Enjoy a peaceful cabin experience in our fully furnished lakefront home with private dock. We are the only rental property on Apple Canyon Lake licensed by Jo Daviess County that owns all the way to the water and has it's own private dock.

A perfect getaway any season, surrounded by a canopy of large oaks, with excellent swimming, walk-out fishing, trails, and nature around every corner.

Choose your experience... Rent a pontoon from the marina and cruise the lake or swim and fish right from the dock. Meditate down by the quiet, private shoreline, or next to the warm fireplace. Spend a day hiking the scenic 13-mile trail around the lake, cross-country ski or downhill ski at Chestnut Mountain. Guests can also plan active day trips to the area attractions such as the wineries, Galena shopping/restaurants, Grant's home, horse back riding, sleigh rides, Mississippi casino boat or Apple River State Park.

Located in a unique part of Illinois where rough terrain, hills, and beautiful views were spared by the glaciers. 25 minutes east of Galena, Il., and Chestnut Mountain ski resort. 2.5 hours west of Chicago and most suburbs. Discover this well kept secret that our many returning guests have.

About Beth

With smaller children and a busy lifestyle, we aren't able to spend as much time at the 'Hazewood Hideaway' as we would like. We have kept the house up for vacation rentals so others can enjoy the many fun activities the lake has to offer and make as many wonderful memories here as we have!

Apple Canyon Lake must be experienced to be described. It's like the northern woods of Michigan or Wisconsin, yet only a couple hours from Chicago. This is Illinois best kept secret and why we bought property here.

What makes this cabin unique

The areas land and lake are extremely well preserved and not over loaded with people, streets, houses, etc. There's an abundant amount of nature around every turn with excellent fishing.

Apple Canyon is a 480 Acre, clean, deep, private lake with excellent fishing. All amenities such as the beach, tennis, basketball, pool, pontoon boat rental, trails, and golf (for a fee) are available to guests. Additionally, only property owners can have a boat on the water which reduces boating congestion during the high season. Guests of the Hazewood Hideaway are able to rent a boat during their stay.
