STUNNING OCEAN AND JUNGLE VIEWS, 5 MIN EASY WALK TO TOWN AND MAIN BEACH.

Sayulita House Rental Photos and Description

House, 2 Bedrooms + Convertible bed(s), 2 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Casa Colibri (Hummingbird) on Calle Naranjito is said to be one of the most photographed sights in Sayulita. It is a beautiful, spacious, custom-built casa situated 5 minutes from the heart of the village of Sayulita and the main beach, yet very private and quiet. Casa Colibri captures all the beauty and uniqueness Sayulita has to offer. You will enjoy a stunning view from each room, of the ocean, lush green mountains beyond, and surrounding jungle with beautiful hillside homes. The spacious 1000 sq ft casita has a private entrance and opens to a large patio overlooking the bay of Sayulita, providing indoor/outdoor living in a lush garden setting.

This two bedroom casita will sleep up to 5 people. It is very private with a separate walkway from the quiet cobblestone street below. The décor is tasteful and authentic with all the amenities to make your vacation easy and comfortable. The 1000 sq ft home surrounds a large terrace overlooking ocean and jungle views. The two spacious and airy bedrooms have views, comfy king-size beds, and air conditioning. They are situated at opposite ends of the casita, with the living room and kitchen in the center, to optimize privacy. One bedroom has handcrafted french doors opening to the terrace, the other has a sitting area with views of the jungle. One of the bedrooms can also be arranged with two twin beds if desired. Maid service is included. Enjoy tasteful Mexican decor with comfortable equipali furniture throughout. The kitchen is fully equipped and there is a propane bbq on the patio where you can relax with a margarita, grill your catch of the day, and watch the sunset.

The grounds are beautifully landscaped with walkways and terraces winding through an assortment of exotic, fragrant, flowering, tropical plants and trees. There is a almost always a refreshing ocean breeze blowing through the windows and across the patios.

An easy 5 minute scenic stroll down a cobblestone street will take you to the beach and village, where there are grocery stores and many good restaurants for every meal of the day, offering simple to gourmet, including American, Asian Fusion, Italian, French, and of course, delicious Mexican and seafood dishes. The shopping is awesome with unique jewelry, clothing, home décor, art galleries, and handmade items from all over Mexico. Spa treatments abound in several locations in town. And if you want some adventure during you stay there is surfing, fishing, horseback riding, ATVing, jungle hiking, and zip lining, all for which Sayulita is famous.

Nearby are many attractions for visitors. The quiet village of San Francisco (“San Pancho” to locals) is a six minute taxi ride to the north. It has a beautiful, wide and long beach with few people and a large lagoon with many shorebirds coming and going. There are several good restaurants there. You can also take a bus or cab from Sayulita to the Punta Mita peninsula, where you can catch a sailing, whale watching, or fishing trip out of the beautiful marina.

A stay at Casa Colibri encompasses all Sayulita has to offer at a great value!

Last year we quit our jobs and sold our home in San Diego to fulfill our dream of retirement in a Mexican seaside village.

We did our research, and decided Sayulita had all the qualities we were looking for. Authentic and quaint, yet lively and fun, a great surf break, stunning natural beauty, and a very friendly, safe community of locals and expats.

Joan and Dave purchased this house in 2013

After quite a few house hunting trips, we narrowed down our search to the south end of Sayulita. We wanted an exceptional home for our guests and ourselves, easy walking distance to town and the beach, with ocean and jungle views. When we toured Casa Colibri, we knew this was home. It is truly a special place that provides all Sayulita has to offer, beautiful views, close to everything, and tasteful, casual, comfort.

Casa Colibri is located in a lush, colorful, garden setting overlooking Sayulita's beautiful bay. It is private and quiet, yet close to all the action at the beach or in town. The décor is tasteful and authentic with all the amenities to make life easy and comfortable.

