Saltbox house sits atop a ridge on seventy acres of untouched wooded land looking over Squam Lake. Its large deck runs thirty feet across the front of the house affording great opportunities to relax or entertain. Wake up to the sun rising above Red Hill and eat breakfast at the table on the deck. Informal gardens surround the house and the woods are fun to explore. Sandy beach is a four mile drive, and kayaks and canoe are stored by the lake two miles from the house. The Squam Range (Rattlesnake, Morgan, Livermore Mountains are a five mile drive to trails). This is the perfect house for a relaxed family vacation.
Four bedrooms (two rooms each with a queen bed; one room with one twin bed; one room with two twin beds) and a 'common room' on second floor provide places to sleep or rest. The kitchen is well appointed and is open to the dining room and living room. The dining room table comfortably sits eight people. Additionally, round table on deck sits eight people. This is a great house for families to reconnect and spend time together in the Squam lakes region.
My husband and I are school teachers who built this house as our summer retreat. Each summer we try to do more work in the surrounding woods, clearing the view, and planting more blueberry bushes. It has been a great place for us to raise our family.
Katherine Weymouth purchased this tower in 1991
Likely one of the most beautiful lakes in the world!
Visitors catch their breaths when they first see the 'million-dollar' view of Squam and the mountains, including Chocorua. Many think the view rivals the view of Squam from Rattlesnake. See for yourself!
