New Braunfels has everything you need to make your vacation one to remember. We have the #1 ranked water park in the US, Schlitterbahn, and the oldest operating dance hall in Texas, Gruene Hall. You can tube or raft the Guadalupe river, tube the Comal River or bring a boat and ski approximately 9 miles of Lake Dunlap. If shopping interests you, then you will want to visit one of the largest outdoor outlet malls in Texas in nearby San Marcos. Visit the various historic missions beginning with the Alamo in San Antonio or enjoy Fiesta Texas (Six Flags) and Sea World San Antonio only a short 40 minute drive away. Of course just sitting on the deck and relaxing is always a favorite activity. Here in New Braunfels you will never run out of things to do or places to eat.

Why Russell Oppelt chose New Braunfels

I’ve been visiting the New Braunfels/Lake Dunlap area since I attended college at Southwest. Later, family moved to New Braunfels and I’ve spent many summers and weekends visiting the area. And now my kids are enjoying the same things I’ve enjoyed for so many years.

The whole New Braunfels area has so much to offer – Schlitterbahn, quaint shopping, small town atmosphere, festivals, close proximity to San Antonio. It’s a perfect place to go and enjoy living.

I had been looking on and off for a few years for a place on the lake, and when I found this one, I jumped at the chance. I knew it would be a place I could enjoy for years to come, not only as an adult, but as a parent.

Love It!

This place was Amazing! I came on vacation with my husband,5 children(ranging in age from 12 to 3),and 3 close friends. After having a bad vacation experiance to South Padre,I was a little scared coming to the Oplt Haus in New Braunfels,but as soon as we arrived the house and view were amazing! In side the house was even better. It looked alot nicer then the pictures and was very clean! The lake house was very well stocked. The kitchen also had evertything u needed to make a family dinner. The bbq pit came in handy,because my husband loves to bbq. We visited Schlitterbahn(it was a very close drive) and had a blast! We also took a drive to San Antonio( witch is also a short drive). The house was right in the middle of everything! But just spending time at the house was my favorit.We all enjoyed swimming in the lake and us adults drinking a glass of wine enjoying the view. The owner was nice and easy to work with. I am defintly renting here again on our next vacation to New Braunfels!

The end of the drought

Although it rained off and on during our 3 day stay we all had a good time chillin out and playing cards and games. The house is very roomy to accommodate 8 adults and one baby and was very clean. We ate all of our meals at the house with all the necessary accomodations except for a cutting board. Be sure to bring one if you think you will need it. Also we did not find a hair dryer. All in all it is a great place and we would return again--hoping for sunshine this time.

Great Stay!

We were a group of 8 that stayed here for the weekend. The house has plenty of space where everybody can fit comfortably. The house itself is very nice and clean, still looks new. We ate all of our meals in, and the kitchen has everything you need for cooking (even a crock pot for queso!). The backyard has an awesome view of the lake, with a nice little outdoor patio. The neighborhood is fairly quiet at night, so it was very peaceful just sitting outside under the stars listening to some Texas Country music with a cold drink in hand (be sure to bring bug spray!). If you need to venture out of the house, you are not very far at all from New Braunfels/San Marcos (house is on 46 between 1-10 and 35). The owner was extremely nice and easy to work with, with definitely stay here again!
