Great Wass Island and the small rural town of Beals beckon visitors who wish to truly experience a hard working fishing community and the bold ocean frontage of the coast of Maine. Built in 1998, “Life on the Ledge”, an Oceanside home, provides a magical retreat from the busy lifestyles of the city. Nestled on a point at the outskirts of a peaceful cove overlooking adjacent islands, this retreat invites the hiker, bird watcher and avid nature enthusiast.
Awake to the sound of the lobster boats as the fishermen begin their day on the ocean. During the day relax on the deck, comb the pink granite shoreline for seaside treasures, explore the nature trails or travel to neighboring towns. If you enjoy lobster and other fine seafood, end the day sampling the day’s catch while watching the sun set over the islands as it glistens across the ocean. After the sunset, retire to the living room to sit in front of a crackling fire while enjoying your favorite book. If you are traveling by water, this home provides a dock and mooring for safe anchorage. Vacationers yearning for a quiet, peaceful vacation on the beautiful coast of Maine should consider “Life on the Ledge”.
My husband and I grew up in the communities of Beals and Jonesport. Our home was completed in 1998 and we lived there for several years. We built a second home in 2008. We are truly blessed to have the best of two worlds. A home on some of the most breathtaking oceanfront on the coast and a home in the middle of some of the most spectacular woodland in Downeast Maine.
This was our home for several years and we continue to enjoy vacationing there.
Sunsets, fishing, wildlife, hiking and just relaxing.
