean and tidy. The kitchen is a galley, so it's tight when 2 are preparing dinner but is stocked with pots, pans, dishes, utensils, etc. We cooked breakfast and dinner for 6 for 3 days - so it was more than adequate. There were plenty of pillows, linens, and towels - all were clean and well kept. There's a great little grocery store close by, gas station, and a couple shops all within a few miles.
There are 3 full beds, there is NOT a queen bed in bedroom 1 as stated in the description. Beds are firm, so if you're used to a pillow-top bring something to soften the mattress, but for a weekend they were adequate.
We would definitely rent this house again!
My wife and I decided to take a last minute weekend trip to Stratton. Found this house, sent an email and appreciated the quick email responses to all our questions, and booked the house for 2 days. House was very clean when we arrived, and had everything we needed for a ski weekend. Price was very reasonable and it was about a 10 minute drive to Stratton. There are 3 bedrooms with queen size beds in each room so it was a little big for us, but we will visit in the future with 3 couples. Not a huge house, but great for a small group looking for a great price in a great location.
Never having been to the Stratton area before during winter, I was appalled at the cost of lodging on the slopes. Even the lowest prices at the base were only going to reward us with cramped accomodations sharing noisy common hallways, and traffic. We wanted more room to stretch out, get away from people and cars and have a place where the kids could play in the snow outside. We found this chalet and could not believe how INEXPENSIVE it was, yet so CLOSE to the mountain.
A number of ski shops, services and small market dot the main road between the chalet and the entrance road to Stratton. A larger market is north as you head toward the Londonderrys. Restaurants and a large grocery store are in Manchester & Manchester Center. How convenient!
We found everything we wanted in this chalet and it was wonderfully quiet being slightly off the road. It was very clean, well supplied with towels, pillows and blankets, comfortable for the 4 of us and allowed us to make our own meals and do our own laundry without feeling like we were tripping over each other as I would expect in a Stratton condo cell.
The morning after we arrived, we woke up to 12+ inches of snow. The driveway was plowed at sunrise knowing we may want to skeddadle up to the mountain early-- deck and stairs too. I had to dig out the car a little bit just to get doors and the trunk open, but I didn't mind.
The driveway and turnaround were completely cleared after we got back later that day.
We had a small problem with the washing machine cold water pressure during our stay and Theresa, the property manager, always responded promptly to our concerns.
We were just so impressed with the whole package. The proximity, the prompt attention to a problem, the value. It didn't take 20 inches of new snow to fall on the mountain that first night to make our stay highly satisfying! That was just gravy!
