About The Owner

Mike and I have been married for 20 years and have two children. We both grew up in Atlanta through high school and now live in Cumming, GA where are active members of Browns Bridge Community Church. For 14 years now, we have shared so many precious memories together, watching our kids growing up and sharing it with our family and friends. God has truly blessed us with such a wonderful home.

The Owner purchased this house in 2001

Why The Owner chose Lake Burton

My husband visited Lake Burton several times growing up as a teenager and never forgot how great the experience was, so we had always hoped we could own a place of our own here. Then in 1999, our dear friends Lee and Kristin Wagner (which own the house next door!) told us about a property for sale on Dick's Creek and thanks to them, we got a chance to fulfill our dream. We knew we had found a little piece of heaven on earth so we did not waste time building our rustic lake home in 2001. It has truly been a place of refuge for our family ever since and we treasure the time we have spent at our Burton Lodge!

What makes this house unique

Our place has one of the flattest and largest yards on Lake Burton! This means when you are done boating on the lake and you want to be back on dry land, you and your guests can stretch your legs on our enormous lawn. The home decorated with the latest appliances and electronics, as well as decorator quality rustic decor. We have 2 kayaks available to use and an open boat slip if you want to bring your own boat or rent one from Laprades Marina or Achorage Marina. If you are considering using our home for a family reunion but need more space, our next door neighbors have their home available for rent as well and can be used together to sleep 20-25 people. See their Lake Burton listing on VRBO #243703.

Family Fun!

Such a wonderful home and location for families with kids. They are able to run around freely in such a big open area and the playground is amazing. We're hoping to go back again.

Christmas Break - 2013/2014 A New Year's Delight!

  • 5 of 5

We had a fabulous and memorable experience at the Lake Burton Home with our 14 family members. The house was spacious and well-equipped, and don't let the three-bedrooms and three baths fool you, we had more than enough space to accommodate our children, nieces and nephew, Aunts and Uncles. The boys still had a great time fishing for trout and walking through the canals in their rubber boots, even though the water was down for the season. New Year's Eve was so much fun, with neighbors that showed up with a firework display and a wonderful bonfire. Snow met us on our last day, and it was the perfect ending to a beautiful week.

Our Family Vacation

  • 5 of 5

This is truly a relaxing and beautiful home to get away from life's challenges. Our past year has been filled with a lot of tough situations and we needed to unwind, relax and just enjoy each other and count our/ God's blessings. The home was much nicer than the pictures show, the beds very comfortable and the location so peaceful surrounded by a state park, hiking trails, trout swimming in the creek, and Clayton just down the road not to mention beautiful Lake Burton just around the bend in the creek. Thanks to the owners for quick responses to any question or concern. Our eight grandchildren had a ball fishing, kayaking and playing football in the huge yard. Again, we so enjoyed our time.

The MOST perfect vacation home on Lake Burton!

  • 5 of 5

This home far exceeded my family's expectations...in every way. The green scape is just unreal. The fishing is great (we caught 37 fish 4 days) right off the boat docks and wading area. The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The kitchen was FABULOUS (although I'd suggest bringing along your own favorite pot/pan and chef knife) and let's not forget the ginormous TV in the den!!! Holy cow!

We would love to come back soon...this is our dream home!

Get Away and Relax

  • 5 of 5

We got out of the city for the weekend, and this was the perfect place to engage in activities (yard games, fishing, kayaking, swimming, etc) OR relax/lounge in the huge yard and dip your toes in the water. The house is in a great location just off the lake to relax, and easy enough to get right in the middle of the action, if that's where we wanted to be. We had a great time! Thanks!

Wonderful Week!

  • 5 of 5

This was the perfect place for our children and grandchildren (4 & 5 years) to all come together for a fun family time. The house was beautiful and so well accomodating to a large family group and such an easy place to relax. The huge flat yard was perfect for games, chase, hide and seek, catching lightening bugs, and playing ball. We enjoyed building fires in the pit and making smores. The creek and canal provided much entertainment from kayaking, swimming and fishing! The kids fished from the boathouse and our grandson caught his first fish. We kayaked out of the creek and canal to the big water but we also had a small fishing boat that we took out to the cove. On two separate days, we rented a boat so that we could explore the lake from the dam to the head and many of the coves. We even packed our lunch and picnicked on the boat. We spent one day in Helen and tubed down the river. The guys in our group did a lot of fishing in the creek and out in some of the coves. They caught trout-native, brown and rainbow in the creek. In the coves, they caught a spotted and large mouth bass, yellow perch, and bream.

The owners were very gracious in sharing everything with us. In addition, I asked many questions before making our trip and they answered each one immediately. It was a pleasure renting this unit. It is definitely a place where memories are made!!