WONDERFUL PLACE, WONDERFUL HOSTS!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed at Casa Colibri for 5 nights in February 2014. As others have mentioned, the casita is well appointed, spacious, comfortable, and very clean. The view from the patio is spectacular and we enjoyed having breakfast out there each morning. However, the best thing about Casa Colibri was our hosts, Dave and Joan. We were so intrigued to hear their story of making the decision to move to Sayulita, and they could not have been more gracious and welcoming. The night we arrived, we hopped into their golf cart for a tour of the town, complete with a drive-through cerveza pick up! They dropped us off at a restaurant they recommended, and throughout our stay were available to answer any questions we might have. We really enjoyed meeting their kids, who often stopped to chat with us out on the patio ...great kids! We would highly recommend Casa Colibri to anyone coming to Sayulita - easy walking distance to town and the beach, and so comfortable that we really felt that we were coming "home" at the end of each day. Thanks, Dave and Joan, for a wonderful stay and your generosity - we hope to come and stay again!

BEST EVER!

  • 5 of 5
We stayed in this beautiful casita for 2 weeks this May, 2014. The casita and the hosts exceeded my expectations all the way around. Although very private, I felt that if I needed anything at all, all I had to do was ask. We felt completely safe and well cared for. The casita itself is so very charming and extraordinarily comfortable. The photos do not really do it justice! The breezes are amazing and the view was something I will never forget. I spent many a morning with my coffee out on the veranda watching the sun rise over the mountains and sea - and listening to the birds sing their morning songs. Parrots too! I will stay here with Joan and Dave next time I come to Sayulita, which hopefully will be very soon. Really, it was lovely in every way.

CASA COLIBRI IN SAYULITA APRIL 2014

  • 5 of 5
My husband and I just spent a week in Joan and Dave's casita in Sayulita. We had an incredible vacation. We had everything we needed in the casita - towels, blankets, a coffee maker, all the dishes necessary, beach towels, chairs, umbrella, lounge chairs, fans and lots of space. If you want to just relax and enjoy life, this is the place...the views are stunning from the patio. It is a short walk to town where you can choose shopping, the beach (tanning, surfing, paddle boarding, boogie boarding, shell collecting), great food or just strolling the quaint cobblestone streets and enjoying a simple life. Joan and Dave have been there for awhile and have great recommendations for food and activities. We tried salsa dancing, zip lining, surfing, and just flat -out relaxing. We would return in a heartbeat - couldn't have asked for better hosts and accommodations.

A BEAUTIFUL CASA IN A BEAUTIFUL TOWN

  • 5 of 5
My husband, sister and I just returned from a week at Casa Colibri. I have never written a review (of any kind) but promised Joan and Dave that I would because they were such wonderful hosts and we loved the place so much!

Bedrooms
The Casa is equipped to two (very large) bedrooms and baths (one for each bedroom). The beds were very comfortable and the bathrooms were nice as well. Stand up showers in both (no baths).

Kitchen
The counterspace is fairly limited but we found it completely sufficient for our needs for the week. They also have a coffee maker, toaster and electric kettle which we appreciated. Dave was very diligent about always making sure there was an extra water bottle in the house so we wouldn't run out. This was very nice as we were not sure where/how we were going to buy drinkable water for the week.

Living room
Not particularly inviting as there are two chairs on one side and then the couch (which could double as a bed) along one wall. As another reviewer mentioned, no tv, but who wants to spend time in front of the tv when you're in Mexico! I actually preferred not having one. As well, the living room wasn't that great but again, who wants to spend time inside when you're in Mexico AND you've got a GORGEOUS patio which brings me to...

Patio
The patio is the most beautiful patio I have EVER had when staying in Mexico. Huge, tons of beautiful flowers and vegetation, two lounge chairs, a table with four chairs as well, AND a beautiful view of the jungle/ocean (you can't see a ton of the ocean but it's still lovely). The Casa is up a hill somewhat which really makes the view spectacular. I think the patio was my favorite part of the place. I almost didn't want to leave it to go to the beach! And it had a good combination of shade and sun during the day (in March) which was really nice.

Internet
They had free wifi, which is certainly nice to have. My husband and sister had no issues with it.

Safes:
We were very happy to find they had a safe in each bedroom.

A/C
As another reviewer mentioned, the bedrooms both have AC (we just used ceiling fans).

