Coyaba Villa....A Stunning, Luxury Villa on Taylor Bay

We stayed at Coyaba the first week of April but just getting around to writing the review now. We came back with mixed feelings due to two issues so wanted to take time to consider our comments since there are so many positives. First of all the villa is beautiful - the design and furnishings both interior and exterior are all lovely and functional. It is as represented and in fact the photos probably don't do the property justice. The heated pool was great. No deep end but that suited us with our two boys. The beach terribly boring - too shallow for us and no waves. If you have really little ones (toddlers) it's ok.

Karen and Paul's daughter Lizzie was our main contact once we arrived. She was delightful. So pleasant to deal with and very responsive. We had a problem with bugs biting my children with the windows open at night so we had closed everything up and slept with the ac on. At the end of the stay she didn't charge us for the ac as a gesture for our inconvenience. We hardly blamed her for mother nature so I thought that was very decent of her.

The home issue that we really couldn't come to terms with was the ant infestation in the kitchen. We noticed immediately upon arrival there were ants all over the kitchen near the cook top/oven/counter. We called Lizzie and she immediately came over with ant traps/spray etc. Unfortunately, there were just too many of them and our entire week it was difficult to think about cooking or eating in that beautiful looking kitchen. When the cleaning lady came Wed, we had difficulty communicating with her in English but finally conveyed concerns with the ants. She immediately grabbed some spray from the cabinet and sprayed the exhaust fan (ants entry point?) leading us to believe this was not a new issue.

Secondly, the construction that was taking place in front of us was noisy and reduced our privacy as the workers had a direct view to us at the pool and in our 2nd floor bedrooms. I think that should have been divulged when we were renting and would advise future renters to ask about the status since there was some conflict going on between the owner of the house going up and those in the development. Also, when the new house is finished it will likely impact the views from Coyaba which is a shame.

We would still say we had a good experience overall. Lovely house and would recommend it with the ant issue cleared up and clarification on the status of the construction between the house and ocean view.
