KONA COFFEE FARM COTTAGE

Holualoa Cottage Rental Photos and Description

Cottage, 1 Bedroom + Other (See Description), 1.5 Baths, (Sleeps 4-5)

Experience true relaxation, Hawaii-style, on a Kona coffee farm.

* Sweeping ocean views from the Cottage, seen through the fruit trees.

* Private fully-equipped cottage set among coffee and tropical fruit trees overlooking the Kona coast on an eight acre working coffee farm with a few cattle.

* Relax in the rural atmosphere, with the perfume of tropical flowers, and birdsong to wake you.

* Just a few minutes drive down the mountain to snorkeling, diving, beaches, and all the attractions of Kailua-Kona town.

* Cool off in the swimming pool adjacent to your cottage, shared only with your hosts.

Charming wood-built Guest Cottage: Come and enjoy traditional Hawaii at Aina na Hoku Kai Farm, home of Cuppa Kona 100% Kona Coffee. Our Guest Cottage is situated a short distance away from our own home, and, as the only two residences on the farm, you are assured peace and tranquility, with no noisy neighbors to disturb your Hawaii dream. The farm is three miles up the Hualalai mountain from the popular town of Kailua-Kona with all its attractions, restaurants, beaches, snorkeling and diving centers, and more. Driving is on regular roads all the way, no four-wheel-drive tracks to negotiate!

The 800 square foot cottage is built Hawaiian-style, with polished teak and mahogany floors and walls, and expansive windows all around that are screened and furnished with sliding shutters or bamboo blinds and mini blinds.

The bedroom has a comfortable king bed, ample closet space and the floor is a ceramic tile. The living room has a full-size sofa and two day beds and is floored with a teak parquet. The kitchen is equipped with everything you could need (except a regular oven, and food), and there is a shower room and two separate powder rooms. The Cottage at Aina na Hoku Kai Farm is the perfect getaway for two couples, or a family of four, or just a couple who likes to have plenty of room.

We provide Kona coffee from our farm throughout your stay, and the gardens, swimming pool and deck are there for your use at any time.

Mary Lou and Chuck retired to the property in 2002. Chuck's parents had lived on the property for over thirty years. As third generation Kona residents they enjoy sharing their special place, and knowledge of the surrounding, its history and attractions.

The Owner purchased this cottage in 2002

We decided to retire on the place that Chuck's parents lived on for over thirty years because the setting and culture provided a unique place for a variety of interests to be pursued.

You will be staying in a rural setting in a well appointed cottage. Our elevation of 1,500 feet provides a cooler setting than along the coast. No heat required, no air conditioning required. Tropical fruit available for the picking as the seasons dictate, wild pheasants, turkeys, and free range chickens to watch. 100% Kona coffee provided, grown and processed from fruit to roasted coffee on the property. Pool is immediately adjacent to the cottage front door. Close to town, beaches, and the highway that goes all the way around the island. Chuck will be glad to run his local antique engines, up to 100 years old, for those interested.

PERFECT PLACE!

  • 5 of 5
This was our first time to the big island and we couldn't have found a more perfect place to stay! We woke up in the mornings in the huge comfy bed to the sounds of birds and sunlight through the translucent ceiling panels. The windows have screens but no glass. I was worried about being too hot, but the cool breeze was lovely in the evenings. It was so nice to come back and relax after a day on the beach or seeing the sights. The kitchen is well stocked with utensils, pots and pans, and you have a variety of ways to brew the wonderful coffee provided. It is the best coffee we've ever had (and this is coming from Seattle coffee snobs)! We got to see the process from picking to roasting. We also enjoyed watching the chickens and cows. The setting was lovely; surrounded by fruit trees and with a view of the ocean. The cottage had beach towels and mats which we used as well as many other useful things such as body boards, beach chairs, snorkel equipment, a cooler. The location was convenient. Less than 15 minutes to town and easy highway access for heading north or south to see the sights in other parts of the island. I highly recommend this place - and will to any friends or family going to Hawaii. We will stay here again next time!

JUST MARVALOUS

  • 5 of 5
What can I say, it was so pleasant, up on the hill side a wonderful cottage that was so well equiped we wanted for nothing. Chuck and MaryLou are graciouse hosts and had us settled in in no time. We were happy to have Chuck give us lessons in coffee production and watch him clean and roast the beans.
The chickens, wild turkeys and beautiful local birds were very entertaining as well as the 2 new steers.
My favourite of course was the hen under the bench that was sitting on 11 eggs for the 10 days we were there and I would have liked to watch her until the 21 day hatching, hope they make it. The coltage itself is so well equipped with all the kitchen items snorkle equipment loads of towels and all sorts of toileties. We were able to pick all the fruit we wanted, papyas, orange, tangerine, lemons, limes even tried the bread fruit. The private pool was great heated by solar and we could do laundry and hang it out to dry on the line provided. Our "kids" 2 adults joined us for one week and there was no problem with space, beds were all very comfortable and our king size was great in the bedroom with a very warm and cozy comforter. Also provided were housecoats, great idea. as well as all the gear for the beach, including snorkle and chairs and cooler
Well, by now you realize we were very impressed by the whole experience with Chuck and MaryLou
hope you can also enjoy this place - we certainly hope to return Chuck the coffee is great and thank you for providing coffee during our time with you.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND

  • 5 of 5
We enjoyed a great time on our 2 week visit. The host were very helpful and informitive. The cottage was extremely clean and well organized, the only thing we needed to bring was our food. Of course fresh fruit right off the trees was available. We would highly recommend this location to anyone planning a trip to Kona. The farm was very well maintained with a scenic panorama view of Kona. Everything was within a 10 - 15 minute drive.

THIS PLACE IS PARADISE!

  • 5 of 5
The cottage was spacious, clean, and well-equiped, situated on lush grounds that our toddler loved to explore. We enjoyed the fresh picked fruit and mac nuts from our backyard, and BBQing poolside at sunset. Secluded but not remote. Our hosts provided spot-on restaurant, beach, and sight-seeing recommendations. Bring a sweater for the cool evenings and ear plugs if you plan to sleep in later than the resident roosters. We absolutely loved it here and can't wait to return.

PERFECT WAY TO START A VACATION!

  • 5 of 5
We had a wonderful stay here, with welcoming hosts and a beautiful setting. This spot is in a lush green farm setting, just up the hill from the tourist zone, but close to the beaches and any activities of interest. The cottage is lovely, with all items needed to cook and enjoy a rejuvenating stay. The beds and living accommodations are comfy and clean as a whistle. We so appreciated the extra touches provided, including towels, boogie boards and snorkeling equipment. We loved the tour of the active coffee farm, and the delicious coffee and ripe fruit we enjoyed. Our hosts shared valuable tips on beach and snorkeling spots as well as island info that made our whole vacation more complete. We appreciated coming and going each day just as if it were "home." We hope to have the opportunity to stay here again.
