A nice apartment in the middle of Haight-Ashbury and Golden Gate Park

Staying here turned out to be an essential component of our city experience. The place is nearly exactly as describe, complete with a “junk drawer”, so if you need a paper clip, rubber band, and a book mark from the Grand Canyon you are at the right place. It is homey and funky in the best way. So if you are the kind of traveler that prefers to spend their money on nice surroundings and stay in the McHiltons, this may not be the place for you. It is also very secure and surprisingly quiet from street noise after the daily traffic winds down.
We drove into town and I saw the other warnings about parking but it is far worse than that. It is very difficult to park and you have to be patient. If you have a choice to ditch the car and just use transit that is the wise thing to do. Or get directions to the public parking lot ahead of time so after circling for 20 minutes without finding anything you can go there instead of having a stroke.
Last, there is a rental bicycle shop only a block away and you can ride from there through Golden Gate park eventually making your way to the bridge and waterfront. You have the option of turning the bike in along the waterfront and taking the 71 bus home. They are high quality bikes and with good weather you will have an amazing day.