Location
A bit of a walk from the beach, and uphill, as well as stairs to the Casa, but it was totally worth it. Would be tough, though, if you have limited mobility. As well, Sayulita is a BEAUTIFUL town and you are walking distance to everything (beach, grocery stores, restaurants etc.)

Joan and Dave were wonderful hosts and I would definitely consider returning!

WONDERFUL HOSTS

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I stayed at Dave and Joan's Casa Colibri in Mar 2014. First about the casa... the bed in the master was one you never wanted to get out of, everything you could need in the kitchen was there (including some coffee), all kinds of seating both in and out on the huge patio, there are two 'hotel' wall safes which is nice to leave one's passport, etc. in, nice fluffy bathroom towels and huge beach towels. The place is well looked after and looks just like the photos except in reality the place feels much bigger than the photos suggest. The view is stunning making one not want to leave (or maybe put an offer in on the place). About our hosts... Dave and Joan are the new owners and seem to fit the same bill as all the wonderful comments made about the previous owners. We arrived early from a week in Puerto Vallarta with dirty laundry, so after showing us all around the casa, Dave and Joan drove us and our laundry down in their golf cart and gave us a short tour of 'downtown' Sayulita, pointed out a restaurant on the beach where we could have lunch then left us to go drop off our laundry (and paid for and picked it up later). Not only that, but my wife had a few items that she did not want put in the dryer, so Joan did those herself at home. When we tried to pay the laundry bill, she wouldn't hear of it. Through conversation Joan found out that my wife does yoga, so she invited her to go. They invited us down to a beach gathering with some of their friends one day. The following week, Dave took us on the golf cart for an extended tour of Sayulita. We briefly met their two children (late teen and early twenties) on several occasions and they were very welcoming and a real delight. Now this last bit will not happen very often, if ever again, but they had friends to pick up at the airport the day we were leaving, and the timing worked out just right, so they offered to take us. A great way to end our time in Sayulita. There's more I can say of course, like Sayulita is a fun, energetic, peaceful place with a huge array of really good restaurants, but this is all stuff you probably already know if your thinking of renting.

EXCELLENT ACCOMMODATIONS, WELL SUITED FOR 2 COUPLES (OR OTHERS)

  • 5 of 5
My wife and I plus our good friends (another couple) spent 7 days at Paul & June's Casa Colibri over Christmas 2012. We were totally satisfied.

I really don't have anything negative to say:
- The unit is in great condition and very clean,
- The outdoor patio is lovely and large, with teriffic views of the ocean and hills.
- There is no problem whatsoever with noise transfer or privacy between the rental unit and the unit where the owners live (it is very well set up in that regard)
- The two large bedrooms are at opposite ends of the living space, with one being nicely removed from the living space and the other being adjacent to it. This is nice so that two couples have their own separated sleeping areas. Plus, both bedrooms have good ensuite bathrooms (one of which has Jack & Jill doors so it can be accessed from the living space as well).
- the location is terrific, very close to the main square in town, and plenty of convenience/mini-grocery stores,
- Paul was a very professional, and very friendly, host. All interactions before arrival were by email, and were very clear. Then he greeted our arrival in person with a quick run-down of all we needed to know. The rest of the stay, while he was very friendly, interesting, and helpful, he totally respected our privacy and space, being virtually invisible other than occasionally saying hello and making sure all was well (this is noteworthy as they live in a unit on the same property.) We only met his wife, June, once, and she was friendly and professional.

Things to note:
- you have to walk up lots of stairs or a combination of a hill and stairs to get to the unit (no problem whatsoever for us, just noteworthy if you have limited mobility),
- the unit has excellent password-protected wifi internet is included (worked perfectly the whole time, including for Skype/Facetime),
- there's a safe in the unit,
- they provide plenty of nice beach towels (plus, of course, bathroom towels),
- bottled water (big jugs) is included,
- while there's in-room A/C, we just used the above-bed ceiling fans at night,
- the kitchen is small, but adequately equipped,
- there's no TV at all, and
- the only stereo does not have an input for either an aux cable or RCA cable (so all you can use it for is cassettes, cds, or radio).
