COMFORTABLE BRAND NEW STUDIO WITH AC IN 16TH CENTURY BUILDING

5th Arrondissement Latin Quarter Studio Rental Photos and Description

Studio, 1 Bedroom, 1 Bath, (Sleeps 2)

This is a typical Parisian studio with stone walls and exposed beams. It is located on the French first floor (American 2nd floor) of a 16th century building opposite to the metro and the UniversIty Jussieu.

The studio has been entirely redecorated and refurnished on Dec. 2009. It has all you need during your stay. Crockery, linen and towels are provided. It is very bright and overlooks the Place and University Jussieu.

The particularity of this studio is that the bed is stored at the ceiling during day time. This allows you to enjoy the entire space. At night, the bed is pulled down and it turns the studio into a big bedroom where you can relax or watch TV. The bathroom is cute and handy (hand sink, toilet, shower). The kitchen corner has all you need for a relaxed breakfast or a self catering.

The neighborhood is very lively, with lots of cafés and restaurants. There is a good bakery, a well supplied supermarket and a bio food shop at 150 meters. We also have 3 street markets.

I've lived in Paris since 1981. I realize I love Paris each time I come back from a trip abroad. I would appreciate to share my passion for Paris with you. My 2 sons are born here. If by chance, I am away, they will welcome you on my behalf. I love good food, good restaurants, cinema and architecture.

Vilay Marchal purchased this studio in 1989

The studio is very well located. It is at walking distance to Notre Dame, Saint Michel, Ile Saint Louis, Le Marais, Bastille, Panthéon etc. It is surrounded by 3 beautiful gardens : le Jardin des Plantes, les Arênes de Lutèce and le jardin du Luxembourg. With 2 metro lines and 5 buses lines, you can get anywhere in Paris easily. Typical rue Mouffetard is a few blocks away.

The hammam is near by at the mosq. Dalloyau Pastries also at the Luxemburg garden. Bertillon's ice cream is at 5 minute walk in the Ile Saint Louis. Nice restaurants from all origins. 23 arts and essais cinemas. Peaceful strolls through Paris. Reading a book at the Luxembourg near the pond. Dancing at the Seine river banks in the summer time. Having a coffee and look at the passers by.

FANTASTIC STUDIO IN PERFECT LOCATION!

  • 5 of 5
Whilst the studio IS very small it met all of our needs and we loved it. Across the road from the Metro (Jussieu), owner met us as agreed and gave us the low-down on how to get around and where to go. We soon found our bearings and slotted into the life of the Left-Bank Parisienne. There are loads of pubs, creperies, bakeries and pastry shops (next door) not to mention the oodles of cafes and bistro's within 2minute walk of the studio. There is a good supermarket at the end of the street. The bed is good fun, bathroom perfect, probably could have a couple of shelves in the kitchen corner for our stuff but we managed fine. Loved the satellite TV with English speaking channels. Loved that we could call landlines in Australia (home) for free! Wifi was perfect! We laid in bed each night marvelling that our studio had survived two world wars and hundreds of years of history had walked past our front door - oh Paris you are beautiful! Will definitely stay there again on our next visit to Paris!

Things not to miss on your visit to Paris - hop on hop off bus tour (they're good for you to get your bearings) Palace of Versailles (gobsmacking - but get there early in the morning and allow half a day minimum to explore, take a picnic lunch to enjoy in the beautiful gardens), Notre Dame (5 mins walk - again get there early if you want to do the tower climb because numbers are limited - queue for the tower starts before 9 and actually opens at 10 - they close it very early each arvo due to numbers - the church however is open late and free to enter and look at), the metro (perfect to get you anywhere easily and quickly), the Louvre (Da-Vinci's masterpieces), every single museum you can squeeze into including the Maritime Museum to see Napoleons Barge - wow, nutella crepes (mmmmm), gigantic flavoured meringues, traditional hearty french onion soup from the local bistrot, baguettes from anywhere, croissants from anywhere, a Seine River Cruise, Gallery Lafayette, and lastly but most definitely not least the Eiffel Tower - and you must return at dusk for the display of 60,000 twinkling LED lights - very special on the hour show each evening.

