A stay at Casa Colibri encompasses all Sayulita has to offer at a great value!

Two years ago we quit our jobs and sold our home in San Diego to fulfill our dream of retirement in a Mexican seaside village.
We did our research, and decided Sayulita had all the qualities we were looking for. Authentic and quaint, yet lively and fun, a great surf break, stunning natural beauty, and a very friendly, safe community of locals and expats.
Joan and Dave purchased this house in 2013
After quite a few house hunting trips, we narrowed down our search to the south end of Sayulita. We wanted an exceptional home for our guests and ourselves, easy walking distance to town and the beach, with ocean and jungle views. When we toured Casa Colibri, we knew this was home. It is truly a special place that provides all Sayulita has to offer, beautiful views, close to everything, and tasteful, casual comfort.
Casa Colibri is located in a lush, colorful, garden setting overlooking Sayulita's beautiful bay. It is on a cobblestone street in a neighborhood that is private and quiet, yet close to all the action at the beach or in town. The décor is tasteful and authentic with all the amenities to make your vacation an exceptional one.
Three generations (6 individuals) of our family stayed at Casa Colibri for Christmas and New Year - a very busy time in Sayulita. Every evening we got to retreat from the activity to the lovely Casa, and every aspect of our stay was great. Joan arranged the very convenient shuttle pick up to and from the airport, with a delightful driver who waited for us despite a terrible delay at the airport, and stopped at the big grocery store on the way so that we could stock up for our arrival. After a long day of travel we couldn't have been happier with what awaited us - a spacious, beautifully decorated, clean, and well-stocked home, surrounded by lovely garden and beautiful view. The walk to the beach and town really is just 5 minutes (although more like 15 or 20 if you have a two-year old...), and we found a great walk through the jungle to Playa Muertos from the house. Joan and Dave were away for most of our visit, but the caretakers they had looking after us were very helpful and made sure we had everything we needed.
I traveled to Sayulita in Oct. with 2 friends for a week surf vacation. None of us had traveled there before and could not have had a better experience at Casa Colibri. Not only were the accommodations well above our expectations, the owners Joan and Dave were welcoming, helpful, and a great resource for us in exploring the town. The condo had just finished an amazing renovation, and the layout offers a ton of space and privacy. There is a functional, lovely kitchen (stocked with cooking essential, new pots, and Dave even supplied us with a coffee grounds for the next morning!) with a scenic, picturesque view. The owners supplied us with bottled water. Town is a quick 5 min walk downhill, which allows for close proximity to night life and the beach, and alternately feels like you are removed from the action of downtown immediately when you return. Relaxing and ideal, I would definitely stay here again and would recommend this rental to anyone traveling to Sayulita.
This was our third trip to Sayulita, but our first stay at Casa Colibri and we will certainly come back. We were one of the first guests to stay at their brand new one bedroom casita. We have used VRBO all over the world and this one exceeded our expectations. We took a leap of faith and rented it while it was still under construction based on the photos of the main home and Joan's understanding of what we were looking for. The home was beautifully constructed and had all the kitchen equipment many rentals skimp on. We love to shop locally and cook at home and everything from the knives (sharp!), cutting boards, to the full size stainless steel appliances made every meal a delight to prepare. Joan and Dave are warm, gracious hosts that are readily available for any questions or suggestions, but you don't feel like you are camping out in their living room! A truly wonderful stay and a great value!
We loved our vacation at Casa Colibri, and would highly recommend. We were made to feel at home by Joan & Dave, who are gracious hosts, and really provide a comfortable, relaxed atmosphere. The home itself has a great layout, and nice details. The bedrooms are spacious, and each has its own private bathroom with shower. We enjoyed the location, too, and felt that it was far enough from town to have serenity, while close enough to easily walk to the shops and restaurants. Joan and Dave gave us great recommendations, both for beaches & food! The gardens surrounding the place are lush and give the home even more privacy and beauty. Nice people & lovely home! Thank you!
We stayed at Casa Colibri for 5 nights in February 2014. As others have mentioned, the casita is well appointed, spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The view from the patio is spectacular and we enjoyed having breakfast out there each morning. However, the best thing about Casa Colibri was our hosts, Dave and Joan. We were so intrigued to hear their story of making the decision to move to Sayulita, and they could not have been more gracious and welcoming. The night we arrived, we hopped into their golf cart for a tour of the town, complete with a drive-through cerveza pick up! They dropped us off at a restaurant they recommended, and throughout our stay were available to answer any questions we might have. We really enjoyed meeting their kids, who often stopped to chat with us out on the patio ...great kids! We would highly recommend Casa Colibri to anyone coming to Sayulita - easy walking distance to town and the beach, and so comfortable that we really felt that we were coming "home" at the end of each day. Thanks, Dave and Joan, for a wonderful stay and your generosity - we hope to come and stay again!
We stayed in this beautiful casita for 2 weeks this May, 2014. The casita and the hosts exceeded my expectations all the way around. Although very private, I felt that if I needed anything at all, all I had to do was ask. We felt completely safe and well cared for. The casita itself is so very charming and extraordinarily comfortable. The photos do not really do it justice! The breezes are amazing and the view was something I will never forget. I spent many a morning with my coffee out on the veranda watching the sun rise over the mountains and sea - and listening to the birds sing their morning songs. Parrots too! I will stay here with Joan and Dave next time I come to Sayulita, which hopefully will be very soon. Really, it was lovely in every way.
