Crystal Lake and the many opportunities for outdoor adventures. It is a beautiful property and I am grateful to have it. It is a joy to share it with others who appreciate it.
This home is a real treasure. The architecture is interesting and the property is beautiful. A stay at the lodge provides an outdoor experience while enjoying the comforts of a beautiful home.
Our family stayed here during the winter and it was an excellent winter getaway. Very warm and cozy with a good central gathering area by the fireplace and a big table for family meals. It was family friendly with enough beds for all of us and a crib for any babies if desired. The kitchen was great too and we even managed to do some winter BBQ'ing. Right by the lake and close by town to pick up supplies, but still far enough away to get away from it all for a bit. Enjoyed going to see the lighthouse nearby and winter walks during the day. Mary was a great help throughout our stay and was available for any questions we had at any point. Would definitely recommend as both a summer or winter getaway
What an amazing week! We really didn't know what we were walking into when we saw the Crystal Lake Lodge online. We were pleasantly surprised at all of the room including private space for all our family. The beach is perfect for family time and access is exceptionally easy into the water. A 4 step stairway rather than a ladder down into the perfect sand bottom of that amazingly "crystal" clear water. Shallow a long way out was great for mini swimmers. Also excellent for BIG swims, water was cool but we loved it! The house itself was very, very clean with lots of places to put our stuff. Kitchen is bigger than you think with lots of room for lots of cooks and counter space for everything.
Lake Michigan is so close! 2 miles away there is a trail head right out to the dunes. Trail walk is about a mile and then a short climb over the dunes to that beautiful Lake Michigan beach. One day we were out with our 2 1/2 year old nephew on one of the Lake Michigan beaches and he said "I want to go back to Gramma's House" Since that day we all refer to it as Gramma's house. That is just how comfortable we were there. We pretty much gave up on the sightseeing during the last couple of days because our favorite place to be was Gramma's House and Gramma's Beach!! Can't wait for next year! Thanks for everything and especially helping us deal with our specific needs.
This place was amazing! large enough for 2 families, we brought our three teen girls and a couple of friends. Very clean and spacious. The master suite was unreal! The jacuzzi tub room all to itself in the secluded corner was a treat. The kids had plenty of room and bathrooms to avoid fights and keep out of each others way. The loft area was used a lot as the only TV was up there, and the kitchen was big enough for everyone to use while I was cooking. I loved the large gas grill on the deck and the fire pit at the lake. We really enjoyed the beautiful blue water and the private beach (just a short walk, but note it is across the road.) The property is a large and lovely one and in a great place, close to town and just before a stop sign. The only drawback to our stay was the lack of a place to park the boats, the waves are very strong and my husband had to rent a spot from a reluctant resort owner. (Mary said she would try to buy one.) We had perfect weather and a memorable stay. I would love to be able to return with another larger group because we could have for sure accommodated more people. Nice laundry facility. Note :if you have small kids, I would recommend water shoes because we collected quite a few zebra mussels while hanging out in the water- our contribution to a safer waterfront, but they can be sharp and dangerous to those unfamiliar with them (most lakes in Michigan have them these days.)
We spent a week in this fabulous house with 18 people!! It was spacious and beautiful. Enough roon for everything you can inagine....Kids and adults alike had a fabulous time!! We will be back year after year!!
Fantastic setting, beautiful view of Crystal Lake, the lodge was very nice and our family was very comfortable, especially enjoyed the jacuzzi! Mary was very welcoming and attentive to our needs. Can't wait to go back.
I have stayed at the Crystal Lake Lodge now in all seasons! My winter adventure included ice skating right out front on Crystal Lake, downhill skiing at Crystal Mountain, cross country skiing at Sleeping Bear National Park on several trails leading out to Lake Michigan, snowshoeing out the back door into the woods around Round Lake, sitting by the warm fire in the living room and cuddeling by the fire in the master suite! My spring visit was facinating watching all the wild flowers pop and mushrooming right out back! Nights were cool but the days were warm and sunny. My summer visit was awesome as a bought a kayak and learned to paddle in the shallows of Crystal where I knew I could still touch! Coffee on the beach, after a run, every morning and wine on the beach to watch the sun go down. My fall visits have been the most peaceful! I paddled out back on Round Lake at sunset with the most glorious color show ever! I've sent Mary photos for the web-site, enjoy. I love the fact that I can vacation and work at the same time, the wireless internet makes that possible. I often set up in the solarium to work where I can look out into the woods and out to Round Lake, I've see eagles, deer, and a bobcat, a pretty awesome office view! I've enjoyed cooking in the 70's vintage kitchen but I have also tried some very wonderful local restaurants. I love the lake and the woods and the spirit of the area! Mary is a great host and very responsive to any questions about the lodge or the local area. Every time I have stayed here the lodge is clean and inviting. The beach is already lovely but her plans for waterfront enhancements for next season sound terrific. I like the fact that she always asks for suggestions on how she can improve the amenities to enhance my next visit, now that's customer service. Thanks Mary! Looking forward to my ski club adventure at the lodge this winter, I think the gang is all going to love it! CB