LA VIE EST BELLE(LIFE IS TRULY BEAUTIFULL) ESPECIALLY IN PARIS IN THE SPRINGTIME

  • 5 of 5
My stay in Paris was made even more fantastic by staying in a clean, well equipped and adorable apartment. I would stay there again in a heartbeat. Although it is somewhat petite, it is more than enough room for one or two people with room to spare. To add icing to the cake I had a spectacular view of a courtyard that is A BLAZE with color in the spring, WOW!
Also they say location is everything, well this location has everything. You are right across the street from a metro station from which all of Paris is at your footsteps. There are boulangeries (bakery), French restaurants and a world class botanical garden within blocks of your apartment. Which brings me to another point, the proprietor Vilay is one of the most professional, informative, gracious and cordial people you will be blessed to meet in your life. Her breath of knowledge of Paris will amaze you and even better she is happy to share her wisdom. So come to Paris the city of light and love and live La Dolce Vita (The Good Life).

AS DESCRIBED

  • 5 of 5
This is an excellent location (sightseeing, stores, transportation), a very and pleasant and clean studio, and a very nice and helpful landlady who lives just around the corner. I would choose the same place again if I were going to Paris, as I hope I will.

The arrangement is quite ingenious, and the bed, which lowers from the ceiling to stand over the sofa, leaves the limited space comfortable both during daytime and at night.

PERFECT PARIS HIDEAWAY FOR TWO!

  • 5 of 5
We spent five nights at this charming little apartment in May and would like to join the chorus of those who enjoyed their visit here so much. The location is, of course, wonderful – on a quiet Latin Quarter street across from the park and just a short walk to the Seine, Notre Dame, the Pantheon, Luxembourg Gardens and other attractions. It’s located in a real neighborhood right around the corner from a small grocery (where we loaded up on wine, cheese, and ice cold Kronenbourg beer every night), just down the street from a friendly local tavern (where they play Texas Holdem – I wasn’t allowed to go back), and close to a number of Parisian outdoor cafes. Just a few steps away are a couple of places selling cooked-to-order crepes (we brought them up to the studio for dinner one night after touring the city). The metro is just across the street (we took it from our apartment to Versailles one day, and probably should have made more use of it – the taxi drivers in Paris are horrible…avoid them whenever possible). The studio itself was just as described by Vilay – a tiny walk-up, perfect for two (don’t try to squeeze even one more in – there’s just no room), with a comfortable bed that pulls down from the ceiling (and takes up almost the entire apartment when in use). I had a few concerns when booking this place – at 70 with a bad knee, I was a bit hesitant about the stairs. Turned out to be no problem – one flight that was easy to maneuver even at my age. Although the owner, Vilay, was out of the country during our visit, her two charming sons were available to check us in, teach us how to use the French TV, and help us log in to the Wi-Fi. Not mentioned in the description of the studio – there’s a hair dryer (if my wife had known, she wouldn’t have bothered to bring hers). There are a few cons – hardly worth mentioning, but I’ll do so in the spirit of full disclosure. Storage space in the studio is practically non-existent (not even a dresser, just a couple shelves where you can put clothes (if you remove the books and stuff placed there). Operating the TV is glitchy (2 remotes are needed and the on-screen instructions don’t help if you can’t read French). There’s a trick to unlocking the door (you need to push the key in before turning). And we did have company – a little church mouse who came out in the evening (no problem and not surprising considering this is a 15th century building). But all this is just picky, picky, picky. We had a wonderful time, the

A GREAT LITTLE APARTMENT IN A GREAT LOCATION

  • 5 of 5
When we arrived we wondered if this tiny gem might be too small for two people for an entire month, but as soon as we put away our stuff our fears left us. This extremely well designed, cheerful and sunny apartment has a place for everything and if you keep everything in its place, there is ample room. We, like everyone else, loved the bed and wonder why there are not North American companies offering a similar product. The location, right across from the metro station is superb and Vilay is a gem. We would not hesitate to return for another month.
